Yeah, great choice!! This should easily upgrade to the 380m's or 5780's in the near future as well. But as it sits it should be a HOT performer!

It looks amazing, but I am still not sure if I dare to order. Really want the i7 with either 380m's in sli or 5870's in crossfire.
-
Maybe you need a lot of storage MM, but I have to ask, why you didn't get an SSD for the OS?
It's a killer notebook for sure One of only two notebooks with i7 + Sli/CF, and perhaps won't suffer from any of the faults of its competitor! -
Sager is going with 8120, as the successor to 9850? Their naming scheme is getting ridiculous.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
I agree. Go with a SSD for your primary drive. The speed increase is VERY noticeable!

Just ordered mine from Donald at powernotebooks as well. I can't say enough about what a terrific help he was.

The reason why I'm going with 2 500's over an ssd is...
I want a lot of OS space, because I tend to download a lot of programs and I run out of space there.
SSDs are twice the price for half the space...I need the space...
Plus I was told by my SysAdmin when I was telling him about my buying it that, "All harddrives fail some fail earlier than others...so save the cost." -
I would have bought one of these without any hesitation but why do Clevo persist on having a keyboard thats offset to the right to allow for those gaming controls, surely they could have put the gaming controls somewhere else that didn`t sacrifice a normal keyboard position and normal keyboard spacing.
-
Btw, is there any chance the X8100/NP8120 will be equiped with sli 380m or cf 5870 or will this be a brand new laptop? Don't really know if it will fit or not. Might be heat problems or not the right mxm?
Just dreaming of a laptop with 18,4'', sli 380m/cf 5870, i7, hdmi input, ssd, 4gb 1333mhz ram etc (and an integrated graphics option, but I guess no laptops are gonna be perfect )
While I am asking questions, does anyone know when we will see larger HDDs then 500gb (7200rpm) and why is the laptop not equiped with the newest wireless network card? I see Sager is shipping it with the newest one, but for example here in Norway they are still using the old one (5300 I think it is). -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
If Nvidia unveils the GTX 380M in two weeks, you will see the card in SLi for this notebook in the following month or two. Clevo won't give all it's other notebooks the latest card but leave it's flagship performance notebook with obsolete technology. Hard drive manufacturers usually announce newer models around the autumn and winter time if they already passed a milestone, in this case being the 250GB per platter barrier, and begin shipping out in the following spring. All of the notebooks in the current Clevo lineup are shipping out with the Intel 6300 wireless card.
-
Thanks for the fast replay Soviet. In another thread a Norwegian guy said he had ordered the laptop and that it was listed with the 5300 wireless card. *sadface*
How likely do you see the GTX 380M being reveiled in the next weeks and mabye shipping in this laptop at least in May (latest)? -

The Zalman cooler I should get for the 18 incher is the NC 2000 right?
-
I don't think the Zalman is big enough? Nothing against it, I still have mine, but check out the Cryo.
That said, Sager's don't exactly need coolers
Or do I... -
In what backpack could this monster possibly fit?
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Just buy two Delta PFB 120's, a binder rack, and a small power supply and you will have the coolest notebook on the planet.

The X8100/G890 uses the same external chassis roughly as the M980NU. It will fit on the Cryo, although the X8100 will hang off the sides slightly
Enjoy your machine Stig, it looks like a rock solid machine, especially as I've been told it doesnt suffer the stuttering issues of the M980NU -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
By the way, when people start getting these, especially if they've seen or tried an M980NU, could you feedback on the quality of the screen?
I'm presuming it's the same panel and model, but you never know whether they'll have improved the screen. -
Wow, this computer is freaking beast, congrats on your monsters peeps, I hope you guys can tame those things.
-
Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
It has shipped, it will arrive Monday!
WEEEEE!!! -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Enjoy, I'm sure it'll be a beast.

-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
lol. i'll take a pic with my m17x on my lap. i'm 5'4 so it will be interesting. i'm in class now so i can't do it right now.
-
Dang. You must be the shortest dude I know! lol
Still, the X8100 is bigger and slightly heavier thus making it more laughable
Awesome system just too darn big (for me, at least). -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Damn, you're shorter than my girlfriend and my mom. It takes a bit more than three and a half X8100's to make a dondadah88.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
lol. ok i wont take the picture then. lol.
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
For some reason, every time I see your name, it reminds me of dodongos from The Legend of Zelda. http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Dodongo
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
lmao
i'm jamaican so it means something completely different
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjQo96b-JWY&feature=related
after 1:40 he says it -
That M17x must look bigger than don.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
the m17x looks like a chump compared to me.
-
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
and she towers over that puny m17x right?
-
lol, she told me her 16.3" Sony is too big for her.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
lol. i work out alot so i'm good.
-
anyone got any reviews of this bad boy? are there andy OC options for th e920xm? does nvidia system tools allow overclock on the gtx285m's?
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
These have literally only arrived from Clevo in the last week-ish so no, no reviews yet.
There should be overclock options for the 920, unknown on the GPUs yet until they're in the hands of owners -
also, ive noticed no resellers are allowing for 3 hdd raid 0 array... is it not supported on this beast? i cant decide if i like the idea of 3x 500gb 7200rpm drives in raid 0, or 2x kingston 128gb ssd's in raid 0 and an extra 500gb for storage...
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Unsure as of yet. It may be a current limitation of the BIOS.
-
Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
Oh man, you mean I'm gonna be one of the first to get this thing? You guys are going to be angry with me then, cause I don't know anything about overclocking or any of the stuff you guys do.
I guess someone's going to have to walk me through all the benchmark stuff. -
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Haha, no worries, these chassis arrived earlier than expected, and most of the suppliers only got a small initial batch in, which is why you're one of the first and stuff like information and reviews are sparse! They really are fresh from Clevo.
-
Miss Malevolent Notebook Consultant
So you mean I won't have to come up with a review or benchmark and stuff? WHEW! I'd rather leave that to the veterans.
-
no worries, just enjoy your lappie, were not gonna force you to do anything you dont want to...
