This is the unofficial official lounge :p.
I was hoping if everyone can limit their NP5135-related posts regarding questions, benchmarks, performances, etc. etc. to this thread. This will keep all 5135 resources in one thread making it easier for others to find information as well as keep the NP5125 thread from going off topic.

I know there are a few of you out there who have the 5135. I was wondering if you can provide us or those of us who are considering this notebook with the following:

    Benchmarks
FPS in various games and various settings
    Build Quality and impressions

Just ordered one from xoticpc (thanks Brett!). Was deciding between this and the NP7130 but ultimately wanted a smaller form factor (plus there is a backorder for the 7130 while this one is in stock). I'm not sure if I'll have the time for a full-fledged review but will definitely be glad to answer some questions and run some benchmarks when it arrives.

Here are the specs (with unnecessary information removed), it's basically stock with the full HD screen, 8GB ram and 500GB HDD:
    1 x Sager NP5135 (Built on Clevo B5130M) () = $954.00
Display 15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) Super Clear Glare Type Screen
Dead Pixel Warranty Standard Dead Pixel Policy
    Processor Intel® Core™ i5-460M, 2.53-2.8GHz, (3MB L3)
    Graphics Video Card nVidia GT 425M 1024MB PCI-Express GDDR3 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology
    Ram ~ 8,192MB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS) - Special!
    Optical Drive ~Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD +/-R/RW 5x DVD-RAM 24x CD-R/RW Drive w/Softwares
    Primary Hard Drive ~ 500GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)
Memory Card Reader Internal 4-in-1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO)
    Bluetooth Internal Bluetooth + EDR
Wireless Network Built-in 802.11 Wireless B/G/N - Stock Wireless Card
Camera Built in 2.0 Megapixel Camera
    Fingerprint Reader Integrated Fingerprint Reader
Operating System No Operating System Standard - Drivers & Utility Software Only
Warranty 3 Year Labor 1 Year Parts, Lifetime Sager Toll Free Tech Support

This replaces a 5 year old HP nc8430 that decided to call it quits after years of abuse. :D

From my school's involvement in the MSDN Academic Alliance program. Free Microsoft software. :) Or my IEEE/ACM membership (although that doesn't give Windows 7 due to previous exploits).

If your school is not listed, you can still go for Microsoft's student discount (around $60+?). If you're not a student, then too bad, at least you earn more than us. :p

Otherwise, I highly recommend Ubuntu. In fact, I plan to install Windows 7 just to satisfy this forum's needs for benchmarks. My old HP nc8430 was running Ubuntu almost 99% of the time. :D

I was just asking out of curiosity; I already bought the np5135 with win7 included. I knew of the student discount for win7, but I think it's only an upgrade for xp/vista, and of course my copy of xp is OEM.

You'll have to use win7 a lot more than 1% of the time if you want to use the dGPU.

No problem, I think $90 for win7 is an absolute steal already, so you got a good deal. There are ways to use the upgrade version as a "full" version but it touches on a gray area. :)

I'm not looking to use the machine for gaming, mainly because I'm not sure how the GT 425M can handle 1920x1080 resolution. I think that for a full gaming machine, the G53JW-XA1 ($1299 from amazon) would be a better option. But since I'm not gaming on this, I could use the extra $300 in the pocket. :D

By the way, it seems like there are a lot more people with the NP5135. I just checked the NP5125 lounge and read some of the comments. Anyhow, will try to do a full review when I get it. Now, the hard part is waiting.

I'll try my best to oblige. :) It's now in Phase 2, should be here end of next week (since I chose the cheapest shipping method). :D

From what I know, it should be identical to the NP5125 (review here), apart from an updated GPU, so that review might be worth a look in the meantime.

I don't have the full version but will do the trial version test. Will probably mirror the benchmarks in the 5125 review but some of the benchmarks (PCMark Vantage) don't have a free or trial version, so I won't do them.

edit: With that in mind, does anybody know what are the standard benchmark settings? Specifically, I need to know the screen resolution to use for the 3Dmark benchmarks. Thx!

Can someone tell me the reason they bought this sager laptop? I am pretty sure you guys didn't buy it for the basics like internet and web browsing. Did you guys buy it to play games mostly? I know people buy alienware for gaming and macbooks for photo editing etc but why did you guys mainly get a sager?

Also, don't you think 1080P makes things really hard to see?

For me, the NP5135 is the cheapest laptop I can find with a 1080p screen. This is important for me as my work involves a lot of programming and I need multiple windows open at the same time. The regular 1366x768 screens that you find in most 15" laptops won't cut it.

As for 1080p making things hard to see, I believe you can adjust the DPI in the OS if you feel like stuff are too small. I haven't received mine yet so I will reserve judgment, will keep you posted when I get it. :)

If you need a "stereotype" for Sager laptops, I would say it's value for money. E.g. a similarly specced Macbook Pro would cost upwards of $1,999 (not including tax/shipping). I paid $982 shipped and I've got the updated graphics card. Which would you prefer? :D

I got the laptop because it's viable in so many ways. It can play games, it can be portable, it can be good for watching videos (1080p), it can have a longer range for wireless network connections (6300N), comes with a solid warranty (1 year parts, 3 year labor), is relatively light-weight, and is low key (no glowing alienheads).

Though, in retrospect, perhaps I should have gotten the Alienware M11x for the similar performance, but much more portability (size and battery life).

Hey guys, I need to replace my stolen Thinkpad and I stumbled upon the NP5135. I've got a few questions.

1.) Is the touchpad nice to use? Does it support multitouch? Two-finger scrolling? If not, are these options with modified drivers?

Since i'm coming from a Thinkpad I would really prefer a trackpoint but if I have to live with a touchpad i'd prefer if it had two-finger scrolling and two-finger right click.

2.) How is the overall build quality of the laptop? Does it have a strong internal chassis or is it all plastic?

3.) How small/large is it? From the pictures on the net its hard to judge how beefy it is.

4.) Will this laptop last me a few years or will it start to fall apart like a Dell?

5.) Are the speakers really horrible? I read that they're pretty bad. How do they compare to a Thinkpad T500 (if anyone can make that comparison)?

Thanks for any and all help guys. Its been tough finding the right laptop for the right price so hopefully one of these babies will be in front of me soon.

This is the summary of NP5125 review.
So assuming in NP5135 we have only the upgraded GPU, the same review still work for NP5135 :D

I've also been looking at buying one of these (i7 and nvidia 425m for about $1100, cant be beat). And was wondering if anyone had any concerns (mainly i7-wise) about overheating?

    Hi silentninja.

I'm thinking of ordering this same one from Xotic as well, and would love to see your pics/review if you've posted anything yet.

If you have, could you tell me where to find it? (And did you post it on Xotic's forum also?)

    Thanks so much.

Does anyone know if the NP5135 works well with Ubuntu.

Also what is the battery life with the i5 580?
