Any idea when or if the 6970 be available for sager? As you guys know you can get it for the 17x3r but will sager just stick with nvidia or do you think that for sure they will offer it eventually? Has a new gpu come out in the past with a new sager model relatively new? Will they wait until the customers that have ordered get their laptops?
-
Sager has confirmed that they are testing 6970 gpu's, so they plan on offering them eventually.

No, I have no budget as all this is being paid for by my grandfather who doesn't want my crazy aunt to get any of his money, and he rolls in 75k a month apiece from 4 differentr gas wells on his propert, and the most expensive thing he does is splurge on new fridges once every couple of years. Other than that he is content in his chair watching Fox and CNN.
and...

Take into consideration I really actually need that BRB BADLY. You wouldn't believe how much use the BRD on my Vaio gets, as well as how much use my PS3 gets between Hulu Plus, Netflix and BR discs.
People so clueless shouldn't be allowed to have that much money, what a waste...he will never need/use that much power. Freakin rich people.
Also, lol@ him buying an external usb bluetooth adapter when bluetooth is built in. -
Plus, not sure why he got an external blu-ray when he could have just got one internal. It will burn DVDRW's too. -
Edit: Htwingnut beat me to it -
I hope he's just trolling and people like him dont actually exist.
-
-
I still think it's a troll topic though. -
If someone offered me the sky, I'd go all out too. Though I wouldn't make HEY, LOOK AT ME thread on the internet.
-
Edit: Found it in the killer card thread.
-
-
-
I don't think that guy is just making a troll topic. There are people like this. I have seen them in the Army. Some kid strait out of high school gets his first paycheck ever and spends it on the most expensive "whatever" he thinks he needs. Some people just don't know how to bargain shop. The problem with buying so much external stuff is, you can get it cheaper somewhere else, like newegg. People like this need help, but, maybe if more people were like him it would help stimulate the economy.
-
I owned a killer NIC when they first came out. To me they are overpriced and they don't work much better than a normal NIC. At the time i bought mine there support sucked too, not sure if its the same. I gave up on bigfoot a long time ago. I honestly don't think these NIC cards will give you an difference or any less latency either.
In fact i remember i got banned from their forum because i simply stated the problems i was having. I never said the card sucked, I just stated the problems i was having to see if anyone had fixed it. This is how bad this company is. So be cautious when buying one of these. -
Thanks for the info - that actually really helps me. I was slightly considering giving it a try, but now I get to save my $15.
-
Yeah, save your money and get an Intel. It might reduce latency by 5-10ms at best, but Intel ones are pretty darn good.
-
Sorry for the completely off-topic reply here, but it really saddens me that people are such utter jerks. If the OP is genuine in his request for help, why not do that, and have fun helping him spec out a meaningful machine on his unlimited budget? If he's not for real, it's still a fun exercise in "what if". But to be nasty to him... I guess I just don't understand the mentality of people who would rather hate than play. -
I'm with you gsnorby. I'm sure everyone person here at one time has gone to the alienware website to build the "ultimate machine." I do it everyone once in a while just to see how expensive I can make a computer. Now how many of us wouldn't hit the buy button if we were playing with an unlimited budget? I don't waste money, but if i had a rich uncle that wanted to buy me any laptop that's what I would do. Everyone on that site is critical because they know about laptops and computers but many people on this site would look exactly the same if they had an unlimited budget to buy a fully loaded car, or boat, or something that they didn't know much about. So, you go and ask the experts. That's all he is doing.
-
If I wanted to forego more money, and didn't mind carrying around a 17" lappie, I would also customize a maxed out 8170 just to see what I can get for my money. -
Ok, we GET IT. DROP IT. Why does anyone care what this guy chooses? Can we stay on topic please? I come here for info on laptops, not forum drama.
-
After reading the entire thread, the troll seems to be the one doing the insulting. Like many others have said, its their money (or in this instance, his grandfathers) and they have the right to do whatever they want with it. Hell, if I had the money. I would spec out the x7200 with SLI 485m, 990x, 16GB of RAM, and anything else I felt like doing. After that I would buy a 13in MBP to take to class instead of this 8130.
Keep in mind that there are people who truly have no idea about computers. There are people who wonder if a 485m can handle Black Ops and the responses received are that of confusion. As if everyone buying a computer knows what they are getting. Most people think that the higher the number the better it is. Let's not forget that there are people on this very forum that upgrade yearly once updates come out for a mere 10% gain.
Is there a possibility that the thread is a joke? Of course there is. The fact is that no one can prove it. -
Who would spend that kind of money on a laptop. That's just irresponsible. hehe. Still playing the waiting game. If anyone's curious I ordered mine on 1/14 from Malibal and haven't received an email or anything about shipments so it looks like it might be a while longer.
-
-
Haha, htwingnut was the main reason I even looked at sager. I still remember the post recommending the 8130. HT, my sager owes its ownership to you
-
-
In my opinion the killer is a decent card, but not comarable to the 6300. I'd say its more of a 6230 without the bluetooth. Companies can make marketing numbers that make it sound better than it really is. If you really want something comparable wait till Q2 for the 1103 with one with three antennas.
-
looks like the 6300 uses 3 antena vs the 1102 using 2.. might get better range off the 6300. in another thread, someone was mentioning about bigfoot kinda fudging the numbers to make it seem like a better card. idk. if your interested in getting the bigfoot, id say wait for the 1103 card due out Q2'11
-
I know the bigfoot desktop NIC is actually pretty good. There's too many variables with wireless to have it help much. I don't care how fast it can process the packets, you also need a fast router, and if your wireless signal isn't too strong, you can't prevent packets from being lost.
-
"sigh"...i wish xoticpc just stayed with offering only one NIC card brand
it would make my life a little easier! lol -
Hello all,
If anyone who alredy owns one could clear up another thing i would be very grateful...
I know that everyone has been saying and its clear to see that the laptop has a brushed aluminium finishing, but what i was wondering is if the underside, the bottom of the laptop is all made out of metal, or if it is or has plastic... i would like to know for cooling concerns because i need to take into account if my budget has to include a laptop cooler or not.
The other thing is if someone can give a detailed description of how sturdy, or hopefuly not, flimsy, the screen supports are and how does the screen hold up... i ask this because the screen support of the xps m1530 is really sturdy and i would obviously care for a laptop screen not being overly flimsy all the time.
Thank you all again and cheers! -
From reading on the forum, all of the current owners have said that a laptop cooler is not needed because most of the Sager laptops run very cool. It is a lot of reading but nearly every question that could be asked has been asked in this thread alone. It is worth it to read every page.
-
Yeah.. Or you could check out the review that htwingnut did on his 8170. Answers a lot of questions on the very first page
-
I am so excited to get this laptop in my hands! I am definitely going to do lots of YT videos of me playing games on it (just got Crysis Maximum Edition in the mail today). I might even do a review of it, we'll see.
-
I made a post about this, probably a few pages back. But i recommend not going with killer. I had too many headaches with it when they first came out with that nic. They lie a lot. They delete a lot of stuff they don't want shown. Kind of a shady of company. You should just stick with whats proven to be reliable and good. In all reality you may gain a few FPS, but will you really notice? I highly doubt it.
-
I recieved an email from xoticpc saying mine was in phase 2. So whatever that means. Because i had upgraded my screen to the 90% gamut, so it will take an additional week for me, but the lady i spoke with told me my card wouldn't be charged until the laptop was ready to go and they also charged my card already. So, i really don't know.

One thing comes to mind when reading the BigFoot Killer WiFi card specifications and it's low-latency for gaming. If it's so awesome, what kind of WiFi access point was used ? Was it a top of the class Cisco Aironet access point ?
What kind of encryption and authentication is used when getting those really low latencies ?
I like this descriptive footnote for the Killer Wireless-N 1103 (with 3 MIMO stream) press release at Bigfoot Networks Killer? Wireless-N Adaptors Deliver Breakthrough Wi-Fi® Performance for Notebooks

My order # is 29598, I bet it is April before I get mine
-
No it would be 1 N router. Depending on the router you get, there may only be 1 or two antennas. Each antenna is capable of doing 150Mbps each. So if you have 3 atennas. This is because they use slightly different frequency. I think you can only achieve those speeds or get closer to those speeds if you use the 5Ghz frequency as well. Although 5GHz freq is shorter range, unless you boost that signal by using more power.

I have a D-Link; DIR-825 Dual N Router. Which card would be best for me to use? The Intel Advanced-N 6230 or the Intel Ultimate-N 6300?
Thanks -
Hopefully Xotic PC gets my check tomorrow and i can start waiting for the check to clear, then i'm gonna speed it up by sending them the image of the cleared check from my bank account (they said this can be done). So i'm hoping i can get my pc shipped out in 2 weeks ~crosses fingers~

Ummm, silly question. I was really hoping to use this with my recording gear, and my interface is Firewire and not USB. I've just noticed that the P151HM I was planning to buy does not have Firewire, nor does it have an expresscard slot or any other means that I can see to add Firewire.
Does that mean I'm out of luck? Or would be be possible to use USB3 in some way, shape or form to add a Firewire 800 port? My eSATA storage is accounted for, but that may end up being a moot point if I have no way to connect the interface. -
There's lots of USB to firewire adapters out there. Most of them I've seen are USB 2.0 but I'm sure there's gotta be some 3.0 versions out or coming out soon. I do think it is kind of a bum deal not to have an expresscard slot though. that opens up all sorts of expansion possibilities for people.
-
If you have a few minutes, could you dig one of those those up? All I'm able to find are cables where people apparently have no idea what USB B looks like and are just calling them firewire.
