Thats the internal Xotic SKU. The screen is a standard HD (1366x768), glossy screen with 45% color gamut. We're looking for better screens, but there are really not any better screens out there. We may offer a matte option however.

Looks like a great little machine. A 650m in a 11.6" notebook?!? I wonder how well the cooling system can cope with that i7 and 650m.

Do you know when you might offering the matte screen option? I was going to order today but if there is a matte screen coming I'm willing to wait.

Now that the unit is available for order can you post the service manual so we can see how easy it will be to swap the CPU down the road?

As long as you have it before Ivy Bridge becomes available, sounds good. More resolution would be nice, but it is an 11 inch notebook--have to sacrifice something.

A 1600x900 option would be great, who knows, maybe even a 1920x1080 option. Apple was able to cram a ridiculous 2048x1536 into the new iPad (10"), why don't PC manufacturers follow suit? I also miss the older 16:10 ratio, but I guess you can't have it all.

Will there be a UK equivalent released anytime soon?
Im finding I'm drawn ever closer to more & more compact gaming laptops.
I'm considering replacing my M14x and are holding out for something like this or the yet to be announced M11x r4.

Lol, they only make a few 11.6" LVDS screens, now if it was eDP.... Then you could probably squeeze a better screen in there.

Why didn't they use eDP then? I've never heard much about LCD display connectors but would have assumed that similar to desktop display connections that you would be able to convert between them.

Yes Ivy Bridge will work just fine in these. It will be limited to 35W TDP processors however, so thats the dual-cores plus the 35W Ivy Bridge quad core.

I'll stick with a dual-core, personally. Save some cash.

Not that there's anything wrong with quad core.

Can this be customized to be able to run games on high settings? (I'm talking games like BF3, Blacklight retribution, the next assassin's creed, etc.)

It depends on the games, but right now you only have the choice of the (non-upgradeable) 650m w/ Optimus. The 650m should fall somewhere in between the performance of the older 555m and 560m, so benchmarks for those cards will give you some idea. BF3 will probably run on medium or high at the lower stock resolution, but I can't speak to the others personally.

Thanks for the quick response. Do you think any other (more powerful) options will be available soon or is this the only option we'll be looking at for this particular unit. I also wanted to know if anyone knew when photos of this model will be available.

Just a note in case you missed it....

This model has 2GB DDR3 video memory not the 1GB DDR5 that was posted earlier.

There is no reason to believe that there will be anything more powerful than the 650M put into the W110ER. Cooling space and power concerns, in addition to it not having an MXM slot, strongly suggest that it won't.

The mere fact that it's a 650M and not something smaller is impressive enough. No need to slap a nuke launcher on a VW Beetle, here.

Haha, although the VW Beetle thing would be kind of funny. Just kidding...

I'm a college student (I study mechanical engineering) so I use a lot of proragms like MatLAB, Maple, CATIA, AutoCAD and others. I also like gaming and would like to run games on high settings while keeping a relatively portable computer since I carry it with me everyday. Do you think this computer has that kind of power? My actual laptop is a toshiba satelite (bought it for 650$ 3 years ago) and it runs most programs fine. The only problem is the gaming aspect which really sucks. Do you guys think this model can be a good portable gaming laptop that will allow me to game for a few years on good settings? (I'd have it connect to my 22 inch hd tv most of the time)

Really amazing little machine it seems to be, i really hope to see an option for 1600x900 screen the GT650m should be more than enough for most games at that res.

It will have solid gaming power, since it will fall between the 555m (meh) and the 560m (very good).

Connecting it to your 22" monitor will reduce its performance, assuming you are running a higher resolution. What games are you playing?

If you are really concerned about getting max performance in a semi portable rig, perhaps you should look at the clevo P150em, as that is max performance in semi portable... The clevo w110er is more max portable with best performance in its class (under 13")

Well I'd like to ba able to play games like the nexy Assassin's creed (or all of them for that matter), the mass effect series, blacklight retribution and other online games.

The ideal size for me would have been more around 13-14 inches but that doesn't really seem to exist in a powerful machine.

Really the next step up would be the gtx660m and the smallest machine I've seen that in so far is the m11x r2 which if your going alienware 14" you minus well go another brand 15" as the sizes arn't that far off and you can get much more power.... Just my opinion though :)

I do not approve of shoving that amount of video memory into a system that might break 800mb usage in metro. Seriously they know the screen is 1366x768, it's not like that requires 1gb of video memory. I want to punch clevo really hard in the face right now.

I have a Lenovo Y570 with the "special" GT 555M (pretty much a 550), and Mass Effect 1 runs on all high settings at about 40-60fps at 1366x768. Dunno about Assassin's Creed, but on an 11.6" display, I'd say so long as you're hitting 30fps or more, you'll do just fine. But it may be wisest to wait for the refresh of the m14x. I would imagine that it would at least have a GTX 660M (670+ is wishful thinking). That'd net you about 5 (maybe 10) percent gains on those games.

Damn, 1600x900 at 11.6". As much as I'd like to cram as many pixels as possible in my viewing space, that text would be tiny. Maybe next year...

And do we know when the new alienware line up will come out? I've heard the m14x is as big as many other 15 inch laptops so I might as well go with a sager 9130 or a sager 9150 (customized to a 1500$ budget) if it takes a while for them to come out.

No, the W models won't have upgradeable graphics. If you're asking why that's not a stock option, well, only Clevo knows. But I suspect it'd be too awesome. ;)

Really, the only difference between the GDDR5 and the DDR3 will be at higher resolutions-well, that, and the higher thermal envelope for the GDDR5-equipped systems that'll allow it more headroom for OCing.

Which is a shame, but the DDR3 model does have the higher clocks to help offset that. So instead of a tremendous gain, the GDDR5 version of the GT 650M will see a slight gain over the DDR3.

    Not to shabby, really.

This will be equipped with IVB the same time as all the others. Speculation is the 29th of this month but NDAs mean we don't know exactly when.

What IS confirmed that we will have the lowest TDP quad core in this machine.

All the other specs are released so I'm not sure what you are waiting for hellojello. If you give a call to any of the resellers they can discuss with you all the specs besides the IVB cpu stuff.
