    >< everywhere i look with games running on max i'm seeing 72 (witcher 3) 79. I was hesitant about paying the extra $40 for the IC paste, since i have some myself and I even specifically asked how good of a paste job they do, but i opted for it anyways. I remember my 9370 was HORRENDOUS and i reapplied it within 5 minutes of receiving it. Now i'm second guessing myself lol.

Riktar, Were your fans running at max speed when you were getting those temps, or were they on some other type of setting? Generally having the fans run at max speed will help if you don't mind the increased sound from them.

Yeah, the fans were on full blast with the notepal u3 fans blowing right underneath intake vents.

Might not hurt to repaste then and see if it helps. The temps aren't horribly hot, but if you are concerned and you have some ICDiamond already, it couldn't hurt.

Yeah, I'm pretty miffed about having to pay extra just to have to repaste it. I take it that it won't affect the warranty, right?

Warranty wont be affected, just be careful while doing so as any damage caused is not covered.

So I got around to reapplying the paste. Initial tests in ffxiv in the same area with same traffic (if anything more) and I've gone from 86-88 to 78-79 in game. I took pics of the stock "ic" paste... Lesson learned.

Hey, so a little over a month ago I purchased a sager NP8672 from XoticPC and have had no issues whatsoever with it, until now. Earlier today I booted it up, only to find that the screen was tinted green to a pretty severe degree. It's still functional, but it makes gaming or watching movies pretty much impossible because of the color. I've already started testing a few things out to see if it would fix it, such as calibrating the monitor, restarting the computer, upgrading the Nvidia drivers, and have even plugged it into a TV to see if it made a difference in color. Out of all those things, the only thing that had any affect was hooking it up to the TV via an HDMI cable, which made the color appear normal. This makes me think it's an issue with the actual monitor itself. However, I'm not to great with computers myself and am not sure if there's anything I can do to fix that on my end, or if my only option is to send it in for repairs. Also another question I have is if I were to go and try and fix it on my end, would there be any risk in voiding the warranty? Thanks in advance for the help.

The video cable may have come loose. Try opening the display and reinsert the cable to see if that fixes the issue. I don't know if that voids warranty for the monitor, but I don't think it should void warranty to the rest of the laptop.

Thanks for the advice but how exactly would I open the display? I know there are screws so that I can open up the bottom of the laptop, but I don't recall there being anything for the display. Also is there any way I could find out about the warranty for the monitor, because in the past hour it has now started suffering from image burn-in during normal use, and I'm not so sure that a loose cable would cause that.

You can read about the warranty here: http://www.sagernotebook.com/Warranty-Policy.html
Watch this video on how to open up the display It's the 15" version laptop, but should still be the same.

Nothing has been announced by Sager yet. They usually wait until they have physical stock or for an NDA to pass. As soon as they announce it we'll have it available too.

Is it odd that they still have the 8652 but not the 8672? Is it going to likely be a 5th gen intel upgrade?

Do graphic card manufacturers disclose release dates before they go into production or are they announced by the manufacturers and not nvidia? I ask because i haven't heard anything from Nvidia regarding the "990m"

They probably have the 8652 as they still have stock. Once that runs out it may go too. But thats just speculation, but makes sense to me and how they have done it in the past.

Not sure what the CPU will be, could be 5th or maybe 6th.

Graphic card manufacturers will disclose release dates but under NDA so we're not allowed to talk about it if we knew anything. Breaking such agreements could mean not being able to get those parts right away and having to wait for them while everyone else that didnt break NDA gets to get them.

Appreciate the answers! I know how finicky NDA's are, as I deal with them all day, so i'm not going to push it haha.

If they are releasing the new graphic cards I'm going to be an unhappy camper considering i just got this 2 weeks ago -.-... that would really be a bummer lol

does anyone know what the IPS display in the 8672S is? I don't know if it's me but it's been kind of dim even with the brightness cranked all the way up. my 9370's TN seemed to be slightly brighter. Does that sound normal?

Edit: So i started digging around and found that the 9370 had the
    CHIMEI INNOLUX N173HGE-L11
    http://www.panelook.com/N173HGE-L11_Innolux_17.3_LCM_overview_12343.html

and the 8672 S has an
    LG Display LP173WF4-SPD1
    http://www.panelook.com/LP173WF4-SPD1_LG Display_17.3_LCM_overview_24463.html

does that sound right (for the 8672)?

if that is in fact the case, they are both rated at 300 cd/m^2, any reason why one would be slightly dimmer than the other?
on a side note is the LG response time really 25ms?

You do get slight variations from panel to panel.

You can try to get additional screen brightness in Nvidia Control panel under the adjust desktop color settings. But too high will wash out your screen.

But all sagers 8672 Ips panels are the LG model right? and not some variant?

I tried to tweak with that, i've been unable to locate the brightness toggle onthe nvidia control panel but i did find it in the Intel panel. you were not exaggerating when you said it will wash it out lol.

Indeed :), use it for just bump it up a little, just enough to see if you can get the brightness you want.

Anyone have issues with the headphone jack? Typically i'm either listening to audio via USB & my Logitech G930's or the onboard speakers. I recently plugged in my Sennheiser HD555 's in the headphone jack and i could not get any audio to play through it. I've successfully used them in the past with great results but tonight i cannot seem to get anything to work in the headphone jack. The system shows a popup recognizing that i plugged something into the 3.5mm jack but no audio comes through. I've tried rebooting, ensuring that the proper default audio device was set (Realtek High Definition audio), different headphones, etc.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm beginning to think that my headphone jack is shot??

After trying a myriad of different things, i tried the "windows 10" driver off Sager's website. That seemed to do the trick.

On a side note, it seems that Sager has discontinued this model. That was fast. I guess it wasn't selling very well.

Mobile skylake just launched, so that likely is the reason for the discontinuation.

My CPU throttles to 26 watts whenever my GPU is running with a high load. Anyone know how to stop this? Temperatures are nowhere near an issue for either CPU or GPU, and I even got a 230w power supply.

Uninstall Clevo HotKeyApp, reboot, set the system to performance mode and make sure that its BIOS server process is no longer running, then repeat your test.

Hey, guys, I recently purchased an np-8672s from xoticpc, one of the last ones I believe. It had been running absolutely perfectly until about 8 days ago, when, on waking it up from hibernate/sleep, it started to beep extremely loudly, the fans turned on max, and the computer restarted. When I turned it back on, it did the same thing again. Once unplugged however it stopped doing it, and I was able to plug it in again later, and it worked fine for a time being. After gaming for a couple of hours, it then started to beep and restarted again.

I've since contacted xoticpc, and while the guy I've been talking to has been very nice and helpful, and has contacted Sager, nothing has been solved. I have HW Monitor installed, and while sometimes it seems to occur when the temperature gets high, other times it occurs when the temps are all relatively low. It seems to mostly occur when plugged in, but sometimes it occurs when it's not plugged in. I'm wondering if the aforementioned hotkeyapp is messing with it, or if its a BIOS thing, but I could be completely off.

Anyway, I'm attaching pictures of the inside of it, a video of the beeps, and a screenshot of hw monitor during the beeps in the video. Lastly is another screenshot of HW Monitor, this time, I unplugged the computer, let it sit for around 20 minutes, and then plugged it in and played Dragon Age Inquisition for around 20 minutes with absolutely no problem. . .Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try reflashing the BIOS and EC since it's the EC that is detecting something out of range and shutting down the system. It's hard to say exactly what since it monitors many values.

So would resetting the EC be just completely getting the charge out of the computer, by holding down the power button with the battery removed? If so, this computer's battery doesn't seem like something that should be removed, so I'm not sure the exact process. As far as flashing BIOS, would that mean downloading new ones? I've skimmed instructions on how to flash them, but if you had any specific recommendations, I am all ears.

    Thanks for the reply

Due to the type of issue I don't think a basic reset will do, I think a reflash is your best bet. You could have a look a premamod.com

He has modded and original files along with flashing instructions.

If I reflash the bios using stock BIOS, will it void the warranty? If there's a chance it's a hardware problem, I'd rather the warranty not be voided.

Do you or anyone else have any opinions on whether it's a hardware or software issue? They want to do a RMA, but I'm not sure about doing it. I have to pay for shipping if it's software related, plus I don't have the original box.

    HELP! BSOD very often.

I own the P670SE and ever since I got it (~2 months) I have encountered a lot BSOD (~10 times maybe). And as far as I remember, it always shows a message about nvlddmkm.sys. And sometimes it was not because I were playing games. It's just happened when I tried to watch some video on steam. And this morning, I turned on my laptop and went take a shower, when I came back, it was BSOD again. Pretty random sometimes.

I've just installed the latest Nvidia driver today. I uninstalled the old one, restarted but then my windows automatically installs a default driver for the GTX 970M I guess so I didn't uninstall that one and just installed the latest one anyway. Is that a problem? If so, how can I install new driver properly because if I uninstall the old one, the first thing after reboot is my computer automatically installing the driver? Or is there a chance of defective hardware?

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

UPDATE: After trying to uninstall and reinstall nvidia latest driver (355.98), the problem seemed to get worse so I installed the 355.82 instead but nothing worked. I notice that after I uninstall the driver, nothing would happen but after I reinstall the driver and restart, my laptop will freeze. I see the MSI Afterburner icon started right before my laptop froze. So I guess it's somehow related. Is there a chance it's because of MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner? Because in before, sometimes I use nVidia inspector to limit fps and just as I opened it, I got BSOD too.

Do you have restore disks? Try going back to a stock installation.

Failing that try booting into safe mode, removing all nvidia drivers and re-installing the ones shipped with your notebook. If it still crashes when you put the drivers on, speak to your reseller.

sorry for the late reply. After that I tried to uninstall MSI afterburner and Rivatuner and it was fine. Not sure in the future tho.

I think I have restore disk but my laptop doesn't have an optic drive and it doesn't come with a windows so I did the install myself and downloaded drives from Sager website. The first BSOD as I remember was caused by nvidia inspector when I tried to limit fps. Was using MSI afterburner and rivatuner ever since but then I got this. I'll plan to install windows 8.1 soon so I'd not bother reinstalling this windows 7.

You may want an external disk to take an image backup to in case of disaster recovery :)

did you mean an external HDD to backup my data? Or to restore my windows with a system image? If the worse comes to worst I guess I'll reinstall windows. I have a bootable usb that may come of use.

anyway, not a related question but during my BSOD disaster, I uninstall the Hotkey thing because it often stops responding for no reason. Thus, my laptop doesn't show any notification when increasing/decreasing brightness, toggle touchpad on/off, blah blah blah... Today I reinstall it and for the first time I really take a look at it. It has some options and I always choose the performance one. But there are some small buttons. Tried to hover my mouse over it to see if it says anything but it doesn't.

    Here is the picture:
    1 is for Number lock
    A is caps lock
downward arrow is what? Looks like the reverse download button in Steam.
plane is airplane mode I guess.

This is purely to satisfy my curiosity.

I mean do a backup for future use, an image of the system in its default state.

    Hello gents,

it feel very strange that this thread is not more active. It's a pretty damn fine machine. I would expect it to sell like warm bread.

    I just ordered the "new" gen. - Clevo P671RG, 6700HQ, 16gb DDR4-2133, 970m 6GB (mySN - XMG p706)

Anyone else pulled the trigger on one of those? Would be awesome to hear some first hands during the abhorrent waiting period ;)

    Cheers

Congrats on the new system, bahkata. You could go back and check through this thread, and see what people have said. Or even reviews about the P67xSE or SG models would give you an idea of what to expect, as it was basically the same system (just refreshed now with the newer processors).

    Thanks, Pat.

I had already rummaged through the 75 pages before posting. Hence the surprise about the skim user base of an awesome model.
Was thinking about starting a threat for P671 owners but as you said, it is just an incremental update so maybe not appropriate.

My main interest was how much do the Skylake and DDR4 RAM affect battery runtimes. Reviews show some improvement but wanted an honest layman's perspective.

You guys (xoticpc) are keeping a very healthy presence here, tho. It's always refreshing to see some honest involvement. If I was US based you'd, hands down, get my money ;) (Sweden slaps 50-60% tax on imports)

Keep up the good work and have a solid week.

It's a small boost, most people won't notice the difference but small increases over time help :)

Just ordered a 670rg myself from xotic. With the 980m and 6700. Meant to get the 15" accidentally ordered the bigger one. There are worse mistakes than that I figured and kept the order.

My only question is are the speakers really that bad? Is the subwoofer a bit gimmiky or does it actually kind of work?
