I have an NP550P5C Series 5 laptop, and I use Truecrypt whole drive encryption. Software Update wanted me to flash a new bios version P08AAA. I'm just a little concerned about whether the encryption will compromise the bios flash. Has anyone ever tried this? Any suggestions? Of course I could decrypt the drive first, but that would take a whole day, and then another day to re-encrypt.

And I should also ask - any reviews of P08AAA?

I would suggest that you use the stand-alone BIOS update program (there's a link in the first post in this thread) rather than SW Update try to do it since you will be able to see what is happening.
