I recently bought a Sager NP8268-S. On the palm rest, there's a sticker for Soundblster X-Fi. The same thing appears on the specs listing when I ordered.

The driver disc also had an installer for X-Fi. When I installed it however, it said that it could not find the hardware. Thr sound card showed up as Realtek and it came with a driver too.

Am I missing something as far as that X-Fi is concerned? It seems odd that it is stated everywhere but the software does not work.

I am using Windows 7 dual booted with Ubuntu 14.04. The only way I can get sound to work in Windows is if I don't install the driver and just use the default one with Windows. Installing the driver causes the Windows sound subsystem to stop and no sound comes out.

Any one else with this situation?

In regards to the issue which the X-Fi MB3 says it cannot find the hardware, you just have to install both Realtek Audio & X-Fi MB3 drivers at the same time.

    1. Uninstall the Realtek Audio driver & X-Fi MB3 driver you have installed. And restart the laptop.
    2. Install the Realtek Audio driver and select "I will restart the computer later" when it asks you to.
    3. Then, install the X-Fi MB3. Once it completes, you can restart the laptop.

With this, the X-Fi MB3 should work perfectly fine.

    Thanks. Your suggestion worked.

It is odd that the driver alone doesn't work but does when installed with X-Fi as you suggested.

I am having this same issue, and tried this fix. It's still doing the same thing. It's windows 7 and trying to install Vista 64 drivers. Any other ideas? Will the realtek drivers from the realtek site work?

Often the vista/windows 7 drivers are the same package, are they still not working when trying that order then? What message does it give?

So I answered my own question.

I downloaded the Windows 7 realtek drivers/codec from: Realtek (2nd from Top)

I let the computer restart. Then I installed the Soundblaster X-fi MB3 drivers from the provided disk. Let the computer restart. Once it restarted and I started the Soundblaster software, it's working fine.

I had the same issue on my P670SG, but only when I tried to install the X-Fi driver from the driver install menu of the install CD.
When I went into the specific driver folder itself and started the setup.exe it worked fine.
