Thank you all for such helpful posts. I've just installed windows 7 and had no problems locating most of the drivers following your guys' links.

However, I ran into a problem with the fingerprint reader driver. I'm trying to install the drivers from compal's site ( Welcome to Compal Driver Download Site!) but there are 2 choices: Upek or Egistec. I've tried both and neither has worked.

With Upek's drivers, I get an error that says: To use this product, Windows Biometrics Framework must be enabled.

With Egistec: I can install it but then it can't find a device

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Found out Compal put out a new BIOS 1.19.
Updated to it and found out they finally put in ACHI/IDE switching option!!!
No more booting from usb stick and using ACHI_en or_dis.
    Took them a while..

I didn't see any changelog, and besides the option to set ide achi or raid, I didn't notice any new options.
Wonder if the raid option is there for ppl who have a 2nd hdd in the dvd bay using a caddy.

Has anyone upgraded to 8 gb of ram? I'm finding that 4 gb is not really cutting it anymore and I looked around but there seems to be very conflicting information.

Some people say the chipset supports up to 6.8 gb, Sager tech support actually told me it only supports 4 gb, others say that Sager's website used to have 8 gb as an option when customizing the computer.

    What do you guys think?

What are you doing that needs more than 4GB ram?

I'm having trouble running photoshop cs 5 while having bridge and firefox open with all my reference photos. After a few hours, everything gets really bogged down. Since speed is the main factor in my work, this is a huge problem...

Would a 9600M GT pulled from this laptop function in another laptop with the same mxm socket out of the box (if said laptop supports the 9600 normally)?
    Or is it's vBIOS incompatible?
