Thought I'd get this owner's lounge started. These are the 17" variants of the 15" P650SE/SG. More details will be provided as they become available.

LPC has provided the spec sheet:

As I write this, Bluemobility says the product will be in stock on December 5th.

MySN and PCSpecialist both have the P670 on their respective websites available to configure.
MySN calls it the XMG P705.
PCSpecialist calls it the 17.3'' Defiance.

Interesting to see that the P670 seems to get a Subwoofer on the base.

If it uses eDP I'd imagine there would be. The G751 and GT72 both use 1080p IPS displays (I wonder if they are the same model) so even if not offered by your reseller, obtaining one of these and slapping it in shouldn't be too hard.

Does the 15 inch P650x use eDP?
If yes, then I don't see why they change it in this 17 inch version.

This is the model I've been waiting for, Mythlogic also has them up for pre-order with no IPS screen but they do offer a Full HD (1920x1080) Matte 72% NTSC Color Gamut LED Backlit LCD option, not sure what screen they use but it has decent specs.
I don't mind if it's a TN panel as long as its a very good, sure I'd be great with IPS but can live with it if it doesn't but it has to have good viewing angles and color reproduction.
Looks just as sexy as the smaller model.
Anyone know the dimensions ? It looks a bit thicker than the P650SE version but overall very nice.
Hey HT if you do a review of this model (please do :)) can you get the 980M version! ;)

Any chance it'll have a 3/4k display? I haven't seen one of those on any 17"-er yet..

I'm pretty sure there are only 15" 3K/4K screens a available so far and have yet to see any 17" screens, I could be wrong but I haven't heard of any.
I think the best we can hope for is a 1080P IPS screen but those are hard to come by too.
We might be stuck with TN panels on this model, which I don't mind if its good.....saying that I would love to see optional IPS screen, maybe like the 15" we will see IPS options a month or so after release if we complain enough ;)

    Chimei N173HGE-L11 (LVDS)

    Chimei N173HGE-L11 (eDP)

    Auo B173HW02 v1 (LVDS)

Thanks for the info on the screens Prema, out of the three screens you posted which one is the best and how would you choose as to what a reseller has to offer? Is it luck and they send you whatever screen they have in stock?
Can we expect a Prema BIOS mod for this laptop?
    Thanks.

I was looking up a 670SG on the Bluemobility site earlier to reply to someone in Poland looking for a 17" desktop replacement and saw this:

I got all excited for a minute and came to post a "Hey, look at this!" Then I asked myself, why is this the first time I'm hearing about any of these? I am a total neophyte on laptops, but I was pretty sure someone would have mentioned this by now. So, I went to the configure screen, and the only thing listed is the standard FHD screen.

Oh well. I wonder how long before they get that corrected.

The reseller that I'll be getting my 670SG from says that the 3K screens have a totally different connector than the FHD screens and that therefor the 670SG will not be retrofit able once the 17" 3K screens become available.
What kind of connector would that be then?

They'll need 4 lane eDP cables and connectors, on the P6 series as long as it CAME with a eDP screen you'll just need a cable and a screen, but as far as we can find... better than FHD 17.3" screens aren't really a thing that anyone wants to discuss nor are they in a shipping product from any other laptop manufacturer (willing to be proven wrong).

Why the blue blazes are they only making 3K screens in 15.6"??
Might as well go 8K then, you won't see the difference.
I'm sure it must be easier to make the (slightly) larger pixels on a bigger screen, right?

Anyway, I was ever so slightly bummed that the soldered on 980's only have 4GB while the MXM cards have 8GB, like in the P170SM-A's.
A burned GPU will basically cost you a new laptop with all the parts soldered on...

I imagine it's because 15.6" is a more popular form factor so manufacturers will try to fill that market before branching out.

Probably also the reason why 13.3" screens are HiDPI as well. 17.3" seems a bit niche these days.

Hey mythlogic can you go into a bit more detail about what exact screens will be available with this model.
I know both are TN and you do offer a screen upgrade but it would be great to know exactly what we are getting and the pros and cons of both.Better viewing angles?

Hello, i have a few questions concerning this laptop, hence very intrested in purchasing it.
For the basic configuration with the default TN panel:
-How is the panel, how bright does it get?
-How many hertz does it run at?
Can anyone list me online resellers that will ship this to Canada?

    Thanks !

You will probably have to wait until these are in stock before we can get you this information.

I think most Sager re-sellers ship to Canada. You will want to look into brokerage fees and taxes like PST/GST/HST as you will have to pay those at the time of delivery.

The NP8672 specs say the power supply is only 180W....All other systems running a 980M seem to be using 230W power supplies. Is this going to cause throttling or other issues?

Msi and sager/clevo both have 980m systems with 180w supplies. See the p150sm as an example.

Man, when is Sager/Clevo going to start offering 220W-240W power supplies with top end GPU laptops? It's ludicrous to offer 180W. I mean Maxwell is pretty power efficient but still pushing the limit of the PSU even at stock settings.

But just as a reminder that you can buy a Dell PA-19 from eBay (or whatever) and then buy this adapter: X75 Power Connector - 7.4 x 5.08mm Female Jack to 5.5 x 2.5mm Male Plug

Keep in mind that this is a 19.5V AC adapter and the P650/670/651/671 blah blah Clevo's are 19V. It should still be safe, as it's less than 3% variation in voltage, but a risk nevertheless.

Actually the 980M has reigned it in so for stock it should be just fine, higher capacity bricks are bigger and heavier.

I don't mind a bigger brick if it allows me to overclock further.
As soon as I get my unit I'll load it to the max and see what my wall socket power usage monitor thingamajig says it uses. If it's anywhere near 180W then I'll go find myself something bigger.

I've went through most european resellers to find myseld the perfect p670, and I was already leaning to a XMG P705 with the gtx 970m. However, today I found the 3XS graphite LG1720 from Scan and found out I could get a laptop with GTX 980m for almost the same price other resellers sell 970m.

Do you guys know how legit Scan is? Because for me this sounds too good to be true, but I'm really tempted to get a laptop with GTX 980m.
