Hi so today I decided to put my laptop back into factory settings because the laptop was getting a bit slow to my liking and I was hoping that could solve the problem.
I start the Samsung Recovery, select the Reset to Factory Settings option and then I wait for it to complete.
until it ended everything was fine, but when the laptop restarted to boot windows it refuses to boot, it restarts everytime in the Samsung Screen.
I can only acess the BIOS, I can't acess the recovery for some reason, disabling the Fast boot option did nothing, and returning the BIOS options back to factory settings also did nothing, I don't know what to do and today it's holiday where in my country so no one from Samsung can assist me.
What can I do at the moment? The computer is out of warranty can Samsung say this was my fault and force me to pay to fix the laptop?

Problem solved =) if you got here because you have the same problem I had this guides might help you if you choose to solve the problem by doing a Windows clean installation:
If you want to clean install windows via USB:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...tall-windows-7-or-8-via-usb-on-np700z.697841/
-When you install windows just install SW update and install the drivers (Avoid Samsung bloatware, only install EasySettings for ExpressCache and Fn Keys)
After installing windows and the drivers follow this guide if you don't have ExpressCache working (Check EasySettings first):
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...e-i-want-my-expresscache-back-edition.638788/
Fully working laptop with much less bloatware =)

Fortunately a boot loop but not locked out of bios. Others here should be able to help out but I think if you have a bootable windows 7 DVD you should be able to get in for temporary purposes.
-
A windows 7 copy is that what you are saying? I can try to get one.
But is there a way to create a Windows 7 repair disc to see if does anything? -
-
Clean install?
Repair option?
If I do a clean install how do I validate the installation then? -
I think, if you are just looking to boot, the repair disk will get you to the MBR of c:\. I am not too familiar with your model so I will let someone else chime in on getting it fixed to boot properly.
-
Ok but just answer me one thing if I decide to do a clean install can I use the Windows key that came with the laptop to validate the installation?
I think I will go for the repair option first since I don't want to lose functions like ExpressCache even though I could put it working on clean install with some work. -
So I am using SW update ATM to export all the drivers that my computer might need.
So the right procedure should be trying to repair the installation first and if that doesn't work try a clean install right?
To be honest I think I would go for a clean install : / the express cache isn't that hard to put working, and with a clean install I finally have freedom to update drivers like the Intel Graphics Drivers.
What would you recommend? I also want to make sure my laptop doesn't end up like some Samsung laptops I have read about in this forum, boot looping and without access to the BIOS. -
Hi Maristas12,
That's an unpleasant surprise. I am not sure what could have happened there with Recovery essentially trashing the installation.
Unfortunately I only have a few mins, but I'll give you some pointers the best I can.
I am assuming the computer came with Win7 originally, correct? This is important as it determines how the disk is formatted (good old MBR, not the newer GPT) and its mode of operation (good old BIOS mode, not the newer UEFI mode). And Samsung Recovery Solution is tied to that Windows version too.
As you and TANWare discussed, you can try a Repair from the Windows 7 Setup first. With a little luck, it can fix it.
But otherwise, a clean install should work for sure. Follow the Windows 7 install guide in this post (post #40 in that thread). If you leave the Recovery partition intact and only format (don't delete) the Windows partition, there is even a chance your Recovery will work again.
Note that you need to install from DVD on your model. If you install from a USB stick (which many do) it will cause a boot problem. There are workarounds (described in posts #1 and #2 of the same thread as that installation guide) but installing from DVD is much easier.
Use the Windows key on the sticker on your power adapter or under the laptop. But you have to install the same Windows version and language as the factory installation, for example Windows 7 Home Premium.
I hope that helps. Please keep us posted
Edit: Oh, and yes, just install the ExpressCache software as the last thing, it should work no problem. You can delete partitions on the iSSD before installing the EC software. Ignore the old advice to manually create partitions with MacDisk, it is usually not needed.
The recent thread linked below has some more info, including ExpressCache software versions.

@Dannemand @TANWare
Hi guys, thanks for the replies I am currently writing this from my laptop so everything is alright now.
I opted for a clean install via USB which meant I needed to alter somethings in the installation to make sure the iSSD wouldn't get in the way of the Windows installation (Thanks @hanime for the guide how to do it)
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...tall-windows-7-or-8-via-usb-on-np700z.697841/
During that I accidentally formatted the recovery drive though : / (The format command to ntfs formated everthing including the recovery partition)
I installed EC but it isn't showing up on EasySettings, the iSSD is currently showing on My Computer what should I do to recover its use?
Don't know if I want it though I rarely shut down my computer and 8GB of fast storage could be useful for me.
At least now I kept my Laptop bloatware free I only installed EasySettings so I could have the FunctionKeys available and the Samsung Energy modes.
EDIT: The laptop brightness is adjusting to the page it is getting a bit annoying how do I change that?Last edited: Apr 4, 2015 -

Ok I'm just installing windows updates now ( !!179!! updates) what should I do to get ExpressCache back then?
-
You can install it from Samsung Software Update. Yeah, all those updates. Would have been nice to have a SP2.
-
I installed ExpressCache but it isn't showing up on EasySettings, also the SSD is showing up on MyComputer

The SDD seems to excel in read speeds only, especially the small files as you said it.
I just formatted the SSD gonna see if ExpressCache is now working -
Actually unformat, un-everything. The drive has to have no type of allocation and then the EC software takes over everything on it.
-
Express Cache is back =)
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...e-i-want-my-expresscache-back-edition.638788/ I already had used this guide before, and it worked flawlessly agian.
Well 28hours after Samsung Recovery decided to almost ruin my computer I can say my laptop is much better now then how it was when it came from factory =)
I could write an email to Samsung saying how bad their recovery software is and how difficult it can be to clean install Windows due to the iSSD being there (Windows and Samsung fault here), but I don't want to lose more time with Samsung =P
Thanks for the help guys, hopefully people in the future with the same problem can see this topic and solve their problem. -
Good job fixing that.
Too bad about losing your Recovery, but this being a Win7 model, and you preferring clean install anyway, you didn't lose much. If you really want(ed) to, you can install SRS again using the guidance in this post and the Admin Tool ISOs posted by @dosibox later in that thread.
As for ExpressCache, it usually creates the necessary partition automatically when the software is installed, IF you delete all partitions on the iSSD beforehand and/or initialize it completely. If that didn't work, you may be using an old EC version. Again, check the thread I linked (not hanime's thread with the install guide, the recent one) as it has info on the latest EC.
Finally, you mention that you only installed Easy Settings and no other Samsung software. I assume you also installed basic drivers. In particular do you want to install Intel Chipset drivers first after a clean install, since they affect how the entire device tree is built.
You probably already did those, I just include it here for completeness.
Sounds like we're done here -
@Dannemand I installed SW Update to install the drivers and then unistalled it because it gets annoying when it shows you a message every 1 hour telling you to install things like Norton (LOL Norton?!)
I think I am good with drivers but I think I installed a Samsung-custom Intel HD Graphics driver and I can't update it, is there a workaround this? -
How about restore to a previous point?
-
So does that Intel HD driver not work? I forget whether NP700Z5C owners prefer the Samsung provided or the Intel provided driver. The NP700Z5C Owners thread (linked below) should have posts about that.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-lovers-heres-the-np700z5c-ivy-bridge.658603/
If you want to uninstall that driver, I believe you should have an entry for it in the Windows Programs and Features control panel. Otherwise Uninstall the device in Device Manager ( Delete or Remove in Win7 as I recall) and choose Delete the driver software for this device, and repeat that until you no longer get the choice. Then you can install a driver directly from Intel instead.
If it gets too messy, just roll back as TANWare suggested. That's the great thing about a new installation, you're not losing a ton of settings -
Bought a ssd, installed windows 10 on it.
Happening the same thing again.
FFS express cache you only create problems -
It's kinda windows fault for installing the system files in a 2nd HDD but Samsung could do something about it.
-
@hanime Your tutorial also works for Windows 10 preview but you need 500MB for the system files
Thanks a lot your tutorial saved me twice already -
And back to Windows 7....
Windows 10 driver compatibility = 0 guys
