I bought a Samsung Q210 last year and I think its a great machine. My only problem is that I can't get it to boot into DOS. I have a trusty old dos boot cd containing Ghost 2003. This is a great backup solution and has got me out of trouble so many times that I feel lost without it. I think the problem is the cdrom driver in DOS. Has anyone got a DOS boot cd working on a Q210 ? If so, could you post details of the driver(s) and a listing of the autoexec.bat and config.sys files. Any help really appreciated.

    Hi.

Disable AHCI in the BIOS and then see if the DOS CD work, but dont boot into your OS until you have turned AHCI back on, or you could have problems.

But some old software just does not boot in dos mode on the Q210.

    Regards

    John.

If you have a Seagate drive you can get a free download of DiscWizard, which is a limited version of True Image. It works quite well. I use it instead of Rescue and Recover on my R60, which can be quite bloated.

John, Many thanks for your very fast reply. I tried what you suggested but to no avail. As you say, I think its a case of the advances in hardware oustripping the driver development, especially for something like DOS. I did find a Linux based boot cd called PING (PartImage is not Ghost) which is similar and works very well, so all is not lost. However, it would be nice to get it to work in DOS.
