Ha, I was wondering how those people get 5300+ or around that. That's impressive by itself, those are GTX 770M non OC scores. I wonder if it's stable in gaming and other benchmarks like Unigine Heaven.

Most of us compare with free version of 3dMark11 with Performance mode 1280x720. Your score seems to be from Full HD Extreme test, I just checked and your score is perfectly fine, same as everyone else should be getting.

Yeah I have the same question myself, how do you test stability on both GPU and CPU at the same time? With CPU it's easy. Prime95...

You could run Furmark at the same time as Prime95, that will really test your system stability. Be ready for some really high temps though ;)

Ahh.. of course.. and i guess you'd be looking at furmark for artifacting?

Yah artifacting or just the computer shutting down for thermal protection.

Avoid Furmark, it's made to generate the maximum heat that the card can produce and is in no way a real world scenario.
NVIDIA has implemented a vBIOS Furmark Throttle for that very reason (since gen4 cards).
There is a beta test version of Furmark that disables that limit and rest assured it will kill any Notebook GPU even at stock if you give it enough time. ;)

I just ran a small test to see what the Mod can do, but I am really not an overclocker or bencher...anyway here is what I have used in the past:

    - Prime95+ is always good for the CPU (RAM)
    - Memtest 86+ for RAM
    - Unigine Heaven to test the GPU/vRAM

Yes mine does with nVidiaInspector. I don't know why. After half hour of playing BF4, games crashes and reverts back to stock. I think there must be a glitch with nVidiaInspector, maybe. When running 3D Mark 11 everything seems to be fine. Strange. Have you tried MSI afterburner?

Earlier is this thread one owner said that they replaced their touchpad with a synaptics model they purchased off of Ebay. Has anyone else done this? I'm finding the touchpad to be extremely frustrating even after updating with drivers from synaptic's site. I have a 1 inch dead zone above the mouse buttons (and the buttons themselves are finicky at best).

Touchpads are usually pretty generic in the connector they use, however note they are often glued down.

    I need to re-instant Win8 but don't know how.

My 7330 came with Win8 pre-installed, in addition it came with the manufacturer recovery disk. As a result, I do not have the OS key. Microsoft is not able to look up my system's serial to provide me the key.

As a result, I am not able to download an OS copy from Microsoft's website.

I called Sager, they suggested that I copy and mount the recovery disk onto a USB drive. But now I'm thinking he may not have understood me. I have the OS currently installed in the HDD that came with the system. But I'd like to install it in the 2 mSATAs (in RAID) that I have coming in.

So does the recovery disk have an entire copy of the OS I can use to make a clean installation? If not, how can I make an image of the OS in my system?

Thanks, but no such luck. I called Microsoft yesterday and Sager, they confirmed that the key is associated with my system and "stored in the motherboard." Microsoft exact words. I'm guessing in the CMOS or BIOS?!

Anyway that's my dilemma and when I explained this to Microsoft their answer was to purchase another key, thanks Microsoft!

So Sager suggested I copy the recovery CD onto a USB drive but I'm not sure he understood what I'm trying to do, as I previously explained.

The key is stored in the BIOS for OEM systems such as Asus and MSI, I was under the impression that Sager still provided that key on the system chassis itself. I'd contact your reseller and ask for their assistance. Or perhaps calling Sager back up and/or emailing to see if you can explain what you're looking for to somebody different.

The recovery disk is just Windows 8. Follow any of the many steps online for saving the Win 8 CD to USB drive, and install that way. It will automatically find the key in your system and install.

Otherwise use this and see if Microsoft accepts this key for a Win 8 download: KeyFinder | Magical Jelly Bean

That software worked, thank you so much!!

Unfortunately Microsoft still won't allow me to download the OS, but I guess it's still good to have the key.
I've mounted the recovery disk on my USB drive and I'll give it a go tomorrow.

I was wondering if there is any manual or info on the web about functions inside Prema Bios, what they do and how to use them. I want to undervolt my cpu and overclock GPU from bios, how do I do that? HT maybe u could make a video about prema bios at some point in the future ? :D p.s I dunno why but my games seem to crash quite more after prema update :( I have latest nvidia drivers and O/C gpu using Nvidia inspector

How do you test your overclock? Keep in mind that just because it's stable in 3DMark11, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's stable for games. I'd recommend to at the very least also use Unigine Heaven to test stability and judge the difference in effectiveness. Also I found MSI Afterburner to be more consistent than Nvidia Inspector which likes to randomly reset.

Has anybody have this issue yet? Pics below. Basically the touchpad area has worn down to where it looks like a burn mark. The upside is that the area has not lost sensitivity or usefulness, just feels a little rough or not as smooth as the area with the silver coating. The downside is that I email Mythlogic for warranty support and attached pictures and the response was a simple "that's consider to be wear and tear and not cover under manufactures warranty, but feel free to ship it to us and we will change the top cover for $50"

What do you guys think? Shouldn't this be cover by warranty? How else am i supposed to use the laptop, always with an external mouse? Should that not be my choice without this happening to a 4 month old laptop? Has anybody had this happened to them before and if so what was the resolution?

    Thank you in advance.

Mythlogic needs to cover the repair. This happening to a 4 mth old laptop is NOT a wear and tear issue. It's a design issue...and that's not your fault.
Phone them back, talk to a manager and blow your lid. Disgusting customer service.

    P.S. get a USB mouse...especially for gaming

    Hi guys,

So I have finally my w230st i did ordered from xoticPC. It came with some screen issues and bad pixels so I have to send it on warranty for replacement. I just received it back few days ago and therefore i started testing. Few issues I have, after these days of testing:

    1. Driver issues with Nvidia.

Most games i run vsync on to eliminate tearing and it works quite well e.g Dota, Assasin Creed 3, Diablo With Vsync "on" on this game i have correctly getting caped 60fps with good performance and no fps going above 60fps.
However in some games I experience strange drop in performance when game reaches 60fps with enabled vsync e.g Call of Duty Ghosts, Sniper Elite v3. No matter if I enable it in Nividia Control Panel (with Tripple buffering) or in game the result is same. When I go outdoor and <60fps the game is smooth (no tearing due to vsync) but when i go indoor and game reaches 60fps the game becomes very choppy and it seems like 15fps to me (although fraps still show 60fps which is strange) I have also check the GPU usage and when it reaches this state the usage goes down to 50% instead of 100% when in open world with <60fps.
If I disable vsync for Ghost and Sniper Elite the game suffers from texture tearing, sometimes getting above 60fps in close enviroment but does not behave choppy in any way its smooth all the time.

I solved this issue by reverting back to: 327.23-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe

However I also recently purchased Battlefield 4, andit only work on most recent drivers. On 327.23-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe i have literaly 1-2 fps and whole stuff if just unplayable.
Do you have same issue ?
What is change between 327.23 (Sep 2013) and those 331.82 drivers from November onwards ?
I have stock BIOS so do maybe I need update there ?
I had the same issue with the w110er as I have noticed right now.

    2. Limit with GPU overlock with Afterburner 3.0
I can only overlock my GPU +135 and + 300 vRAM. Core has limit in the GUI so i cannot put more. As for vRam when I put more then 300 and restart the program I see it is beining set to +1000.. It does not look safe for me..

    3. High Temps reaching 100C on CPU and 70 on GPU
I have set -80 V on the Core because when I set higher I suffer from reset in game. However I still get high temps in game.
When I run Starcraft on Ultra for an hour I see in Throttlestep 2 cores reaching 100 C!!
Is it normal. Should I buy paste and repaste this ? I have ordered Noctua NT-H1.

I am afraid of running Prime at this point as I may break my laptop :(

Shall I update to Prema bios to get lower temps ?

Nvidia describes changes with updated drivers. I use 331.82 and get decent FPS in BF4. Don't really play other games you've listed so can't help there.
You can try Prema modded BIOS + EC, it gives more options and updated fan profiles from what I could tell.
Those temperatures are not normal. You should most definitely repaste and maybe look into notebook cooler if you game on a desk. If you need tips, I could link to pictures and videos by HTWingnut on repasting. I personally used IC Diamond and my temps rarely go above 80C in games. I doubt Prime will break your laptop, most likely it will throttle to prevent overheating.

I have recently retested my laptop with Prema. 50% brightness, 80% volume, backlit off, wifi on. Constant browsing and streaming NBA game. 5% battery left after 4 hours and 10 minutes. So maybe with lower brightness you can get 4.5 hours, since 50% is really bright. However I have my doubts about 5 hours.

Do i need to update anything I have right now or I can go directly and flash to Prema BIOS?
From what I can tell this Vsync happens on all games like FPS or TPS. It did happen to me on WR110er and now on W230ST.
I would be glad if anyone could test this as well.

Please link me the movie. I did not experience shutdown so far, but this 100C is pretty frightening.
The paste is already ordered from Amazon, so I will open it next week some day when it comes.

For BF4 just use latest nvidia drivers I.e. 331.82. Turn Vsync off and cap fps to 58 to minimize tearing. Game runs very smooth and very responsive if you follow these guidelines. Also do not overclock gpu. If you do BF4 crashes and nvidia inspector reverts back to stock clocks. I believe there is a glitch in nvidia inspector. Has anyone tried MSI afterburner? Maybe it is more stable. I don't know. I will give it a try I think.

I would update to 333.82 but then all other games suffer from issues I have described above.
Does anyone can replicate this ?

Maybe there is some new feature which is casuing this ?

    1) Guide to flashing Bios.

    2) Clevo W230ST / Sager NP7330 Inside the Laptop - YouTube

    3) Applying thermal paste. I used a thin line method. Take off the heatsinks. Use cotton swabs and pure alchohol to carefully remove the old paste from both the CPU and GPU as well as heatsinks. Apply new paste in a thin straight line across the die close to their entire length, but not completely reaching it. Put heatsink back on. All of the screws are numbered, I'd do it in order. Make sure that the heatsink is tight, don't wait too long, feel free to burn in the paste by running some programs.

I always run an overclocked GPU. First used Inspector, but like you said it seemed unstable unless I kept it open 100% of the time. MSI afterburner proved to be better I use Beta 17 with the classic view version and using Prema Bios. Overclock is 100% stable for me with +125/+560. These are my settings in some games. I generally like to set up games to play at 40fps in Full HD. Keep in mind that performance was achieved with an overclock.

Witcher 2: SSAO + MSAA on, Ultra Textures. Bloom + Blur + DOF(except cutscenes) disabled. Shadowed Lights Low, Shadow Quality medium.
Far Cry 3: HBAO + MSAA x2, Post FX High. Every setting on High except shadows on medium.
BF4: HBAO on. MSAA off. Every setting on High, Textures on Ultra.
Bioshock Infite: AA on, everything Ultra. 35-37 fps, completely smooth.

What tool/version you use for overlock ?
When I use AFTERBURNER sometimes when I overlock I get +12343435345 +123125436345 for no reason.
    I use Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 17

    Is this at 1080p?

Also how are you able to achieve 125/560 overkclocks on the GPU? Are you overvolting it?

I have Prema Bios and 331.82 Nvidia driver, maybe that's the difference. I'm not sure. I also had some weird issues on Afterburners basic skin and use legacy instead, don't think it makes a difference. Also use Beta 17.

Yes, 1080p. No overvolt on GPU. 135-140 Core is stable in 3DMark11, but crashes Unigine Heaven and some games, so I use 125.

    Hi guys,

Reporting back after 2 weeks of use. I'm loving this pocket rocket right now but there's 3 things that concern me.

    1) The 7260ac seems to be problematic, and it looks like a long standing driver issue (from the intel forums) and not a defective unit. Signal and speeds are good but link rates drop to 5-10mpbs randomly and for no reason, and stay there until i disable/enable the card from device manager. Using it for N speeds only right now, not AC (dir-655)

    2) The left side of the mousepad seems to be sticking. I use the Synaptics moodpad which indicates that sometimes when i'm touching the middle of the touchpad, the very left is being activated as well. This is very strange though, as a simple restart will fix it, with no physical contact.

    3) The laptop switched off twice while playing simcity on battery power. On both occurances, the battery was scorching hot, and also low on power (15-20%). Probably some sort of thermal protection kicked in, and it wasn't a CPU/GPU one. Should i be worried?

    cheers!

I use Intel XTU software to undervolt and change CPU modifiers. I run -80mV and set quadcore to run in x28 (2.8 Ghz). That's mostly done to achieve lower temperatures, I don't think it has a big effect on performance in my case.

Prema overvolts his GPU which allows him to get a really high core clock (+350MHz I think) and P5400+ on 3dMark11 (that's GTX 770M numbers). My setup without changing voltage regularly gets P4900 or so in comparison, highest score in the signature, that's with x34 CPU modifiers.

I can't tell you a scientific reason why too much paste is bad for temperatures. Hopefully some people more knowledgeable than me could get into that.

I used this method because a more experienced person, who worked on dozens of laptops suggested it; and it worked really well for me. Prior to that I was using a blob method. Therefore I'm satisfied with results and could suggest it to other people. Feel free to use whatever method you like as long as you get the outcome you want :)
