This is just a simple review of the NP8454, which I guess doesn't matter much since they've discontinued it, but consider it a cautionary tale for their future OLED units. I have had it for just over a year and I have to say that it is still a GREAT looking laptop. The OLED screen is gorgeous, no complaints there. The form factor of the laptop is excellent, full featured lit keyboard with 10 key, relatively thin bezels, solid hinges, fast enough for gaming.

This is my second laptop from Sager, the first had issues with their GPU/CPU paste application, lasted 3 years, fair but not great.
Unfortunately I will not be recommending the laptop or Sager in this post.
My game of choice is BattleTech, with the RogueTech mods. Turn based but very high graphics load. Sorry I haven't done any benchmarks (not that literate), but it runs well with most options maxed out. The problem with this laptop is not the laptop. It's the power supply, and Sager. After having it about 8 months it started shutting off in the middle of the game. It isn't the laptop shutting down, it's the power supply not being able to keep up, high graphics load with the OLED lit is just too much for it. And forget about running a laptop cooler from usb. Even with the battery removed the power supply will still shut down, let it cool a while, right back on. Contacted Sager support with 2 months left on the warranty,.....24 emails and 3 months later they send me a RMA for OUT OF WARRANTY repair.
Sager has lost a repeat customer over quality control issues and a power brick. I won't say don't buy Sager, I really like this laptop (other than the stated issue), but the frustration has made them not worth the price.

So basically you need a new PSU? (best case scenario btw)
Worse case pricing, you can pick one up on eBay or Amazon for less than $100.
But if you initiated an RMA before your warranty expired and have an email audit trail of such, you have a perfectly valid claim to warranty service. -
I believe the power supply is too weak for the laptop's power draw potential, not defective. I have been looking online but haven't found anything better yet. Actually I believe it would be fine if I could come up with a way mount a couple of cooling fans to the brick.

Do you have any correspondence from before your warranty was expired?

to me
Hi Lance Butler,
When you insert the AC adapter in to the jack, do you feel the lack loose? Do you see any LED on the AC adapter?
When the AC adapter is connected to the computer, do you see power LED and battery LED on the computer lit?
Please take a picture of the label on the AC adapter. Let me see the label.

Laptop repeatedly shuts down showing no power (battery or a/c) even when remaining plugged in (cords seated properly, household current on). Happens during gaming sessions (turn based games, not 1st person nor VR). I have to unplug the reinstall the plug for any power lights to come back on the laptop, then let it recharge to use. I do not believe the supplied power brick can support this laptop.

I'll ask and see, any particular reason for the 2.5 month gap between the support request and the RMA being raised?

Ok, you should have received a shipping label. Don't worry about the charges as this is a mistake caused by the opening of the RMA when it was. It is being treated as a warranty repair.
