I would post some pics of mine, but my camera kinda broke when I accidentally dropped it down a flight of stairs..... Yeah I know.... I do have my phone but those pics never do anything justice.

Also as others have said, my vent LED's are not working either. Odd.

I've been doing some asking, and I do not think that my brother (who has the same laptop) has the aformentioned LEDs in the exhaust or around the keyboad.

Has anyone else noticed that Sager's hotline is down? Two days in a row I've called with no answer or access to voicemail.

im gonna get it from BTO tommorow.
then drive home like an idiot with 200 over the highway.
get home install battlefield 3 or crysis 2 and then make pic's & video.

    any benchmarks needed?

p.s there are NO light's in the vent wholes.
this has been a joke or something since its not in there.
asked at BTO nd they didnt even know how i came up with it lol

What GPU did you get? I'd like to see some benchmarks. I'm thinking about getting one myself, but not sure what GPU I wanna go with. I'm thinking about the 560m SLI because of the price, but haven't seen any benches on them. If I can talk the wife into it, I'll end up getting the 580m or 6990m.

About the blue lights in the vents, if you check out Malibal's website, they have it showing the blue lights on. Not sure if it's something they do, or just a mock up pic that they have up.

i got the 560gtx in sli because thats expensive enough since im a student.
tell me which benchmarks you want to see and ill post them with pic's + video tommorow !
if you read the whole topic you will find 580 and 6990 single have the same performance but costs more money.
so if you would go for better gpu, go for crossfire 6990

blue lights is a mockup, or atleast BTO told me that

Not sure if the 12gb hyperx is 1600 MHz or not, but I ordered a similar setup. The 1600 DDR3 doesn't mesh with the 2670QM, as that only supports 1333 DDR3 max.

I got the 1600 DDR3 exchanged for 1333 DDR3, and now everything works really well.

anyway i dont change it cus ill be buying a new cpu in 2 years or something.
so no problem. also he sayd i wont see the diffrence unless i work allot with RAM and i dont do that so its oke ^^

You can run whatever benchmarks you think are best. I'm not very experienced on benchmarks and what to look for. I'm learning a lot from you guys though, so hopefully soon I'll be an expert :). Mainly I would like to know how well it runs the more power hungry games out today on max settings, or the highest settings possible with decent FPS. Thanks.

If you don't bench, then just give your opinion on how good you feel the cards are. I'm not too heavy into gaming, but I do play some games. Plus I would like to know how you like the keyboard set up. It looks like it may take some time getting used to.

im used to g15 keboard so if its hard to get used to it ill report it.
ill do some benchmarks nd post them for you.
but i think dual 560gtx is enough, you keep paying more and more. and the diffrence isnt that much since soon 590 etc come out and is 10x better like always.
i drawed the line at this setup, 19 years old and student so cant pay more tho ^^

I ordered the same configuration as you did, and for me Windows programs crashed all the time. When I ran a memory test, it showed several (random) errors all over the memory. Replacing the DDR3 1600 with DDR3 1333 fixed all that.

Now that might have been a fluke, just want you to be aware of it.

Just to make clear a point on the lighting on this model...

The NP8180 (P180HM) no longer has any lighting effects in the front or the vents. If you see pictures of this it is the old NP8120 (X8100) model not this model.

For correct lighting effects users should look at the pictures on Sagernotebook.com... for one... :)

In my opinion it looks amazing. My only gripe is it's a fingerprint magnet. The only non-glossy part is the keyboard. They did however include a nice microfiber cloth for just this reason.

It also took me a while to get used to the keyboard placement. As you can see in the last pic the keyboard is to the right to make room for the game macro keys. This can be confusing for your fingers if you are used to the P150Hhm like I am.

Another thing to note is the speakers. They sound decent but it takes a while to get them configured just the way you want them. I still don't have them sounding right for BF3. It's okay though since I have a headset.

I was informed by Malibal that this laptop does not support Fn + 1 Auto/Full speed fan control. At first I was disappointed but the cooling on this beast is amazing. I played BF3 last night for about 2 hours and the 6990's never went above 80* C with stock clocks. I then undervolted them to 1.05v and the temps didn't go above 75*C. The fans are a little louder than the ones in the P150HM but they also provide much better cooling.

In terms of power consumption, playing BF3 on Ultra settings, (even AA at max) I never saw my Killawatt meter go above 235 watts. That gives plenty of room for overclocking if the motherboard can handle it.

Here is a stock 3dmark11 run with the specs in my sig.

    My speakers work just fine,

I got mine with ssd 510, very satisfied with how fast it loads ; even though it is quite expensive.
    All other specs work fine.

Would like to thank illegear where I bought my laptop for there outstanding support for purchasing this laptop and I hope it is as is after.

I had an issue with the sli being used with sc2, but it was a software problem with sc that was easily resolved by switching the sli off and on again.

My speakers work fine, as well.
In a previous post not too far back, I mentioned that I think that whoever put my machine together may have had some wires crossed.
I asked if anyone noticed that all the "front" sound comes from under the palm rest, while all the "rear" sound comes from the sound bar under the LCD.
Am I alone in this? Is there a reason for this arrangement, or did someone assemble my laptop wrong?

Also, my laptop scored P4106 in 3DMark11. Not too shabby.

small update from me since i have it 2 days now.

i got no problems with the design or anything else, its just perfect.

tho my intel 6200 ultimate card keeps disabling for some reason nd need to use : resolve issue to get connection again. trying new drivers otherwise back to the BTO.

the hyperx works pefect(somebody sad it made problems with 2670Q) same as the 560gtx sli even crysis on ultra works without any lags or anything.

sound need a bit editing yeah but its not bad.
il post a movie as soon as possible !

    dissapointment :
the G keys can only handel combinations cant startup programs or anything like the G serie keyboards from logitech with g keys.

Hi there, I am torn between the 170 and 180 for a few reasons. Number one on that list is the 120hz 3d matte screen available with the 170. Does anyone know if there is a compatible 120hz screen for the 180, or one in development?

@kaasop92: If the G keys can handle combinations, look at a program called autohotkey. This lets you create custom hotkey combinations that, I assume, could be programmed into the G keys. The possibilities are endless.

    *************

Also, for anyone interested, these are the best laptop capable non-SSD hard drives I have found. They are server class. 6gb/s (I assume the 180 can handle 6gb/s?) and a 64mb buffer:

    Seagate 500 Gigabyte SATA 6Gb s Constellation.2 7200rpm 64MB Cache

If you pop in two of those and put them in Raid 0 for extra performance and apprx 1 TB total usage, you can offset the single drive apocalypse risk by throwing in a 3rd "cheap" 1 TB 5400 drive for daily backup.

Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1 TB Internal Hard Drive AmazingCellulars.com , Computer Parts, Books, DVD Movies

This seems pricey, but the performance should be quite good and the amount of space is phenomenal when compared to price:space for SSD.

    **************

Can anyone confirm if a company like Malibal will ship with no RAM or HDD for a discounted price?

I am still thinking about getting this laptop, but from the pictures I have seen, it doesn't have the same lighting as the one shown on the Malibal website.

For those that have purchased this from Malibal, does it have the blue lights in the vents, and is the tribal design in blue? If not, is there anyway to get this done, perhaps by calling them and asking for it?

Most resellers do this for customers only. Certainly if you have purchased this model with the SLI 560M's and now want the 6990M Crossfirex setup with the 300w PSU then your dealer will set you up.

At least this is how we do it. :)

The lights on the lid alternate between red and white, along with the trackpad which alternates white and blue; I can't tell what makes it change but I don't mind so much.

Last time I'll ask, I've posted in several different forums and can't get an answer.
Speaker placement. Anyone? I posted twice before.
My front left and right are coming from under the palm rest, and the rear right and left are coming from the sound bar under the LCD next to the center channel.
It doesn't make sense that the rears are coming from the front, and vice versa.
    Anyone? Thank you.

It really depends on how you look at it. To me the speaker placement is fine, but it doesn't really make much sense to put surround sound on a laptop anyway. If I want surround sound, I'll hook it up to my surround sound system or use my surround sound headphones.

I'm debating whether the NP8180 with Dual 6990m's is worth the extra money over the NP8170 with one 6990m. I've seen that one 6990m is about mid-range of a regular PC card, averaging 25-35 FPS on a game like BF3. Will getting the 8180 with dual 6990's give me a super boost in FPS, in the 60 FPS range? Those that actually have the laptop with the dual 6990's can you give me your input? Eldaren I think I see you have that setup? Thank you.

Typically crossfire gives around 70-90% increase in performance. It's completely driver dependent, so performance increase depends on the game and how mature the drivers are for that game.

It was totally worth it to me. Maxing out BF3 completely, it never dips below 45 fps. Turn off AA and it never dips below 60 fps. These cards are pretty beast in crossfire and should futureproof your system more than just one card.

Also if you're into overclocking, it scales better with crossfire. Depending on the application (based on my own experience) a 10% overclock could yield up to 10% increase in frame rates.

I was wondering what bags (Preferably backpacks) could fit this beast in.

I know Everki has two awesome backpacks:
    TITAN
    BEACON
I'm not sure the Beacon model can fit the NP8180 though.

Those are hard to find in my region, and I'd preferably like to physically see the backpack.

    Any other good backpacks?

I actually have liked this backpack in the past. Back when I worked on the retail side of things we sold that as our primary piece for 18" notebooks and it worked well.

Anyone else having sound issues I cant seem to get any volume out of this thing?

I should say I cant seem to get much volume. I also can't keep the back lighting working on the top touch keys. Thinking of sending it back unless I can figure out how to fix it.

Have you made use of the Fn + F5/F6 key combination? Have you checked the manual for adjusting the Realtek HD Audio Manager? See pic below. :)

Yes Ive tried that and Ive played with adjustments I just cant get much along the lines of volume out of this thing. Then again I haven't had much luck with this notebook period. If i can be sure the only thing that doesn't work with this laptop is the lit buttons above the keyboard I was considering calling it a wash and just dealing with it. Thanks for taking the time to post the image.

Try reinstalling the hotkey drivers. Then reinstall the audio drivers.
