And for some reason Shogun2 will not recognize my Nvidia GT 555m 2gb GPU but instead the inferior Integrated Intel HD graphics is detected. I have tried going into the Nvidia Control panel to correct this but still the problem persists. This laptop is a mid range gaming laptop and it really sucks that it is not being used to its full potential. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The pic below show some of what I mean. The dxdiag pic shows that the display tab does not have the Nvidia GPU as the primary display gpu. The smaller picture I used the snipping tool on to show that in the bottom of the Graphics menu in Options for Shogun 2 Total War, only the weaker Integrated Intel card is detected.

Which Nvidia drivers are you running? Try grabbing the newest Beta ones off of the Nvidia site if you're running the newest WHQL or older. The problem with Optimus is that game support is nearly entirely dependent on the drivers you're using. If that doesn't help, have you tried setting a custom profile in the Nvidia control panel?

Hey Malibal #2. Thanks for the reply. On the recommendation of someone from the Total War forums I went from the driver the laptop shipped with (I forgot what it was) to the 290.53beta. Still the problem persisted. How do I set up a custom profile in the Nvidia Control Panel? Thanks for any help. Also I want to make sure that this problem does not continue with other games.

Here's a video showing the steps in the control panel to do it:

Also, here's how to do it if you don't want the video ;)

I did all of that and still the damn game won't detect the superior Nvidia GPU. The attached pic shows me selecting the correct .exe file. I have no idea what to do  If you have anymore suggestions (ANYTHING) I am of course open to them. I am worried that this issue is happening with my other games as well. Thank you very much for and assistance. :)

Which application are you selecting there? I'm just going to assume that you should be choosing shogun2.exe in that folder. Go to steam, create a shortcut to the game on the desktop, then right click that shortcut > properties. It should list exactly which executable you need to be adding to the Nvidia profiles.

Thanks for the response Malibal#2. I created the shortcut and I added the shortcut to the Nvidia Profiles but still the same problem. Also I even added Steam to the Nvidia Profile list as well and right click on it and select run on High Performance Nvidia Processor. Also when you look at the last image I posted, the Shogun2 image is listed as and exe. Nothing seems to work.

What should I do when I get to Properties after right clicking the Shogun2 shortcut? Would reinstalling the game do the trick? Once again thank you very much for your assistance and patience.

At this point, I'm just guessing, but based on some googling you may want to find out if older drivers or some script edits work with it. Here are some of the links I pulled up:

Hey I havn't seen much action on this thread in awhile. Been keeping my eye on this laptop for some time now. I would like some feed back on how durable you think this baby is? I bought a Sager 8880 back in 2002. It just died last year. Im a mechanic & it sat on my tool box running, all day every day. I run scan tool software, internet, music ripping, occasional video editing & photo shopping & occasional gaming. Of course it was'nt much good for gaming the last couple of years. I went through 3 cd drives & two batteries. I never had a major crash in all that time, infact I never even wiped the hard drive once! So I was very impressed with Clevo. I'm currently rocking my old lady's hand me down HP pavillion with a 2.4 P4, its the same generation as my old 8800 and it never was near as stable.
I'm thinking the i7-2670QM, with 8Gbytes 1600mhzs & the 750 hybrid drive. Anyway What do you guys think, Will it last like my old 8800 did? Probably will, buy from Xotic. What do you think?

After much hemming & hawwing I finally took the plunge & ordered the Sager NP5175 from Xoticpc Sunday night. Just got e-mail that its in the pending credit card verifation status. I'm excited. Debated back and fort about the 8170, but decided I wanted the extra battery life & portability. I'll keep you posted.

Whats it going to be replace with? The W270HSQ? I see its available in Japan & Europe. It appears to be the same as the 5175 except it has a fingerprint reader & the new nVIDIA GT630. Will the GT630 be better for gaming & run cooler? If so then I'm already having Buyers remorse and I hav'nt even got mine yet? Its in stage 2 at Xotic. I called a couple days ago when I realized it was discontinued to see if there would be a problem, they did'nt think so. Any of you resellers know? Or maybe you can't say. This thread is dead I guese. :confused2:

There are thousands of Sager NP5175 owners...I wouldn't say this thread is dead. This thread is for 'owners', not so much for prospective buyers.

Let's wait to see what comes next...but I would expect it to be more like the GT650.

Notified by Exotic today. My 5175 has shipped. UPS tracking says it willbe here in Michigan next tuesday the 6th. Yay ! , I'm excited. Ordered -2670, 750 hybrid drive, 8 gig 1600, bluray read, intel 6230 & win 7 pro. I'll figure out how to put that in my signature some day. I plan on making a user review video, just because theres very few videos of this machine on youtube. Just a few ads, and one shakey walkaround with poor lighting.

The Sager NP5175 & 5165 are back for sale on Sager's sight I see. Got my 5175 a week and a half ago. Couldn't be happier so far. Made an unboxing video, just for fun. I'll upload it to Youtube this weekend sometime. Thanks Xotic.

Nope there gone again. Maybe I was seing things, but last weekend the np5175 & the np5165 were on Sager's product page. Anyway there not now.

Have you extracted the files from the .zip folder? You will need to extract the files from the .zip folder before you can install them. :)

    I'm thinking about buying a Clevo W170HR 17 inch

Anyone can tell me about the noise? Is it quiet ? total silence ?

I can't stand noise and it's my primary criteria when i chose a laptop
