Just click my signature...but don't expect anything from the stock update...only the ME firmware was updated...well I would say downgraded as the ME firmware you can find on the blog is a later version... ;)

"Changelog" isn't a link on the BIOS page for this model on your site. What is actually different in your version VS. the stock BIOS?

Yeah, still have to do that...

Take about the entire W230ST changelog beginning from v1, then add the latest modules, microcodes, a few new BIOS switches, plus the unlocked 860M with removed voltage throttle and a few other things... 6K+ 3D11 are no problem with this baby. :D

But my Clevo W230SS came from Mythlogic, and I can not select "Processor Current Limit" in XTU!
    Any advise?

I like to keep the Mythlogic boot logo.

Would a Kensington 120W power adapter model 38004 be ok for the NP7338?
    Output 0-24 VDC / 0-6.5A, 120W max.

The supplied power adapter has output 19.5V, 6.15A, 120W

I wonder if I can find a BIOS mod for my new W355SS from Prostar. It is pretty much the same hardware spec as W230SS. I really like to see how this tiger behaves out of the cage!

I didn't realise MySN's XMG models shipped from Germany, the wait is killing me. If I realised it was coming from another country I would have paid more for faster postage!

My Schenker P304 is waiting for me at the post office and my mSATA SSD and other accessories are due tomorrow at my place of work.
Can't wait :) Will give you guys and update and hopefully some pics with the mPCIe 4G-module and tell you if (and how well) it worked when I have everything so stay tuned for tomorrow.

I ordered mine 24/4-14 and it arrived today 7/5-15 but on the MYSN website it still only says "In production" so there does not seem to be any step like "Shipped" etc. All in all around 2 weeks and here in Sweden at least we have had some holidays that might have slowed things down (unsure if that affects Germany as well since the computer AFAIK is built in Germany)

I got my W230SS yesterday, and I love it, the only weird thing that has been happening is that the wifi seems to randomly be slow or disconnect. Does anyone know how to fix this or at least find out what the problem is?

    Thank You!

What Wifi Card did you get? I have 7260AC and it works very slow with my router tplink wr1043nd. I have 32Mbit Connection however 7260ac barely reaches 16.I tried cheap 10$ usb wifi card and the speed is about 31Mbit in the same place...

I'm looking at picking up a W230SS or W350SS for gaming from my GF's house and at work, mainly for WoW and Diablo 3. I'm looking to run a SSD with the i7-4810.

I see a lot of bios talks, are there a lot of tweeks I need to make to this laptop?

I was tinkering with some of the network card drivers, I found out if you turn off "Wake on Magic Packet" and "Wake on Pattern Match" along with maxing out Roaming agressiveness it helps, at least its not dropping completely now.

Got my xmg p304 yesterday and haven't really had the time to put it to its paces just yet, but I will.

Question: Is there any way to edit the fan curve on this thing?
It's like there's three speeds: Barely on, 30% and 150%
I don't mind the fan when I'm gaming but when browsing etc the fan can ramp up in small bursts and its quite annoying.

Just got my XMG P304, I bought windows 8 separately so I don't have all the drivers, I'm specifically searching for the PCI Device driver. Also I didn't buy a WLAN card with it as I thought I could just take the WLAN card out of my old laptop and put it in this one, will it be compatible?

Where are people getting this laptop with an IPS panel? I spoke with xoticpc and they mentioned that it was a standard TN lcd panel... Where can I purchase the sager np7338/clevo w230ss with an IPS panel?

The 1080P one is IPS on a few sites I've checked. This is where I ordered mine from (note it specifically states Matte IPS) - XMG P304 13.3" Pro Gaming Notebook

Easy way to tell is get HWifno64 and see what it reports for the monitor model number. Simple google search will tell you exactly what display you have. According to tech specs from Sager it's a TN but they've been known to throw a few curveballs every once and a while.

for those who are canadian and bought sager/clevo from the states, how much duty do you get charged? i wanted to a buy a w230ss but eurocom only sells it with a useless 4k screen instead of 1080p and reflexnotebook is trash.

According to our customers there is no duty charge, just your local taxes and brokerage. If you have the option of UPS Express that brokerage fee is included in the shipping costs. With UPS ground or USPS it'll be due upon delivery alongside the taxes.

I am not affiliated with any resellers, just going off my own experiences.

Reflex notebook is a Canadian reseller, but yikes the mark-up (~15-20% on the pre-tax total). Brokerage varies by shipping company, sometimes you get hit sometimes you don't, it's usually between $30-80 CAD. Sometimes by choosing a higher level shipping (1-3 day) you can forego the brokerage charge. HST is charged on the goods, the price is converted to CAD on the spot market, and it's payable to the shipper (not to the reseller) upon receipt of the goods.

meh reflexnotebook mark ups are reasonable if you factor in fees and exchange rate (or so they say) but i dont like them because their service is sub par and caused me a lot of hassle last summer. What company takes 4 days to tell a customer that their payment is declined and VIA EMAIL. (i used the same credit card to buy from all over the world and not once was it declined)

This doesn't make sense... People are reporting that they have been receiving this notebook with an IPS display, even when purchasing from you guys. Are you saying that it's a complete crapshoot whether or not you get an IPS display or TN display?

That's not at all what I was saying. Sagers specs indicate that it ships with a standard panel, anything that's IPS is listed as such. That's what they've told us as well. You can pull up their specs yourself if you wanted to verify, it's listed as " 13.3" (16:9) Full HD (1920x1080) LED-Backlit Display with Wide Viewing Angle in Matte Finished Screen"

So that's what they're saying comes in it, it's entirely possible that the people reporting IPS haven't actually checked the model number of the display and verified it actually is IPS. IPS is a licensed term that you have to pay to use and a lot of manufacturers have instead just been reporting stuff as above where it says wide angle. I very much doubt that anybody has actually received a display that has the IPS nomenclature, just those people reporting it is IPS due to the fact it has the wide viewing angles.

That being said, specs are subject to change and so if somebody can verify that Sager is indeed shipping out IPS panels, I can try to get that reflected in the listings online as well. We haven't been notified of them doing that though and so it's doubtful that has changed.

I'm pretty sure Derek is saying that Sager might have given them incorrect information on their tech spec sheet. All of them with 1080p display should have the same panel, which should be IPS.

Ok, thanks very much for the clarification. "IPS-like" is all I really needed to know. As long as I am getting the same display as everyone else that is reporting that their panel is "IPS", then I'm happy.

Yeah their markup was between 15-20% after the exchange rate and before 13% hst. the total delta was about 400 CAD. That's not reasonable

yeah im glad reflexnotebook rejected my payment for whatever reason. saved 200bux on my w230st buying from eurocom since they offer 10% discount to just about everybody. and since im located in ottawa i got the laptop 4 days after ordering, did get lost trying to find the place though.

now just gotta decide if i want a w230ss or go back to desktops.

Mmm always a tough choice although if you have a halfway decent desktop a $200 video card can make a lot of difference. A radeon 7870 still has more grunt than any laptop video card. Get both ;)

I'm getting mine to replace an Asus that kills batteries dead.

I received the laptop today and I am extremely happy with the construction and overall quality. But there is one big problem. Every time I lift and tilt the damn thing, the fan starts to make a buzzer like sound. It is ridiculously audible and annoying as hell. Does anyone else have the problem?

Open the bottom cover and lift the fans aluminium cover slightly. It's probably touching the fan right now when angled.

if i was to get a desktop i would get a used amd 280x for 200. so many people bought those to mine with for some reason and realized mining is for people who dont pay for electricity. the price to build a decent desktop/laptop is about the same with the exception desktop being atleast 1.5x faster. guess im just going to build one and buy a cheaper laptop with a weaker gpu like 850m for my europe trip.

Yeah, it's a very small Philips groove. You'll probably want a precision screw driver or jewelry one.

Mine has arrived, I'm pleasantly surprised at the weight and the performance is amazing.
