Got mine last night. Happy about the screen upgrade even though cant compare to the stock. One stuck pixel, not too bad in the upper left quarter.

So far so good. Windows installed easily, all the drivers as well installed very easily.

Ive been using it for the past day at work and have to say I was worried about the keyboard but im reassured now. For anyone that has doubts, yes its a bit smaller than usual for this size. My only gripe if i would have to would be the smaller number pad as I work with numbers and run many scenarios, but im getting used to it and its not too bad.

Starting to install some games but i'm not worried at all and am sure will more than satisfy my needs. For anyone who has doubts about purchasing this computer, in my opinion (so far) you should go for it as its turning out to be great. I feel like I was stuck in the stone age with my 2 year old HP totally ignorant tolerating inefficiency and under performance, this thing is so freaking fast.

Appreciate everyones comments very very much and am now going through again the threads to get to the shortcuts, hints, etc. Thanks again this forum is so very helpful.

Btw I wanted to ask, how is the quality of the chassis for you guys? While the internal hardware is running fantastic on my rig, I find that the chassis quality is a little disappointing- power button is slightly slanted, the wrist plate is a little uneven, and a bit of plastic turned discolored (whitish) underneath the forward audio grill.

Does Sager's warranty cover chassis damage?

When people run 3dmark06 they usually do it at the default settings (1280x1024, no AA, no AF), from your previous post it looks like you ran it at 1920x1080 with some AA and AF ;)

In response to chiapet874...My laptop also had some minor paint missing by the touchpad and lowerleft section. Its not bad but enough to bother me. I doubt anyone got flawless chassis which is a bit disapointing. Everything else is good though.

Go into your BIOS and then go to the menu option labeled 'Advanced Chipset Control'. There is a bluetooth toggle there. It's set by default to turn off at each reboot.

I'm not going to review the NP8170 again, there are already many other reviews on this forum, but here are my views and comments. I have the NP8170 for 24 hours now, and I'm very impressed with the "Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Glossy Screen w/ 90% NTSC" screen. I'm glad I took the time and the money to get the screen upgraded.

Got a scare today, when the JMicron Gigabit network stopped working in the office, but it may have been a glitch, as I had already transfered over 500GB of data non-stop to the laptop. Had to fail down to the WiFi in the office to finish my transfers. Tonight, it's working again after.

Downloading the Intel Centriono Ultimate-N 6300 drivers from XoticPC or Clevo took too long last night, so I installed the Official Intel ProSet Wireless WiFi 13.5 drivers. I really like the GUI interface from Intel.

For quick system benchmarking, I did a Geekbench 2.1.13 (x64) run on my old Sager 9262 with a Q9550 (4c @2.8Ghz) and 8GB and I had a score of 4700. Ran Geekbench 2.1.13 (x64) on the NP8170 with i7-2820QM in Performance Power mode (4c/8t @3090Mhz) and 16GB of memory, and my Geekbench score is now 10002 (Saw a 11000 on first run, but I had not installed all the drivers and software & services).

I have 8gb (2x4gb) of the default Samsung DDR3 1333 memory in my Sager NP8130 config and want to expand to 16gb. My current Samsung memory information is attached. I am looking to purchase an additional 8gb (2x4gb) of the same default Samsung memory. It's my understanding that some Sager/Clevo owners are upgrading to DDR3 1600 memory and might consider selling their current Samsung default memory. Please leave me a message if you are willing to part with your Samsung memory for a reasonable price. Again, my Samsung specs are attached and I am looking for matching Samsung RAM sticks. Thanks in advance for your considerations.

It's a term referring to the NTSC Color gamut, which is, put simply the range of all possible colors that can be produced with RGB (red, green, and blue). A 100% color gamut screen can display every single color that can be made with these primaries. A 50% display can only display 1/2 of them (and can lean more red, or more green, etc).

Essentially, screens with higher percent color gamut can display a much wider band of the available colors accurately.

If you're just looking for photos of the 8170 stock, check out the product page on the reseller you're looking at. Most should have galleries with pictures of the laptop. Clevo also lists them as well on their site.

Can anyone comment if the 120Hz 3D display would be better/equal to the other upgraded screens that are available? Does 120Hz make that much of a difference? I definitely want to upgrade the screen but I'm not sure which one to go with.

AF is like zero hit, on modern GPUs. Always use 16x.

Well mine took longer because I got caught in a GTX-485 back order at Sager I think. So it took about a week longer. I ordered on 4/15/11 and received it on 5/11/11 (NBD shipping). Seemed like forever. I would say 3 weeks would be realistic depending on your shipping method.
