    Hi,

I downloaded the bios update from the drivers web page.

When I run it, its stuck at "File extraction", even with leaving it on for an hour. The CPU gets really hot (I also hear the fan running at full speed).

The CPU and mouse don't work of course (the bios update program says they are not supposed to work).

Has anyone encountered this ? How do I get it to work ?

solved - boot with UEFI disabled in bios.
    changed partition table to MBR
    reinstall win7
    install display manager
    run bios update
    tada, works like a charm.

f**k samsung (I even called their phone support, and they said they do not support updating the bios).

In any case, this was a major bios update, I think it solved me a few major problems (like laptop not waking from sleep).

    Hi Ido!
I think I could use your help, as I'm having the same issue...
Could you please explain the first 2 steps of your procedure? I'm not geek enough. :)
    Thanks!
    Warmest greetings from France,

    Dimitri,

Response is more than a year old. You probably have 'moved on' but, someone else could find it handy.

    Quite easy actually:
    #1. Boot with UEFI disabled.

UEFI - This is what's replacing Bios. Google UEFI for further information.

"solved - boot with UEFI disabled in bios.

Goal here is to get into your bios. Don't know what key you use on your rig to enter bios setup. Some systems use F1 or F2 and Lenovo has a blue button top left on your keyboard.

During POST [black screen with text before windows starts to boot, press the appropriate key to take you into 'setup'.

You ought to be in your bios if done right. Navigate to the "advanced" screen in bios.

In the second 'paragraph' often contains - Legacy USB support and AHCI mode control, you shall see "UEFI Boot Support" between the USB and AHCI line entries.

Shift your focus to the line entry on the right. You want the setting to read 'disabled'. You can change the value using F5 or F6.

F10 to save and exit. Rig reboots.

    1. At a command prompt, type: diskpart, and then press ENTER.
    2. At the diskpart prompt, type: list disk, and then press ENTER.
    3. Record the disk number of the disk that you want to convert to an MBR disk.
    4. At the diskpart prompt, type: select disk n, and then press ENTER.
    5. At the diskpart prompt, type: convert mbr, and then press ENTER.
