I'm confused about this part. Does this mean the laptop won't charge when gaming?

Only when it was full up on a higher processor then its supposed to be on the 90W PSU :) So an edge case.

We'll have benches too as soon as we get them all in.

Nice! I want to see frames per second and min-max temps while running demanding games.

Mythlogic: when you played that BF3, how warm was the keyboard, especially under left hand?

Good question. I also want to know if 6110 is experiencing any downclocking/underclocking while running it or are the frames constant?

That are amazing temps for gpu considering it is connected to the same cooling with a 90c CPU. There is even some room to undervolt the gpu...which will ease the load on the PSU, too.

The CPU temps get me worried a bit though...90c while just gaming is too high IMHO. What if I put on some video encoding and max 4 cores 8 threads for 3-4 hours?
I guess for my stuff I'll have to go with a 3612QM...

When we stressed the CPU only for hours on end it only hit like 88C, which as we've found from the W150's they'll run happily at 99C for a long time, so while hot its not OMG or anything like that

Also on the keyboard we didn't notice it getting any hotter than if you rested your hand on something for a long time, it was warm but not noticable or uncomfortable.

I'm wondering about this too. How much does it heat up when gaming? For example, say you just put the computer in your lap.

Also, I'm eager to know how Skyrim works out!

Interesting, so by reverse speed-binned you mean they are cherry picking the most efficient chips to package as the 3612QM? So given equal cooling those chips will have a better chance of OC(or undervolting?)?

Can you even OC or undrevolt these chips anyhow? I don't think you can without BIOS support. I'd be more interested in undervolting.

Just like the other Sager - Clevo models, this model too should not be on your lap when gaming.

It's vents as seen in the video would not be able to breathe. This is a mini gaming rig after all... :)

I'm waiting on results of the 3610 vs 3720,since the 3612 is way more expensive.

Well, I think going with anything more than 3610 will be problematic from both power and heat standpoint. The 3610 is basically 3612 just slightly faster and likely slightly more power consumption. The 3720 will probably draw even more power and run hotter.

I think what Myth means is they take a chip that passed the tests to be a 3610QM and block it at the lower speed for the 3612QM, where it will drag less current to run that speed.

The Quadcores that the Chinese currently offer on this model are:

    Intel Core i7 3612QM: http://www.notebookcheck.com/Intel-Core-i7-3612QM-Notebook-Prozessor.70754.0.html

We aren't any happier about it then everyone else :) Its not a popular chip so the price changes on up because of less quantity.

Ones in the office were saying that this model has the best sound and loudest we have heard in a 10" or 11" machine! :)

Well of course, but I saw it had lots of vents on the sides and so on. What if I took something solid to put it on? Like the hard cover of a magazine? Would it get uncomfortably warm compared to other 11,6" computers on load? I currently use a Lenovo X100e, and I usually put it on a magazine when I lay down. It gets rather warm even when just surfing, sometimes to the point of crashing (only after several hours of use though).

3612QM looks really good but if it's going to cost a couple of hundred more than the 3610QM( which is what Myth said it will come with I think ) I'm sticking with that higher wattage and temps aside.
Any other reason to go with the 3612QM besides that?
If it can handle the 3610QM I'm starting to think that's the way to go if you want Quad IVB.
    Thoughts?

I can't imagine there to be much difference in 3610qm and 3612qm as far as thermals and power. It must be near borderline 35W TDP and binned the 3610QM in the 45W camp just as a precaution.

There are some Sony and HP laptops coming with 3612, they are like 500USD the whole Laptop...it's cheaper to buy that and pull the cpu change it for another and sell it, but they may use the bga version...hmm

I think the battery life was mentioned as 410 minutes which is with onboard graphics.I think you can extend it if you add a SSD to it.

@Prema Which video is it? Is there a video about sound quality? I might have missed it.So far I have only seen one video showing the BIOS.

I was wondering how does it actually feel playing Battlefield 3 on a 11.6"?
And if I were to get a 1600*900,what sort of settings would I expect to have? (Preferebly with no AA turned on)

I think you mean Mythlogic? And I don't know, if they are the only ones right now, I'm sure it wont be for long. I sure hope others get matte screens though, I really need one badly, but considering the prices of all other resellers I just don't see how I can afford to buy from Mythlogic after the shipping costs and the taxes I'll have to pay, even if they managed to give me a bit of a discount it'd probably still be too expensive.

Buy an appropriate laptop pad like the Logitech N315: Amazon.com: Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315: Electronics

Good point. Good question though. If it's PGA that is actually an excellent idea. Wish I knew because then I'd just order a W110ER with an i5 and swap it with the 3612 and resell the Sony. Any way to find out?

It will HAVE to be the 3612QM in the Sager. Only reason I say this is because the W110ER only supports max 35W TDP for CPU and dual core ivy bridge CPU's are delayed a couple months. Unless Sager decided on the 3610QM for the same reason as Mythlogic noted. I guess we'll find out tomorrow what pops up as the chip.

If you mean 3DMark06 that's because default resolution is 1280x1024 which you can't run on the built-in screen.

Soo... then this brings us to the money question...

I'd either go one end and get the cheapest sandybridge + default specs to get the most bang for the buck, or the highest ivybridge+ upper end specs to pack the most performance in the smallest package available.

How much of a performance difference (% wise, fps wise w/e) would a 650M+sandybridge i5 will show versus a 650m + ivybridge i7? Is the cpu the bottleneck? Or will I see comparable (10-20% difference) performances? I don't mind having to go down a quality level to play the same game if it saves $500, but if it makes such a difference as to make certain unplayable games playable, then that's something entirely different.

I know there has been a lot of discussion on this, however I can say this...

Many resellers in the US will NOT ship the 3612QM at this time in this model.

We can be assured that what IS shipped 'has passed testing with flying colors'. That is all I can say at this point. :)

Ivy Bridge will offer substantial integrated graphics performance (like 30-40% over HD 3000), and slight battery life improvements over Sandy Bridge. Otherwise the CPU is far from the bottleneck for gaming.

Thanks. Well I guess it's safe to say 3610QM it is then. ;)

Thanks. Well, obviously I probably won't be gaming when off the battery, so the integrate graphics won't do much difference, right? As long as there's still an option to use the 650M when necessary, I think this won't be a problem.

And the battery life should be offset by lower clock speed of the cheaper sandybridge... or am I being completely mistaken?

That won't make a difference. Ivy Bridge is a process/die shrink, and is quite a bit more power efficient than Sandy Bridge. You'll get better battery life out of Ivy Bridge no matter what. Both Ivy and Sandy automatically downclock on battery to save power anyway. Now the actual difference in terms of minutes of battery life might not be that significant overall.

Well you can actually game at the native resolution (1366x768) using the HD 4000 with current generation games, albeit at low detail, but still able, so you should be able to game on battery using the Intel GPU.

I know Intel CPU's typically downclock themselves on battery, not sure if Intel IGP does as well. I sure hope not.

I take it the GT 650M in this model is soldered on to the motherboard, makes me curious about it's VRAM, is it shared memory from our RAM? or is it using it's own dedicated VRAM?
