Ok. Select "fullscreen" or "1920x1080" from "standard sizes"?

Full screen and set the res to 1920 by 1080, enable extreme burning mode and post fx and enable 32xaa.

I just did that and temps (no max fans) steadied at 82C, lol. Running in a window at less than native res the temps go up to 90-92C. That was without PostFx. Running with PostFx on top of that right now. What about "displacement mapping"? Just would like to have same configuration. Thanks.

Adding PostFx, running 90C peak auto fans, 84C peak max fans. I guess that's reasonable.

Yep postfx adds alot more stress. Basically you have it exactly as I have it now. Auto fans sucks lol. And also I don't have displacement mapping enabled.

Just ran Prime95 again, and for Large FFT's seems to give highest temps and high 60's with max fans, small fft's mid 60's. So that's reasonable too.

good point.. i probably wont be getting mine until april at this point anyways. (that's TWO months from now :( how depressing. school will almost be done by then..) so i'm think of just ordering it with the 485 to get my spot in line.. then having them switch to the 6970 when it comes out, and get some $$ back.. i'd rather pay more upfront and get a refund then have to shell out more in a month lol

Lol at first when I found out about the issue I contemplated whether I return it now or later. Man am I glad I decided to do it later. This thing is a BEAST of a laptop! (huge jump in terms of laptops for me as I am coming from an m11x). Have a killer desktop though but I think I am going to be spending more time on this :p

Thats what I did, well I ordered before knowing that 6970 would likely come out before SB fiasco, but I have a standing note on my order that I will get that instead of the 485 if it comes out. They said they'd give me back the retail difference between cards not counting any discounts applied so far.

off topic, but i was comparing the stats of the 485m and the 6970m on the Techarp charts prived way earlier in this thread (at least i believe it was this one) and it has the following:

    485m
-core speed: 575mhz 1150 mhz shaders
    -texel fill rate: 36,800 MT/s
    6970m
    -core speed: 680mhz
    -texel fill rate: 32,640 MT/s

can someone explain why the core speed on the nvidia has something about shaders? and what's the texel fill rate? according to the charts, the 6970 beats the 485 in everything except the texel fill rate..

Just finished a full charge, using it normally from now until the battery runs now. Its weird that windows doesn't give a time estimate on the battery but I will do my best to give you an accurate answer.

Download BatteryBar. Great little free app and is pretty accurate after some time calibrating, usually enough discharge equal to a full discharge.

So do I have to fully charge it up again and discharge for it to calibrate properly? Or what?

No. It takes a little bit to learn so you will have to discharge a bit. It will be calibarated best with a full discharge, but a couple half-discharges will suffice.

Well there ya have it, around 3:05 minutes of battery life with what I consider to be normal usage. IE Browsing, some heavy downloading (downloading a crapload of patches for SC2), youtube'ing, chatting on steam, and just messing around. Absolutely no gaming, brightness was set to minimum (but damn still very birght).

This is the same information that Sager released last week. Once Clevo gets the new chipsets they will go through thorough testing that will probably take about two weeks, and if it passes their testing they will begin to bring in limited quantities (as many as they can get, but still limited numbers) and Sager is hopeful to begin shipping the finished product again around mid-March for the NP81x0 series and end of March/Early April for the NP51x0 series.

Great news guys, if you look a few pages back youll notice I posted some temps. Well guess what I just got in the mail today? A coolermaster Sf19 notebook cooler. And god does it do its job well. So far I have only tested out furmark but basically before my gpu gets up to 85c, now it steadies out at 73c! Haven't tested the cpu yet.

Edit: So apparently it makes a huge difference on LOAD temps. On idle temps the gpu went down from 39-40 to 36c and the cores went from mid 40's to 50 down to high 30's low 40's on all cores.

Also some more information on the cooler. It can become a USB hub with 4 USB 3.0 slots, its very big, bigger than the laptop which is why I wanted it so I can properly position the laptop on the fans exactly and not have any part of the laptop outside the cooler. It has some LED lights that changes colors, 2 turbine fans that are speed adjustable, and that about it. Oh it obviously runs on electricity, no USB power.

Good to hear. My current machine ran at 75 degrees Celsius idle and about 93 max (GPU) with a cheap Antec cooler. Using the Zalman ZM-NC1000, I now idle around 55 and reach a max of about 85.

I honestly have no clue as I am not familiar with coolers, I went on a whim and decided to get the cooler master because of the 4 USB 3.0 ports and the high rpm fans. What I can tell you is you won't find something as good as electrical powered coolers that runs on USB thats for sure.

A little update, ran prime 95, and with both the cooler and the laptops fans on high (you thought fn+1 on its own caused it to sound like a hairdryer, well I got a jet engine now XD) all cores averaged out at 59-61 c.

I been thinking of switch to the 8150 for the 485m but I want a matte screen too and only have 2grand to spend :( such dilemmas.

In all honesty, the default screen is pretty good, glossy but you can barley see your reflection with the proper brightness. Also if it was me and I had to choose between a 485 and a matte screen, dude it would be the 485 hands down its a beast of a card!

Man! I thought it took Christmas a long time to get here as a kid! Now I'm waiting on March! :p

While I'm here. All these programs that are used for the benchmarking, are they all in one place? I'll probably wanna try some of this, though I've never done it before.

Yes their all in one place, its called the internet :p jk jk. Your going to have to download them from different sites.

The main gamin benchmark would be 3dMark vantage or 3dMark 11 if you have a Dx11 gpu.

The other programs we use such as furmark and prime95 are for stressing and not benchmarking, so we see how hot the components get under the maximum possible load you can put on them.
