    **Official Clevo W350ETQ / Sager NP6350 Owner's Lounge**

A big thank you to MySN for providing me information.

// I am not sure whether the Sager is going to be called NP63 50 or not, but if I am not all wrong, their name system should make logical sense and it should be correct. This machine isn't available in the US yet. Somewhat released in EU today.

    The specs are as following:

no worries i just notices cause i am eyeing up an order of the 15inch W350ETQ (XMG a522 on mysn) for September.
at 2.7kg its only a .1kg heaver then Clevo W150ERQ / Sager NP6165, which i think is great weight for the power.

Yes indeed, and 660M has great overclock potential as well as great potential to play with the vBIOS too ;)

And beyond all of that, if we are lucky- Prema's BIOS should work on these new W-series laptops! Crossing fingers

    - btw good luck with your purchase, do make sure to post a review

If google translated the review correctly, the germans discovered that W350ETQ sucks Big time... It's good but it has to many drawbacks.

Didn't have time to read it before.. just read it now though

Sounds sad... such a potential it had

    Poor sound
    CPU Throttling -again

Just the two worst things.. oh god

Come on guys, a little nuance here ?

Screen racks up 84%. Black value is 0.5cd/m² and contrast is 540:1, both are good values (just check other laptop reviews on NBC). Color space coverage is good too. The review makes it sound bad because it compares it to the W370ET screen which is exceptional.

Temps were measured with an ambient temperature of 28°C, which is around 6-8°C more than you would usually get. Keep in mind that the innards are exactly the same as in the 17incher (might be thicker tough), which gets relatively good temps with an ambient temp of 24°C. And the GPU stays at 76°C under Furmark, that's pretty good.

Throttling and Turbo issues are a consequence of Clevo's bios if I'm not mistaken, and can be addressed thanks to ThrottleStop.

I'm the devil's advocate here, but seriously, it's not all gloom and doom, pretty much the opposite.
Of course, sounds still sucks, and build quality seems a bit off (first units problem ?), but hey, 84% on NBC is quite the achievement.

The machine doesn't suck if you look at it overall.

But it's sad to see Clevo doesn't want to improve.. still the CPU throttling and poor sound. But sure the 660M has a great potential and power.

It's quite cool too, overall a better version than the W150ER without doubt. Although this machine could be better... but there's a chance.

    + ThrottleStop
    + Prema W-series BIOS
    + Heatsinks additions
    + 660M Clevo vBIOS

And I would imagine one is good to go ;)

yea are you guys out of you vulcan minds !. I read the review and and more the positive, i mean you have to
compare this to what its up against Lenovo IdeaPad Y580/Gigabyte P2542G and it got a higher score then both those.

Ah well, sound and laptops, that was never a love story, even if MSI and Asus are working on it. I'll keep using my headphones anyway, my Acer 4820 is also lacking in the domain.

I though about the heatsink modding, and while the GPU plate leaves little space for anything useful (and does not really need it), the CPU plate is ripe for some more copper. Look at it, it's like it's begging for more dissipators :p.

Also, screws tightening, foiling (Schenker seems to have picked up the trick though), and repasting.

Hmm yea never really did much upgrading on a laptop, and my desktop is water cooled so dont worry about it too much.

But yea adding a better heat sink could help a bit.

here is a quest do 35w processor make any difference ?(in heat)
you know like 3612QM ? (cause wont the gpu be the bottleneck in
a laptop like this anyway ?)

Never seen direct comparisons between the 3610 and 3612, but the 3612 runs 200MHz lower so yep, it should be better with it. It also costs 50€ more.
It should not make a big difference in games, except maybe for CPU intensive ones (BF3, Civ5, DayZ, etc...).

Another solution is to take a dualcore i5. They are rated 35W max, and run higher frequencies (2.9GHz-3.6GHz turbo). As for game perf vs # of cores, it depends on the game (BF3 likes quad cores I'm told).

One would be better off with a quad core since it's more future proof.

We've done a lot of 3612QM vs 3610QM comparisons on the W110ER thread.. and as far as I remember there weren't many in favor for the 3612QM for a number of reasons I cannot remember :(

Just not worth the extra price, and lower power and somewhat different temp.

yea read a bit more , seems the 3612 is just a cherry picked
3610, so wont be wasting the extra money on that.

hmm it has 3 ram slots thats weird, might email mysn
asking if the ram can be installed in the 3rd slot (the one
under the keyboard) to save me doing it.

Or else, if you haven't: then you can just write it under the commentary "Anmerkungen" ;)

Very very nice! Thank you mate, seems like it's a decent laptop overall hehe and that 660M is quite strong too... compared to the 650M, especially if you have OC in mind

It might be a bit premature to ask this since this model hasn't been released yet, but I'm curious about the quality of the screens. At work, my monitor resolution is 1440 x 900, and there's plenty of on-screen real estate for my needs. That's on a 23 inch monitor, too. However, is the W350 1600 x 900 monitor going to be of lower quality than the 1920 x 1080, or will it be equivalent quality with a lower resolution? With a mediocre (with respect to enthusiast grade) GPU, I lean toward the lower resolution for game performance, as well, but not if it means a poor quality screen.

It shouldn't. I am not sure though.

If I were you, I would contact the reseller you ought to buy from and ask them regarding the screen quality :)

Any update on this? Xotic says they'll have it when Sager has it. I think I'm going to call RJTech tomorrow as they probably source the barebones from somewhere else.

MySN hasn't even got them in stock yet. Waiting until they get internationally released or just hit or just hit some resellers; I'll announce it here :)

Ok, just contacted both Sager and RJTech. Sager pretty much gave me a non-answer of "check our websites for new announcements" and RJTech said somewhere around Sept. 10th (for the barebones model, I think). I think I'll be picking this notebook up... Seems pretty good from the Notebookcheck review, especially the cooling system.

It's supposed to be bloody brilliant! Especially with the new drivers from nVIDIA! THe 660M is a golden master of power:cash ratio

Also this machine looks beautiful to say the least... and has room for RAID 0 !

Its interesting to note according to the specs, the NP6165 is slightly heavier than this unit yet this one has a bigger battery pack. Head scratcher...

Noob question: Why this model doesn't have more GPU options?

I'd instantly jumped into this if it comes with AMD 7970M, assuming the "Independent GPU" button works like what I thought it should i.e. no Enduro

The button simply enabled or disables Optimus, when it is off it is IGP only, and when it is on it is auto switch between IGP and the dGPU.

    Ah... OK :)

So it's not like switching between IGP or dGPU like I understood...

Correct. No worries though, lots of people mis-understand that button.

I'm pretty sure it should. They are implemented in the newest Intel drivers.

You've got two HDD/SSD bays to have fun with. But don't take me for word, ask a resellers, although I'm pretty sure it should support it.
