I believe the "better cooling" point had been recanted some time ago, as no one found credible evidence to support it.

The main differences between 8130 vs 8150

    - PSU as mentioned by many
    - plastic vs rubberized finish
    - matte vs glossy stock screen

I think one of the more intangible reasons for the price difference is the ability to upgrade the 8150 to higher end GPUs in the future. That is not to say it is not the case for the 8130, since it can very possibly take future GPUs that can be powered by its PSU.

Exactly. The GPU upgrade options on this laptop aren't that limited as some people make it out to seem. The 460m is a pretty power sucker in its own right. I'm 100% positive that more cards will be released that will be better than the 460m with the same, or less, power requirements. Whether or not they will be in MXM format is another story though.

I do wish there was a way to get the rubberized finish on the 8130 as a lower cost option without having to go all the way to the 8150 as I prefer the matte screen and the smaller power brick of the 8130. I have an 8130 on order, I'm just hoping the plastic shell doesn't look or feel cheap.

Congrats! Welcome to the "waiting anxiously" club.

Same here. Based on the video reviews it doesn't seem to have that cheap plasticy look of a lower end laptop. What I'm actually more concerned about is that it will look and feel exactly like the plastic Dell Latitude D830 that I use for work everyday.

Would be nice to not be reminded of work when using my personal laptop.

    Hi Gerald

I've already received my Sager NP8130 (I live in Singapore) and my view of the plastic shell is that it's okay. It doesn't have the cheap feel to it and the overall texture and looks of the laptop brings to mind 'rugged and functional'.

However, I must warn you that the entire laptop surface (except the screen and bottom) is coated with the same plastic including the keys, mousepad and buttons.

    Like my Sager a lot!

It's cooling ability is awesome; HW Monitor from CPUZ shows the CPU and GPU not even exceeding 60 degrees celsius with an average of 40-50 degrees celsius. These temperatures even in the tropical weather of Singapore!

    24-48 hours until it's in my hands. Can't wait ... :p

I actually thought about it so much that last night I had a dream that Sager delayed my order lol...thank god it was only a dream.

It's basically out of stock everywhere. The Intel chipset recall (and waiting for Clevo/Sager to get the updated motherboards) has set everybody back. However, all of them are working hard to get all orders fulfilled. It just takes some time.

There are quite a few places to order from: XoticPC, Malibal, Mythlogic, Powernotebook, LPC-digital, etc. The resellers/builders/reps user names are gray here on the forums.

    I got mine from GenTechPC.

I'd rate them as 10/10. All my e-mail inquiries were answered in just under a few hours. The man puts customers before sleep :p

It's also noteworthy to mention that they're stationed near Sager HQ, so Sager doesn't have to ship it to a reseller in another state, which increases delays in orders.

The sager resellers do not touch the laptop at all (unless there is some custom things like paint jobs going on). All sager laptops ship from the factory in CA.

Yes most NEW orders of the NP8130, NP8150 or NP8170 are listed as Late March or very early April at this time... :)

Oh? I was told that their driver had to pick up mine from Sager.

Perhaps they want to put the accessory I got into the same box/packaging so I get everything at once.

Nonetheless, I'm psyched! The reviews on the matte display got me real excited since it's being given high praise everywhere over the glossy display.

    @babyhemi:
Nice to see that Sager is finally almost caught up with the orders :D

I expect much more sales on Sagers end because the G53SW's price is almost 1500$! Asus needs to rethink pricing because Sager will steal all of their business (although I LOVE the design of it). With Sager, you're basically getting the same package for almost 300$ less + matte display.

The factory ships these in the order of placed orders. First come first serve. If you would want your machine by the first part of April it would be good to put an order in now. :)

You can place an order now with the resellers, it would just take a little longer than usual to get your order into production.

As others have said it is best to get your order in ASAP, most sellers will not charge your card until it is ready for shipment. So you are out nothing to get into the queue. :D

The resellers do accept PayPal and will give you a discount if you pay with a PayPal eCheck.

eCheck is not the easiest thing to figure out because PayPal doesn't make it available if you have a credit card on your account. JP at Xotic walked me through the process of enabling eCheck so I could get the discount.

Does anyone know if the 8150/8130 will drive more than 1 external monitor (since it has HDMI and DVI outs) with different displays? If so, would that mean you have 3 displays? Or how does all that work?

I know it can drive the internal display and 1 external. I'm wondering if it can drive 2 externals though (so I can dual monitor and have the laptop closed while working at home).

I know there are USB->DVI adapters but wondering if they are needed since there are 2 nice outs on this lappy.

You can either have the internal display with one external display or two external displays with hdmi / dvi and no internal display. So, two total displays.

    Same thing happens with me.

UPS, on many occasions, has sent my package to Ontario, California (CA) instead of Ontario, Canada (which also has "CA" on the package).

I'd say 1 in 4 of my packages has this delay because the drivers can't read properly.

The postal code should be a dead giveaway (since it's letters and numbers ...not just numbers like a zip code) that the package is intended for Canada and not California.

Got an email this morning from PayPal saying my eCheck has cleared. Hope that means I'll be in phase 2 today.

EDIT: Just got an email from Xotic that my order has moved to Phase 2!

Glad I can stop mashing "send/receive" every 5 seconds!!
