I am having issues getting my webcam working and was wondering if anyone can help.

I ran Setup.exe in root of 01_Camera on the WIN7 drivers disk and rebooted and I don't see a device under Sound, Video and Game Controllers or under USB Serial Bus Adapters . I then ran setup.exe in the \Bison and \Chicony directories to no avail.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

    Thanks in advance!

Use hotkey and make sure it is turned on, then check under imaging devices in the device manager.

Hi i just bought a Clevo w350. Have had it a couple of days now, yesterday i was gonna watch a movie and my S/PDIF sound didnt work. Usually when i connect the cable there is a red light from the Thoslink end which i plug into my receiver.

First i thought it was the cable, but tried the cable with my old laptop and i instantly got a red light when i connected it and sound worked perfectly.

Im trying to look on the web to see if there is something i can do, but i am afraid i have received a faulty laptop and i have to request repair/relacement.

Have anyone else experienced problems with the S/PDIF connection on this laptop?

No, you likely don't need a repair/replacement. It likely has to do with enabling the proper output in the sound device settings, or it's possibly HDMI related. Right click on the volume control and click on playback devices. Try enabling the Realtek Digital output instead of the speakers and see if this works.

Does the audio jack not work when you have an HDMI cable connected? Do you connect your laptop to a monitor or TV frequently? From the factory the HDMI port is set to be your main audio out (at least when it's connected). I had the same problem trying to connect my 2.1 channel sound system and solved it by disabling the audio out in the HDMI settings. The HDMI audio settings will also be visible in the volume control/playback devices list (but only while it is connected. Here you can enable or disable the HDMI sound output if necessary. Give these settings a look before considering it a hardware malfunction.

I have a problem, My CPU is always under clocked and will at max use 50% of its full capacity. I have tried changing all power management settings, and of course stress test it with different stress test program. It never goes above 50% of its full capacity.

From what i can tell the proper output is enabled in myh sound settings. I have tried both with hdmi connected and with hdmi not connected.

This is a screenshot of my sound settings. the digital output is clearly activated and working, but no sound is emitting from it.

this is also what i do with my old computer, works perfect. on this computer i get no sound at all, and there is no red light emitting from the end of the cable, which it usually does when i have toslink /Spdif connected with my old laptop or with my old playstation.

i really dont know what to do here, feels like i have tried everything, im totally lost.

Update: when i plug in the optical cable in my old pc it pops up a message from windows in the down right corner with the sound icon. It says "en informasjon har blitt koblet til" (norwegian), think it means something like "an information has been connected" in english.

When i plug the cable into my new computer i do not get this message. Windows can't detect that anything is plugged in. If i plug in headphones through the headphones jack the message pops up and sound comes out from headphones, same thing happens with microphone jack plug. Its just the S/PDIF plug that wont detect anything

The CPU pretty much takes care of itself and will work at the full capacity of its specs when it needs to but if it's not needed will clock itself down to save power. What tests are you running? I'ts possible that they're not CPU intensive.

If u want to unpark all of the cores you need to use aftermarket software. I forget which one I use. I'll check when I get home. It enables an option in the power settings and allows for different settings for "plugged in" and on "battery".

Honestly your comp will unpark the cores when it needs to. It's really just a power saving feature.

i figured out what i did wrong. I have used a optical S/PDIF cable which is what my old computer used. This one has a coaxial S/PDIF output. my sorround system only have Optical/toslink input. is it possible to replace the coaxial output with an optical one on my laptop or will i be better off with bying an adapter like this one: GefenTV GTV-DIGAUDT-141 Coax to Toslink Digital Audio Translator

I was doing very CPU-intensive tasks but the CPU would not go above 1 GHz. I solved the problem by unplugging and re-plugging the AC-adapter after I changed the Power Profile.

However, getting a faster CPU means that the Fan is now louder and user more frequently, and I must say my fan is quite irritating.

Instead of a constant spinning it spins up and goes at full speed for 10 sec, then stops before running at full speed again for another 10 sec. Anyone else experiencing this? Could this be fixed by the custom BIOS in this thread? Or maybe just a program like speedfan?

That's due to the thermal thresholds on the hardware that kicks in the fans when it reaches certain temps and then back down when they drop below a point. You're just hovering right there. You could use a fan control program to keep them at a constant rate if that's the part you find annoying. I believe Afterburner allows this, last I heard speedfan doesn't work on laptops but I could be mistaken.

I believe I have an issue with RAM (2 x 8GB) with my NP6350. I had a bunch of apps crash randomly this morning and upon two or three reboots, more crashes and then three BSOD's - each different. One was a BAD_HEADER_POOL, another MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.

I am in the process of running MemTest86+ v.4.20 and it is a sea of red with respect to errors. I had to leave for work and left it running (via USB boot stick).

I contacted my reseller and they said they could arrange a drop ship (CC backed on my end) to replace the faulty stick. I have always heard that the sticks are somehow mated and should both be swapped out. Is that true? Is the issue most likely RAM or could it be MOBO related?

Also, are there any issues if I take this opportunity to bump up to 24GB - will I still run in dual-channel mode or would I drop to single channel?

    Thanks in advance!

I am trying to isolate the issue I am having with the RAM in my NP6350. I removed the stick of RAM that is accessible from the underside of the unit but cannot for the life of me figure out to remove the keyboard to get at the RAM in DIMM1 (Channel-A). Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

    Many thanks!

Even if the temps are OK can you provide us the idle and under load temps for a point of reference.

Those temps do look ok. It looks like you're missing the GPU temps, probably have to scroll down or make the box bigger.

Thanks for that. Neither temps are high, they actually look much lower then they should be while under load at 63C. Did you recently run any stress test programs like Furmark. If not then do so and monitor those temps, you should be in the mid-high 90's for stress testing.

    Hello,
Is there a BIOS update for this laptop yet? I've searched everywhere, including the Clevo site but I have found nothing...
    The BIOS version is:
    American Megatrends Inc. 4.6.5, 14/12/2012

BIOS updates are typically not made available as you can brick your computer if done incorrectly. If you're comfortable updating your BIOS you can usually email your reseller with a request for the latest BIOS and they can email it to you.

    Hi Hutsady@XoticPC!

Just done a Burn-in benchmark 1920*1080 15min on furmark, max GPU temp 70º.

The laptop keeps randomly shutting down! Never on Load, for example today he shut down when i got to windows the first time i power on.

I tested the ram, no issues! No blue screens, Its working fresh, no hot issues, probably some probleam with motherboard maybe?!

Could be the motherboard, we cant know that for sure without getting it send in a checked out. Maybe do a new fresh install of Windows. If its not the GPU, CPU, RAM, or hard drive that really leaves those two as the main culprit.

Yes easily. RAID is supported and even a third HDD/SSD can be installed if the ODD is changed into a HDD Caddy.

Heya guys :) I've had this computer for around half a year now, very pleased with it. Can't say that I've used it much as a laptop though, I found it powerful enough to replace my desktop computer since all component except the GPU was actually better. The GPU is enough to play the kind of games I play anyway so. I usually just have it "docked" and use an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Upgrades I've done are to install an Samsung 840 Evo 250 GB as maindisk and an Samsung 830 128 GB as extra storage. I've also installed an Intel 6235 network/BT-card. I have also flashed the BIOS with Prema Mod 3.0, not the OV edition but I'm planning to do that. I've already overclocked it to 200 Mhz extra (+100 MHz more with Turbo boost). Planning to try to get it closer to 300 MHz, the cooling can handle it without problem and my 660M is really cool all the time. Since Prema 3.0 enables turbo boost on the CPU while using the dGPU (disabled as standard by Clevo) the CPU gets a little hotter than stock though during gaming, but still stable 74C. Ivy bridge throttles at 90C if I remember right. I'm also using a laptop cooler to put it a bit above ground for better ventilation.

Some people has wondered about the temps of HDD's in the second bay, and this is because it's resting just above the PCH-diode which is passivly cooled (or rather, not cooled at all) and because of this is around 80-90C. It shouldn't really be a problem though, but it does help if you have a fan in your laptop cooler and put it right under the ventilation hole for the second HDD bay. I also recommend having your screen up on the laptop even though using an external monitor, because a little air is actually vented through the keyboard. This keeps my laptop from using the higher fan speeds anyway. It also cools your second HDD/SSD.

There was one time when I had a HDD and not an SSD in the second bay and transfered alot of files to an external drive through USB 3.0 and the internal drive heated up pretty bad to 65-70C degrees, most likely a combination of the HDD working and the USB 3.0 transfer heating up components on the mobo. I started the fans on my laptop cooler though (it has two that can be positioned, and are positioned at the two vents) and it helped alot.

If we are talking about ssd I have to complain about my latest SSD issues. I bought my clevo W350ETQ 8-9 months ago with plans to put SSD in it. Yesterday I put the drive inside (into 2nd bay -of course if 1st bay is under touchpad) and installed windows7 fresh. There is something terrible going on, because after installing all drivers SSD is 63-70 degrees C. In fact all temperatures seem higher than before. I know that 2nd bay is worse becuase of the chip not beeing cooled, but my samsung 840 evo doesn't fit into the first bay (there is some looseness).
Is there any obvious thing I didn't do or I have to say "bye bye" my SSD?

Sorry for my English, I hope you understand what my problem is.

Generally SSD's should run cooler so it's strange. Maybe the aluminium-case of the SSD absorbs the heat more than a HDD? I'm not sure what acceptable running temperature is for an SSD though, you should look into that.

You can however without problem put an 840 Evo in the bay under the touchpad, but since the 840 is 7mm you need a 2mm spacer to get it to normal size. I got one with mine since I bought the "laptop kit", either you can buy one separately or you can create your own. It's just some plastic in the same size of the SSD.

thank you for your fast reply. I put ssd under touchpad and pulled out the hdd (i checked it and whole system is doing just fine in that configuration). But I will eventually have to put my HDD near the chipset and this way Hdd will be extremely hot. I dont want to pull dvd-rom to create third bay though :(

PS. (Both HDD and SSD should not be hotter that 60 degrees C)

I've had a high-performance HDD in the second bay for a long time, it should be no problem. Temperature will probably be around 55C though but it doesn't matter. Also I don't think SSD's have the same acceptable temperature limits as an HDD. In fact I know many SSD's can't measure temperature at all simply because it doesn't matter too much. Heat is never good for anything in the extended run of course, but one shouldn't need to worry too much either.

I checked this configuration. In fact I checked all combination of putting hdd and ssd in all bays and temperatures were teribly high. Max temps were 72 degrees C. It is way to much.

Has anyone added a 3rd drive to the W350ETQ optical drive bay using a caddy/sled yet?

Could anyone recommend a reliable vendor or link that sells the caddy that doesn't stick and still sits flush on the laptop body?

Hi, I've just read a review of the W350STQ and Clevo seems to have removed the CPU turbo lock, if nvidia GPU is enabled. But I can't believe that nearly the same case with a stronger GTX765M GPU does not overheat, while the W350ETQ does with a GTX660M. Is that just a software feature or have they made any hardware improvements, like a better cooling system? Maybe this improvement could also be made for the W350ETQ. Does anybody know if it is already implemented in the current BIOS version or planned for a future BIOS Version (if there will be another one)?

I just found this website: http://biosmods.wordpress.com/w350et/
It's a bios mod. has anyone already tried it?

    Looks great,
do I have to apply the official BIOS Update first?
    warranty will expire, right?
Do i have the possibility to undo the mod?
