I just ordered the EVOC from HIDevolution, model P775TM. Getting it configured to my needs. I was told this is a Clevo make...
    a) Is it a quality product? Shell, motherboard, etc.
    b) Is the keyboard any good?
    c) Did I screw up?

Typically you should research before you buy. I have a P775TM1-G, and it's been great after the touch of Prema magic. Since you ordered it from HID, you get that special secret sauce as well ;)
It's a good chassis as long as you don't expect unreasonable things from it, what specs did you go with?
Keyboard is nice, has good feedback and keytravel. Only thing I personally dislike is the RGB.

    Thanks JC.
    i9-9900ks delidded
    RTX2080.
    Grizzly thermal package
    Dual channel 64 RAM
One monster power brick, 780w power adapter (I hope it's not as big as a motorcycle battery).
    2) Samsung 970 EVO 1TB each in both slots. One for the system and software, the other for storage.
I'm not much of a gamer at all but I do 3D CAD and modeling with Revit and Autocad. That's why I hope the keyboard would be a pleasure to type on.

Clevo keyboards you either love 'em or hate 'em. I personally love 'em.

That's a good config and with HID specialization + Prema BIOS included and a 9900ks delidded and a 2080 you should will have plenty of power and you will
be able to tweak it even further to extract as much performance as possible from your config. HID is a great company to go with for these very reasons (among many others :))

No you did not screw up at all. The only thing I would question is buying hardware right now without waiting a month for the Intel 10th gen LGA desktop Clevos (X170SM) and the Ryzen 4900 series laptops to get into the hand of end users. The 4900 series is making Intel hurt quite a bit. And I feel that's worth serious consideration, if there are no BIOS or strange AMD chipset issues.

Your choice is both a solid laptop and a legendary reseller. You will have some thermal limitations with the smaller chassis compared to the P870 TM-R however, due to the lack of the SLI vapor chamber heatsink (which improves thermals greatly when used on single card setups), so overclocking headroom will be more limited.

The keyboard tends to not be on the same pleasure level of MSI's versions but is serviceable. A 75% mechanical keyboard and external mouse would be a perfect match if you wind up unhappy with the keyboard and trackpad.

Personally I would have waited for the Ryzen 4000 Clevo laptops or the X170 10th gen Intel version at this point in time, and then decide what you want. The worst time to buy any hardware is right before a "new" product or refresh is released, unless you get a big discount. This is even more important with the next gen consoles on the horizon. I know nothing about the desktop chip Ryzen 3000 laptops, if any even exist (a 16 core Ryzen 9 3950X in a Clevo laptop would keep you happy for many years).

Thanks Falkentyne. Good info here. I'm running an old laptop now and I'm itching for this new EVOC. I couldn't help it, I'm weak. Plus, the CPUs you mention are probably way more pricier, not to mention when the laptop manufacturers will start using them. Can I always upgrade by unplugging the CPU in the future?

As for me - i didnt like the p775tm1 chassis - especially its fan grills. Mine were cracked and damaged after 2 months. Bought it from PC specialist in UK..

First impression of course is solid, the laptops seemed perfect, but later on i have encountered a lot of flaws.

The fan grills are of very poor construction with plastic rivets holding them to the bottom cover, not being the whole part of bottom cover.

For some reason there is no information reg this design flaw.

After several air flights with good and safe laptop bag i discovered that grills are damaged - couple is cracked and 3 plastic rivets absent and grill is hanging on the rest of plastic connections, so i had to fix them with super glue. It's a shame.

Also i had some chassis creaks at the HDD bays area, which drove me mad sometimes, when i was printing.. Had to use some soft plastic packaging to make a pad for the chassis cover to remove creaking...

Also i was not satisfied with thermal capabilities of cooling system, even with i5 8600k overclocked.. Cant even imagine thermals of 9900.. I have tried changing thermal interface to grizzly kryonaut, got it better, but still cooling is much worse than p870tm.

I have replaced my p775tm1 with the p870tm1 from Eurocom, however, i would definetely order it from HID, if i had more money - Eurocom offered a good deal for me.. Also i got a better cpu than ordered, unlocked BIOS and calibration profile for free.

In my opinion P870tm1 chassis is way much better than p775tm1

As for me - buying now - i wouldnt go with p775tm1 and considering that p870tm is EOL, RTX support is unofficial for this model and requires physical mod of GPU heatsink to install it (HID does that) and modded bios, i would wait for newer models based on newer AMD cpus.. However happy with p870tm1 now.. My only regret is absence of PREMA bios..

This is what I meant with, not expecting unreasonable things from the chassis. P775TM1 is the little brother to the P870TM1. However, you can get it purring just nice with right tune and mods.
In my case 4.8Ghz was the limit for daily 9900K use in that chassis. Now, with the KS you might push it higher given it runs at a much lower voltage, or tune it for acceptable acoustics, as it can get loud when pushed to the limits.
