    Wow! I posted just 13,750 at stock clocks - I have 5870's crossfired and a i7 840QM.

I'm coming from desktop-land, and Nvidia-land, so a performance laptop is new to me -could anybody link me a overclocking guide/how to? It would be much appreciated!

Can the X8100 owners tell me the X8100 graphics issues actual situation please ?
    ( About flickering/vibrating in 3Dmark/other games )
New bios/drivers resolved the issue ?

I found catalyst 8.750 - CrossfireX support added ( released on 09/01/2010 on eurocom's web ), does it fix all the issues ?
Thanks. (I'm gonna be refunded for mine)

For me, the problem is still present with the last drivers (8.753) and the last bios (1.00.11OC).

Just tried Mafia2 : vibrate a lot with CF enabled...

I've got an ebuyer 19" backpack that fits my X8100 just as it fit my M980NU. Not the thickest/strongest bag...but it only cost me about a fiver :)

Any 19" laptop bag (they're out there, just not as common) should fit it.

18" won't fit then because of the unusual 18.4" screen? Damn that's going to be tough since there's almost no chance of seeing a 19" backpack locally. I'll see if the relatives abroad can help with the 19", they do sell those in the UK don't they?

Every time they mention internal dimensions on a backpack, is it really a strict limit or do you get a bit of leeway? The sticking point with the G890 is the 439mm width which for some reason exceeds most 18" backpacks by 1-2cm. The Targus I linked earlier has no problems with depth and length, but width is out by a good 2cm.

Yes and no, it seems that there are some cases with stuttering/vibrating on the 5870CF configs.
I also have this config and i do not experience any stuttering. Keep in mind that the people who have problems usually post in forums like these. So just it looks like there are only problems with this config.

Really depends on the bag and material, so will vary. Perhaps ask the manufacturers, as most will have contact details.

Like Esparoba says, people with issues post more frequently. I know Kobalt are chatting to Clevo about my issues, having mentioned that other users they've sent these out to aren't seeing the issues, or at least haven't reported them.
As Esparoba says his works fine, and we're on the same VBIOS for example so that's not the issue.

One thing I've picked up is that the crossfire 5870s use use a stock VBIOS with lower vcore voltage settings than the standalone cards (1.05v vs 1.15v), it's possible this could be causing a higher rate of issues, as its possible some of these cores may not be 100% happy without say 1.1v going through them to achieve 100% stability, and may be running a bit 'on the edge' although this is extreme supposition.

The Alienware 5870s also run at 1.05v with no problems. I don't think that's the issue you're having. I think it's a Clevo bios issue.

The 8100 has issues and is to be avoided until its sorted.
Why are they still selling them, knowing they have a problem ?

Same reason Clevo is selling the X7200 knowing the PSU shuts down. Or the same reason Alienware sold the M15x knowing it throttled. These companies don't care.

That is really an over simplification of the problem, from first hand experience there comes a time when management says we need to start receiving revenue from a particular project, that may mean getting it out the door prematurely with some roughness around the edges. Hopefully they go back and polish it up. Engineers in particular do mostly care what they put out, but the business decisions don't rest with them. Good companies do try and fix the problems.

Ok folks. My beast came in the mail but I won't have time to do any Tests till the weekend. One thing that is troubling me though is that there is a dead pixel on the screen. The problem is though is that it is in the dead center of it! On top of that, I believe the screen I have is an LCD not the LED. Is there a way I can see the model number of the screen?

Wow I hope you paid that fee they include to give you a good screen. Never understood why you have to pay a fee to get a good screen, complete joke and should have a class action filed on it.

The brand Clevo is starting to scare me after many happy yrs. Have they hired Asus techs.

    Absolutely.
This is a list o all the games i have tested so far:
    Anno 1404
    Battlefield 2
    Bioshock
    Bioshock 2
    Borderlands
    Crysis
    Crysis Warhead
    Dirt 2
    EVE Online
    FarCry 2
    Grand Theft Auto IV
    Half Life 2 + Ep. 1 & 2
    Portal
    Left 4 Dead 2
    Metro 2033
    Mirrors Edge
    Need for Speed: SHIFT
    Sniper Ghost Warrior

All these games were put on the highest settings.

However there is one thing i have to note: people are saying the HD5870 can be set at 1.05v and 1.15v.
But according to AMD GPU Clock Tool i can set mine to 0.9v and 1.05v

Man, what seems to be the deal ? Are all SLI notebooks doomed forever to have issues ?
Recently i learned of the x7200 psu problem. Now ppl here say there are some problems with the 5870 crossfire!
Speaking of which, what problems might those be ?

Hopefuly before i make my final decision to get something (i know i want a sli machine), all the problems will be sorted out.

I really really want a X8100 but as of now I'm waiting for this. I was split between this and an alienware m17x but alienware must know everyone is having major problems with their SLI and Xfire settings cause they wont budge on the prices

Our cards are set to 1.05v at 3dclocks, some are set to 1.15v.0.9v is 2dclocks which we aren't really focusing on.
    @Likwidpain.

Check with your reseller. As the pixel is in the middle not outside they might replace it for you no fuss. Also everest home version will identify your screen.

I actually contacted them. I do have the LED and as far as the pixel, it is a stuck pixel and the advised me on how to get rid of it. Worst case senario, like you said, if I can't get rid of it that they will replace it since it's in the middle of the screen.

I don't think there will even be a debate as to where it is. I'll see what I can do on Friday.

The problems are some users get a slight shaking, and slight rolling screens at intermittant periods. It doesnt make the machine unusable but its a bit of a pain.

Hopefully it'll turn its actually a dodgy card or cable etc.

Still if you'd read only a few pages before this your question would been cleared up, the information is right there ;)

I'm hoping my timing with my own G890 isn't too atrocious what with all of the issues that seem to crop up. The power supply issue and CF problems should hopefully go away after a few weeks if I'm lucky.

Possible to set the HD 5870s voltage to 1.15v ?
I can't OC more than 750/1200 with CF enabled (775/1200 for the master) I think the GPU need more voltage.

You should be able to set the GPU's to 1.15v with AMD GPU Clock Tool.
I managed to get both my GPU's to 800/1150 this way.
But keep in mind that every GPU has different limits, so you won't always get the same clocks as others do.

Impossible to set the GPU voltage to 1.15v with AMD GPU Clock Tool it's 1.05v max and when I try to OC the system freeze for this reason I prefer to use MSI afterburner.

    I tried new games :
Juste cause 2, Serious Sam (both stuttering)
    R.U.S.E. (OK)

My problem is strange, because after the bios flash (to 1.00.11OC) I could run OCCT GPU without graphic issues and now (after my recent reinstall of W7 64bits) I still have stuttering in OCCT and same drivers & OS were used. It's crasy no ? I wonder if the OS is not the responsible

When I use the HDMI output, everything works perfect.

If anyone has an idea, I'm interested, maybe its just a bad setting but I already tried a lot of things.

Edit : Esparoba2, what is your OS ?

    Hi there fellow X8100 owners.

Im not sure if u guys can help me or not. But im having a sli problem with a new game. And yes its drivers not the game that got the problems.

No SLI is up and running for Final Fantasy xiv yet. And when it comes im afraid that it will take ages until the game is included in Clevo's own drivers. Im running the newest ones from em now.
I tried newst nvidia driver, but it made my overall fps go down. Tested it in 3dmark.

There are some tweaks on normal GPU drivers ( not laptop ) that forces the game to activate SLI, with abit of editing in the profiles. Se this link for info. nVidia SLI Fix 258.96 Drivers - FFXIVCore.com - Final Fantasy XIV Fansite

Havent tried it out since it states it worx with nvidia drivers 258.96.

Im now playing the game on windowed mode 1280*720 no eye candy, and it goes ok , some lag in crouded areas.
But reading those that gotten SLI to work get 30-40% boost in fps. Wich I realy want since i got 2 GPU's i wanna use em both..

So anyone here playing FFXIV ? What drivers are u using? SLI working?

Any other drivers then this ones I should use? CLEVO - Download ( im using W7 64bit, gtx 285, se sig for computer specs ) Which one if it is the case?

( and yes this is not a post about how much the game sux, I enjoy it, and I'm looking forward to new patches and fixes from Square Enix )

( side note; I tested the game on my tower pc and performance is better on the laptop :D )

Hi there, try out the newer drivers from Laptop2Go.
Quite frankly if you're still using Clevo drivers you're quite out of date, even heading over to Nvidia.com and seeing what they've got will likely net you newer mobile drivers.

THe reason your tower PC gets better performance is that the GTX285m is basically a downclocked 9800 ;)

    Hmm.

Yesterday I went to the Sager Drivers site...I have not updated my drivers since I bought my computer in February. I'm from the school of thought, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Well, things are still not broken, but I think it's time for an update.

What I want to know is, what drivers should I avoid? Have people had issues with any of the current batch or are they good to go?

I also see there was a Bios update...is that good to go as well or should I avoid it?

can this laptop play crysis on high 1920*1080 at 40 fps or higher?

or very high at 1600 * w/e 30fps or higher?

Shouldnt have any issues hitting average of 40 on high at 1920x1080...I could hit about 40 average with my 4850m in crossfire.

At stock I think its about 20-30% at most, not worth the cash imo.

Ok folks, looks like I am giving my Np8120 back. I was going to forgive the stuck pixel but the flickering, stuttering and juttering during gaming was just too much. It works fine when using HDMI out or disabling Crossfire but I did not pay for one card.

Granted, I knew of these issues beforehand and have seen the You tube videos, it looked managable but Starcraft 2 is virtually unplayable. I also got random BSDs even at idle!

Don't get me wrong, this is one of the fastest computers I have ever seen but I think for now I will let Sager fix their flagship X8100s and X7200s and buy a cheap Best Buy machine and hold out for SandyBridge.

    Can't win them all I guess :(
