Oh, lol sorry. It was 5:30am when i read your post. Under load you seem fine though nothing should cross 90C. So even with your fans on max, it should stay under 85C, I would think. Better buy some IC Diamond.

I also noticed another phenomenon with the temperatures. This test was done while playing Tribes Ascend on minimal settings. During the first round the GPU temps were ~73, and the longer I played the average temparature kept rising until eventually there were times when it passed 90C.
With Battlefield 3 the temps start at 80-85 then gradually increase to 93-96 after a few games and stay between that range. I'm terrified of those temps so I'm not going to play B3 anymore. I'm also to afraid to render movies from after effects or cinema 4d as that is what caused my laptop to give out 2 weeks ago.
I often monitored my temps over the last year, starting from when I first purchased the laptop, and I don't remember getting any temps past 85C. Usually with the fans on max it would stay in a range like 77-83. -

Yes and no. Your 485M should be able to handle stuff easily, even everything you're describing. It was and still is a righteous beast. But I would really recommend repasting your fans, cleaning out the vents with some pressurized air, and checking to see if there's anything wrong with your fans.
Trust me, save some money, do some research (like here) and make these minor changes yourself. I'll be looking forward to your results. -
I cleaned out my fans and vents with a cotton bud (and later with canned air) at least every 2 months since I got the laptop (sometimes every month).
As for the issues, I'm in contact with my reseller about it. They ran all sorts of tests while it was with them after they replaced the motherboard and VGA and the laptop worked great. And so this is a really odd case which hopefully I will get to the bottom of with my reseller. -

Hi guys,
I'm on the road and I'm trying to use my on-board microphone on the NP 8130. It currently does nothing. Can someone post a link for the appropriate driver, or is there something else I need to do to activate the mic? Anyway, the sound driver link in the driver thread does not work. Thanks for any assistance. -
Just have a quick question, my HDD is starting to fail after 2 years, and i was wondering if i can replace it with any other hdd ? even an SSD ? or it has to be a specific one ?
Thanks, What321 -

So I had to make an account tonight. I feel really dumb for just now finding out that there actually is a freezing issue with the 8130. I primarily use the laptop hooked up to my tv/receiver and for a long time I thought it was my receiver(it has issues connecting with my ps3 sometimes which led me to believe it was somehow screwing up the laptop as well) causing it because the speakers would start screeching and flipping out if the laptop froze during a movie or music, etc. Froze 3 times today, usually its just 1-2 times a week max, rarely more and a simple hard reset works as you know. I found the thread on the freezing issue and read through alot of it but couldn't find anything conclusive and its too late at night to read 51 pages. Another thing, I never sent my laptop in for the recall. I went on deployment with the navy and didn't get notice until a week later and shipping it off the ship wasn't much of an option. When I got back I got in contact with xotic pc where I got it and was told it wasn't something that will effect the system anyway but I could still send it in if I wanted. Having to deal with all sorts of life at the time I wound up never sending it in. I don't recall if the freezing had started by then or not, I'm assuming/hoping past me wasn't dumb enough to overlook a freezing issue at that time (I didn't have it set up with the receiver/tv yet). About the laptop itself, I ordered it the day it came out so it has the 460m and a 7200rpm hd, not a ssd, and win 7 home professional. I have changed nothing with the system, the temps are fine, etc. I have occasionally, when frustrated enough, tried to do a little research on my own and tried to pinpoint something down in the event log but I've obviously come up empty handed. If it is something simple like a BIOS update, or drivers for RST can someone please point me in the right direction. At least finding that thread earlier gives me some hope that maybe something can be done. The laptop works so great for so many days on end and then bam and you just can't take it anymore. I can't take it anymore

My NP8130's AC adapter port seems to be going bad as it is at times overheating and sparking inside. It looks like it'll need to be replaced, but given that motherboard replacements seem to be around $500, it's probably not a good idea. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Not much you can do. If its starting to spark i'd quit using it until you get it repaired. If its still working i'd consider it lucky that it hasnt caused any permanent damage yet. If you continue to use it as is, its bound to cause some damage soon.
-
So sager says that there is no newer bios I can get for my laptop because I still have the B2 revision of the motherboard. I don't really want to send it in because I'm not going to pay $400-500 for them to put in a new motherboard. I found the motherboard on RJtech.com but its $480, that is nuts. Is there any other motherboard I could get that would work in this body, or maybe its cheaper from somewhere else? I can install it all myself, just need the part.

Hi all, I'm trying to install a Samsung 840, 250GB SSD in my Sager NP8130 to no avail. It doesn't see it in the BIOS. Now, I did just get an email back with the latest BIOS update. Mine is the 8130 with an i7 2620, 8GB of RAM, (formerly) 500GB drive, and 460GTX. Any idea why I can't even see the drive in the BIOS? Will this update fix that?
Thanks -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Typically that will be a BIOS issue. I would update it, as long as you're comfortable doing so. Also make sure your SATA connection type set to ACHI.
You can also try to put the SSD in another computer to see if its recognized to rule out a bad SSD. -
Samsung SSD 840 Pro should work fine.
Just don't do what I did: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/719117-p150hm-only-recognises-samsung-ssd-sata-port-2-odd-bay-but-not-sata-port-0-primary.html -
Hey guys, Ive recently run into a few problems with my Sager 8150 that I bought October 2011.
Issue one is that my fans recently began making a squeaking/grinding noise. I opened it up my notebook, took apart the fans and blew out any dust around them or in the motor with some compressed air. They seem to make much less noise now, if any at all. However, I ran 3DMark11 and have noticed that my temps jumped from 80 degrees celcius after a run (about a month ago) to 89 degrees for the same run... Im assuming that is due to the fans no longer working as effectively. Any thoughts or recommendations? Ive thought about lubing up the bearings in the fans, or buying new fans, but I wanted to see what other owners thought before I spent $130 on fans...
Second problem is Ive been having random BSOD, maybe 6 in the last few weeks. Bizzarely, although I use my computer 85% of the time at home, and do by far the most strenuous tasks at home (gaming), ive only ever had the BSOD while at school just word processing or surfing the web. Doesn't seem to happen at any time in particular other than that. I tried restoring from backup, restoring from restore points, and cleaning my system with a variety of malware removal tools. Any recommendations?
Any help would be really appreciated!
Note: I forgot to say that the computer was dropped once about 4 months ago. The carrier strap on the bag it came with broke (wonderful) and it fell about 3 feet straight onto tile on the bottom left corner. The computer seems to have been running fine despite that up to this point. -

The fans sound like they are just going out on you, best advice would be to get new ones as you're going to need them eventually.
For the BSOD I'd get WhoCrashed which is a free download and will tell you specifically what is causing it. After the BSOD you open up WhoCrahsed and check the report. From there you just need to address that issue. -
I started having the same squeaking/grinding fan noise as Neatman which goes away after a while of the fans being on. I am also having problems with my laptop that just shuts off randomly when I'm playing games even when I have the fans on full blast using Fn + 1. I downloaded WhoCrashed and none of the reports are related to this problem. I'm not convinced it is getting to hot because sometimes it just shutdowns when I just start playing a game so I downloaded a temperature monitor. Do you think it could be the power supply or battery, I rarely use my laptop not plugged in.
I also have the clevo P150HM that I bought in 2011. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
You mentioned you downloaded a temperature monitor, what are the temps you're getting?
-
I was getting temperatures in the 100s celsius for my CPU so I opened up the laptop and cleaned all the dust out. Now I am down to 80s and will reapply some thermal paste to the GPU and CPU to see if I get lower temps.
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Good to hear you're making some headway with the temps. Dust is usually the cause 99% of the time. As you plan on the thermal compound will probably help too especially if it was the stock compound used.
-
Im having the same problems with my GPU fan as well. It just started this month after 3 years now... I always clean the fans every month. Around 6 months ago I repasted both the GPU & the CPU, So I really don't know what's causing it. It's running when it should not be running, and it runs constantly. Never resting like it used to do. I've heard updating the BIOS may help, but I really don't feel comfortable doing that, when this is my only machine and I'm expected to work on a project in the next week.

Fn + 1 (not F1) will tell the fans to turn on full speed all the time, maybe you accidentally press that combination. Try it again and see if it kicks them down to the speed they should be at.
-
No it's not that. It runs all the time, but not at full speed like with FN+1. It occasionally cuts off, but only for maybe 10 secs, then it starts up again. Pressing FN+1 is distinctly different then this.
I'm not longer afraid that it's going to break or anything, it's just really annoying. And I'm sure it's not good for the life of the fan. I've thought about just unplugging the fan all together and relying on the laptop cooler. -
Hi ppl im a owner of a sager np8130, and the vcard just say gg to me today (560m). So I was wondering if I would be able to install a 765m card like this Clevo P15XSM P17XSM VGA Upgrade Kit NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 2GB DDR5 MXM 3 0B | eBay
or could I install this used toshiba 560m?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TESTED-Tosh...340?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4aca4800d4
I have a 180w ac (is that enought?). Also i want to know if some reseller sells the cpu fan spare part.
thank you!. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The 7XXM series wont work on any previous models. The NP8130 should only use a 75w TDP card like the 560M and you want to stick with a Clevo card. I cant remember for sure if it will support the 6XXM, you may have to get another Clevo 560M.

Hello NBR!
I have 2 questions:
1. It is the same as the sir above me (TechNewbie) explaining how his fans are constantly working. It is very loud even when I am not playing a game. This is different then the fn + 1 which puts the fans on high. Is something not working properly here?
2. I have the P151HM1 laptop from Malibal. And it has a GTX 560m card in it. This is not optimus is it? And does my laptop alway run on my graphics card then? Or does it use the integrated intel graphics for lower performance activities?
Continuing with that question, how can I tell if one of my applications is using my graphics card? When I am playing a game will it always use my card?
Sorry I have a lot of questions, I really dont know what I am talking about.
Also how can I check the temperature of my comptuer, the cores?
Thank you! -

Have you cleaned out the internals of your computer recently? The fans could be running high if they need to. Its a good idea to clean out the fans and vents with a can of compressed air about every 6 months. They do get clogged over time and that will cause higher temps so the fans kicks up trying to cool the computer.
If I remember correctly the HM series did not have Optimus.
To check the temps of our computer download HWMonitor. If you see high idel temps, open up the bottom and give it a good cleaning, that solves overheating issues 99% of the time. -
Hi, doesn't seem like the thread is active anymore but ill ask anyways.....I bought a P150HM with a centrino advanced 6230 wifi card. When I start to play intensive games like batman origin, or BF4, after a while my wifi stops working. It sometimes connects, and still shows signal but doesn't work. When this happens, I need to wait over 12hours before it automatically starts working again.
I think heat might be what is making it stop working, because when I play less intensive games such as archeage or l4d2 nothing happens. Anyone else have this issue or a solution to my problem?
I reinstalled my drivers, so I don't think that is it.
More info: After temp of CPU reach 83C + that is when it normally happens. Also the wifi card is right next to it, so it might be why its affecting it. -

I have tried replacing it with a Centrino Advanced-N 6200. However it would not connect either. I uninstalled the old driver and tried to replace it with the N 6200 one. After I found out it didn't work either, I put the original back and tried to install the 6230 drivers back, and it kept getting error...Now both wifi cards stop working.
-
Can I suggest you try a USB WiFi card? Also have you doing the usual heat control actions like dusting the fans and intakes with compressed air?

Hello fellow P150HM owners. I'm having a bit of difficulty installing the drivers to my new graphics card.
When I originally bought my p150hm back in November 2011 it came with the Radeon HD 6970m and it was a great card for a long time. I was pretty religious about cleaning out the fans every 1-2 months but last year I neglected the fans for around 6 months and wound up frying my 6970m a few weeks ago.
I recently bought a Geforce GTX 670m to replace my fried 6970m. Yesterday I installed the new card and pasted the new GPU and repasted my CPU with IC Diamond 7.
Everything seems to be running fine, but my laptop isn't recognizing the 670m. When I go to "device manager" I don't see the 670m. It displays " Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"
So I went to Geforce.com and got the latest drivers and when I run the installer I get this message after a few seconds.
" NVIDIA Installer cannot contnue - This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."
Is this a common problem when changing GPUs? If so, please direct me to the solution to this issue. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

So I recently bought a P150HM with a defective 6970HM in it, and I baked the card. It seemed to work, however I get low FPS in BF Hardline, with medium settings at 1600x900, however I get this score in 3Dmark 11 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/9396914
That score seems fairly normal to me? :S Also temps aren't a problem.
EDIT: Just ran Hardline on my GX660R with a 5870M, and it ran much better :S
EDIT2: My CPU usage is swaying around 30-40% the whole time also.Last edited: Feb 7, 2015
