    Hi,

First post with an issue. Recently received the NP900X3E and noticed backlight bleeding. Have attached a photo that shows some of the problem....mainly a series of spots on the bottom of the screen as well as a larger one close to the top left. I have very little knowledge on the subject and wondering what others think. Acceptable or exchange?

    Thanks,

How does the display look in normal usage?

Can you see any unevenness in the backlighting?

My X3E-A looks similar on, although the intensity is hard to judge by a photo. As John suggest s see if you recognize it in normal usage. Mine is fine in that scenario.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes, the photo is hard to judge by.

In general internet browsing etc. it isn't noticeable, but while watching a movie when the screen is darker you can see it even when brightness is at 50%. I'm just not sure if this is a common thing on higher end laptop screens that are thin or if it's worth going through the process of exchanging and hoping for something better.

The camera tends to pick up brightness variations that the human eye can't see but it's a while since I have varying brightness along the bottom of the display. It's usually only the top corners.

However, the real test is do you have something that you can use to demonstrate to either the retailer or Samsung that the lighting is noticeably uneven? It's probably easier to live with this problem than whatever the number of bad pixels is that is deemed to be acceptable.

I have the same issue on my NP900X3F-K01. I tried to return it to the store and have it replaced, but the only other unit they had also has backlight bleeding. They said that it's a common issue with laptops this thin. I've gotten used to it and don't find it much of an issue anymore.

Yes, that's the conclusion I'm coming to as well. It's kind of annoying as it really shouldn't be an issue with Samsung's supposedly high end laptop. Their quality control isn't as tight as it should be. I'm leaning toward returning this one and hoping for something better. Will report back in a week or so with the good or bad.

I had similar issues late last year with the Samsung Series 9. I eventually gave up. Received three units, all had backlight bleed. Doesn't surprise me that this is still an issue.

What surprises me most is how little I've heard about the Series/Ativ 9 having excessive backlight bleeding.
