This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. Hello,

    Does Samsung have a forum area in the samsung.com domain space? Do they respond to support questions there?

    The Community QA area leaves a lot to be desired and I am looking for a threaded discussion area if one exists.

    Also, are there any other forum sites (other than this one) that are any good?

    Thanks

    AFAIK Samsung have nothing at present. Once upon a time a few of their UK support staff used to unofficially take part in this forum.

    There is an active Sammynetbook forum (which probably explains why there is very little netbook discussion here) but I think NBR is currently the leading place to discuss Samsung notebooks.

    This forum is one of the most complete and only a few trolls but mostly with nice competent people. But it is true that the Samsung forum is slow compared to the other sections.

    Slow moving forums do have the advantage though. ;)
    Queries get more time and attention, threads don't get pushed back so fast.
    Trolls are not so interested.

    But, with Samsung increasing its notebook portfolio, there will be increased activity here.

    Samsung does have a forum, it's on Facebook and is actually a customised Facebook app.

    I remember when this forum was event quieter. However, given that Samsung sold >11M notebooks in 2011
    then proportionately this forum should be even busier. So why not?

    (i) Most people first look for a forum when they have a problem so perhaps the vast majority of Samsung purchasers have a trouble-free experience;
    (ii) Much of the discussion in forums is by enthusiasts and, given the lower potential of most Samsung products for tweaking / upgrading, this doesn't promote as much discussion as with some other brands;
    (iii) Until a couple of years ago, Samsung's main markets were east Asia and western Europe. While there has now been steady expansion into north America, I suspect that a substantial proportion of Samsung's notebook sales are to non English speaking users.

    Anyway, let's retain our leading position as the Samsung notebook forum.
