Do they have a 9 cell battery for the R580 anywhere?
    You'd think they'd have a 9 cell for a 15" notebook.
This is what I liked about the Dell XPS I had... the choice of different batteries.

If not, who makes the best battery for the R580?
Or am I stuck with a 6 cell Samsung battery?

What is the part number of your six cell battery? It should contain a "6". Swap the "6" for a "9" and let Google hunt for that part.

I was sure hoping this company could deliver because they do sell 9 cell batteries for the Samsung....just not our model> Samsung Laptop Battery | Samsung Notebook Battery | Laptop Battery One but they don't! Contact them and lets start a movement!

FYI: My wife and friend have purchased many things (usually female stuff) from DHGATE and said the quality is great!

Also, note in the picture the cells come from Japan! That should say something good about these batteries!

Could someone tell me if there is a 9 or 12 cell battery for the Samsung R780? The battery product ID is AA-PB9N-C6B.

Sorry I'm late getting back here.

Wow! That is good news... a 12 cell is better than a 9 cell too. Great price too.
I wonder how much time I will gain with this?
    I'll order one next payday.

Thanks for the heads up Sammy!

UPDATE: I just noticed it ships from Hong Kong. Any problems getting it to Washington State? How long of a wait would that be?

Shouldn't make any difference. From my wife, it can get to California in a few days. But I suppose that would depend how it was shipped.

I don't think its the same as the R580 because I noticed on Best Buys website they use a 60 watt charger while the R580 is a 90 watt charger. Sound like there is less juice in the R780. Someone can correct me if I have wrong info.

PSU rating usually depends in the CPU /GPU. Most likely a 310M GPU only needs a 60W PSU and the GT 330M GPU needs 90W.

That is a good price. It means even with having to buy another battery if we wanted more juice, the R580 was still good bang for buck.

I'm going to get a seperate netbook for my travels though so probably won't need the battery.

I'm getting the 12 cell battery too as I visit the bookstore/Starbucks all the time. However I take my gateway netbook if I'm going camping or on a photo-op trip.

When I got a R480 I ordered a battery because it only lasted about 2 hours but returned the laptop so I ended up with a battery. Then I bought the R580 and lo and behold the battery fitted! I wonder if the R780 also has the same battery as it's siblings.

I ordered the 12cell battery from DHgate and it looks like an original Samsung battery with the power meter. The battery is on the heavy side and juts out a bit and elevates the rear of the laptop. The battery life is 5 to 5 1/2 hours on power saver mode, medium brightness with wi-fi on with minimal video watching while surfing. Thanks for the heads up on the battery.

How long did it take to get yours? (if your in the states that is)

That sounds about right. It doubled-up! This morning I used about 20% of the 6cell battery in about 30min. That would be around 2.5 hrs for the full use. And that was for general web browsing (no video) and avg brightness and full aero use.

I live in Honolulu and it took around 2 1/2 weeks. The maximum time now is showing 6 hours but goes down after 10 minutes of use. So far 5.5 hrs is the norm. A warning though.. don't pick up the laptop by the battery if you're taking it out of a case. The plastic protrusion that secures the battery to the laptop's latch will break easy. I broke mines doing this. In my opinion the battery was worth getting. Will be using it when I travel.

I just stumbled on this post, and following the link provided to Dhgate, only found that it's WHOLESALE only, ie 1000 pcs minimum :(
Is there a hidden link somewhere ?

Thanks for the research anyway ;)

Well, after looking at the seller's store, it seems that most of his batteries are sold per unit, so I hope it's some kind of mistake for this one... I sent him a message, so I'll keep this post updated :p

But, if anyone find another source, please share :D

Edit : So I had a chat with the seller, and apparently they are out of stock, so they are waiting to get some stock before selling individual battery. I could not get a specific date though, but he said maybe one month. I'll be waiting :)

If they bump up the price it would be prudent to just buy two with the Samsung approved 4400mAh at $70 a pop elsewhere! Unfortunately, there are no 9-cell (6600mAh) batteries out there in the world and DHGate is the only Supplier for the 12-cell (8800 mAh) for the R580. The Samsung eats up energy for breakfast at pretty high clip even doing low-level tasks so a 12'er would make it convenient and you would be able to watch a good length Blu-Ray without it stopping midway.

    Hello everyone.

I am from Brazil and bought a Sumsung R580 last trip to US. I am very glad with the PC but since last week I am receiving a alert signal in the battery icon near the clock and the battery is lasting no more than 20 minutes out of the energy.

AS this is my only PC at home and the power cord is in very uncorfortable place, I need'to buy a replacement battery urgently?

Does anyone know a online shop that sells battery for Samsung R580?

    Many thanks,

    Eduardo

Google for the part number (which I think is AA-PB9NC6B). I found this (but there are plenty more) and see which will deliver to your part of the world.

    Thanks John,

Does anyone ever bought in this shop? I am quite afraid to buy from those and have problem, as I never heard about them. I would feel more confortable to buy from a known online shop, but it seems no one sells baterry replacements.

    Many thanks,

    Eduardo

also generally how much heavier would the laptop be with a 9-cell or 12-cell?

Worth the price if it is a 9 cell. Better than a 6 cell.
However, I'm leery as there are NO user reviews for it yet and most of Amazons products have user reviews.

So who is gonna buy 1000 of them and then turn around and sell them for 10-20% tacked onto $103.50?

That does NO good for the average consumer. Besides no one has bought any as there are none for sale anywhere.

still no where to buy a decent battery from?
anyone use the built-in samsung battery extender where it charges up to only 80?
i've been using it but not sure if its worth wasting 20% over. how exactly does it save my battery if i constantly charge it.
also power schemes help any? im talking about the samsung optimized. I'm just trying to get more life out of this battery.

Well, my thinking is... if you want more battery life, then this is NOT the notebook for you. In my case, I'm plugged in 95% of the time and the times I use it at Starbucks or whatever, I can get by with a couple hours. If I want more battery time, I grab my Gateway 10.3" and get 8 hours of time with that.

I do wish Samsung had a 9 or 12 cell to purchase and since they don't I won't be buying a Samsung notebook next time. Great notebook, Terrible supplies, (batteries and such).

The battery is holding steady at 5.5 hours, medium brighness, power saver, internet with some videos. Even though it's on power saver the i5 is still pretty fast. I contacted the seller but it's Chinese New Year so he said he'll get back to me when the business opens up again. I requested for two batteries (crossing fingers)
