Can the 'SamsungRecovery' folder in Drive D be removed safely? My Samsung netbook has 2 partitions, C: and D: ; and the 'SamsungRecovery' folder is in D.

I am thinking of deleting that folder to save space, and if possible, just burn its contents to a DVD before removing it.

Is this like HP's Recovery partition which can be backupped to a writeable DVD+R and then removed?

See what the Samsung recovery utility has to offer. I recall two functions: (i) To make a "birthday" backup of the initial user configuration and (ii) to make user backups of the C: partition. Several of the latter backups can start to use a lot of space. You could either delete them or store them offline.

I think there is also a factory image which can be used to restore C: but this is in a hidden partition. (This used to be accessed by pressing F4 (?) on initial bootup).

Read the user guide first but I think you can remove those files at risk of losing some redundancy in the backups.
