    Hello,

I have been experiencing some issues with the battery in my Samsung NP530U3B recently. The laptop runs fine so long as it is plugged in, but it abruptly turns off if the power adapter is removed. The laptop appears to recognize that the battery is present, and partially charged (usually between 15% - 20% but sometimes it shows 100%), but I receive and error/warning message when restarting that says "the battery is not operating under normal factory conditions and should be replaced immediately."

Does anyone have any experience with replacing the battery in this series of laptops? I am out of warranty and was given a $200 quote by Samsung's tech repair center, assuming it is ONLY the battery that needs to be replaced.

I am just wondering if it would be feasible to source the parts myself and replace it. I am relatively handy but I don't want to find out after ordering the battery that there is actually something wrong with the motherboard. Any advice would be appreciated.

According to samsungparts.com the battery part number is BA43-00336A. (You can check whether the same part number is shown for other versions of this notebook.)

Feed the part number into your favourite search engine and you should find more sources and, maybe, more attractive prices.

While the majority of the current production of Samsung notebook batteries seem to be good for several years, there are invariably some that die early. Your battery may be one of those. The trick is to check the battery health after about 10 months so there is time to get any deteriorating battery replaced under warranty.
