Mythlogic: when you played that BF3, how warm was the keyboard, especially under left hand?

That are amazing temps for gpu considering it is connected to the same cooling with a 90c CPU. There is even some room to undervolt the gpu...which will ease the load on the PSU, too.
The CPU temps get me worried a bit though...90c while just gaming is too high IMHO. What if I put on some video encoding and max 4 cores 8 threads for 3-4 hours?
I guess for my stuff I'll have to go with a 3612QM... -
Also on the keyboard we didn't notice it getting any hotter than if you rested your hand on something for a long time, it was warm but not noticable or uncomfortable. -
Also, I'm eager to know how Skyrim works out! -
-
Can you even OC or undrevolt these chips anyhow? I don't think you can without BIOS support. I'd be more interested in undervolting.

It's vents as seen in the video would not be able to breathe. This is a mini gaming rig after all...

There's a gazillion photos of this mini beast in this thread and the Wxxx thread. I'll post later if I can find them.

I'm waiting on results of the 3610 vs 3720,since the 3612 is way more expensive.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2 -
Well, I think going with anything more than 3610 will be problematic from both power and heat standpoint. The 3610 is basically 3612 just slightly faster and likely slightly more power consumption. The 3720 will probably draw even more power and run hotter.

The Quadcores that the Chinese currently offer on this model are:

Intel Core i7 3610QM: http://www.notebookcheck.com/Intel-Core-i7-3610QM-Notebook-Prozessor.70753.0.html
Intel Core i7 2630QM: http://www.notebookcheck.com/Intel-Core-i7-2630QM-Notebook-Prozessor.41482.0.html -
damn if 3612qm is that expensive forget it....... +200$ to get it, cost lest to go from i5 2520m to i7 2630qm whats the deal?

just sold my m14x lol, u think any of the resellers are willing to custom mod the back plate, and drill holes in it so i can put in my nameplate from the m14x, lol farfetched idea but worth a shot

I just wanted to say that after installing the THX software that comes on the drivers and utilites CD...
Ones in the office were saying that this model has the best sound and loudest we have heard in a 10" or 11" machine!

glad to hear that I was wondering if I should buy speakers for it but now nvm
how about the battery? how long would it last with the 45W CPU? how much does the performance reduce when it on battery? -

3612QM looks really good but if it's going to cost a couple of hundred more than the 3610QM( which is what Myth said it will come with I think ) I'm sticking with that higher wattage and temps aside.
Any other reason to go with the 3612QM besides that?
If it can handle the 3610QM I'm starting to think that's the way to go if you want Quad IVB.
Thoughts? -
I can't imagine there to be much difference in 3610qm and 3612qm as far as thermals and power. It must be near borderline 35W TDP and binned the 3610QM in the 45W camp just as a precaution.
-
There are some Sony and HP laptops coming with 3612, they are like 500USD the whole Laptop...it's cheaper to buy that and pull the cpu change it for another and sell it, but they may use the bga version...hmm

(sorry for two posts in a row! Ryan can maybe merge these?) -
@Prema Which video is it? Is there a video about sound quality? I might have missed it.So far I have only seen one video showing the BIOS. -
Ya, that stormy Vegas clip...

I was wondering how does it actually feel playing Battlefield 3 on a 11.6"?
And if I were to get a 1600*900,what sort of settings would I expect to have? (Preferebly with no AA turned on) -

Man, this is getting disappointing. Is Mythology really the -only- manufacturer that will offer the 35W quad core? What have I been waiting all this time for then? Can any other reseller confirm or deny this?

Some more benchmarks if you're willing to trust Eurocom and are looking for synthetic ones.

was planning on ordering from xoticpc. but if there are delays, i think i might just give in and get a sandybridge. i've been putting off this whole buying laptop thing for far too long. i really do need one lol

Soo... then this brings us to the money question...
I'd either go one end and get the cheapest sandybridge + default specs to get the most bang for the buck, or the highest ivybridge+ upper end specs to pack the most performance in the smallest package available.
How much of a performance difference (% wise, fps wise w/e) would a 650M+sandybridge i5 will show versus a 650m + ivybridge i7? Is the cpu the bottleneck? Or will I see comparable (10-20% difference) performances? I don't mind having to go down a quality level to play the same game if it saves $500, but if it makes such a difference as to make certain unplayable games playable, then that's something entirely different. -

I know there has been a lot of discussion on this, however I can say this...
Many resellers in the US will NOT ship the 3612QM at this time in this model.
We can be assured that what IS shipped 'has passed testing with flying colors'. That is all I can say at this point.

Thanks. Well, obviously I probably won't be gaming when off the battery, so the integrate graphics won't do much difference, right? As long as there's still an option to use the 650M when necessary, I think this won't be a problem.
And the battery life should be offset by lower clock speed of the cheaper sandybridge... or am I being completely mistaken? -

I know Intel CPU's typically downclock themselves on battery, not sure if Intel IGP does as well. I sure hope not. -
what would the price difference between the 3610 and the 2640 be?

I take it the GT 650M in this model is soldered on to the motherboard, makes me curious about it's VRAM, is it shared memory from our RAM? or is it using it's own dedicated VRAM?
