Looks like @sicily428 beat me to it.Certain N series models do, also (have separate heatsinks for CPU and GPU).

Thanks! But I'm confused. He says it's a 15 inch, when the pa70 is a 17 inch. And he says it's a 1060, but it seems to play games (unless I'm mistaken) like a 1070. Am I wrong about something here?
-
I'm also confused
It could also be a pa50hp6 -
That's what I was thinking as well. Do you think that's the case? Do we have any idea when those are going to be released?
-
This model or the pa71hs is only coming with 1070?
How is cooling on this one? -
Anyone selling the PA7xHS with QHD 120Hz display ?
-
From another thread:
Does anyone know if this is a 6-bit TN panel or a true IPS panel? According to google it's this panel:
http://www.panelook.com/LP173WF4-SPF1_LG Display_17.3_LCM_parameter_21056.html
Which seems to be a TN with only 72% of NTSC colour space. Usually IPS panels have 100% of sRGB and around 86-87% of AdobeRGB colour space. I'm asking because colour representation is really important to me as I work a lot with colours and photography.
This laptop seems to be really sweet for my purposes, but it would definitely be a deal breaker if it only had a TN panel inside.
Cheers -
^^ It's an IPS panel, not TN. Plus, 72% NTSC is approximately 100% sRGB (very approximately of course) so actually it's not a bad panel at all. But if you want something with higher gamut then go for the 4K which is somewhere around the 93% NTSC / 100% aRGB level.
I'm not allowed to link directly to our website, but here is a snippet from the XMG Pro17 configuration page:
"DISPLAY
The following displays can be choosen:
- 17.3" Full HD IPS | non-glare | G-SYNC
- 17.3" WQHD 120Hz/5ms | non-glare | G-SYNC
- 17.3" UHD (4K) IPS | non-glare | G-SYNC
FHD and 4K are IPS, the WQHD 120Hz is TN.Blacky and TheMr.Brown like this. -
@Night Hawk
Here's a review for another laptop with the same panel (there are relativelly minor differences beetween the same panels from different laptop models or even for the same model):

The LG LP173WF4 FHD and the same one in the Acer still seems to be a 6-bit TN panel according to this link: http://www.panelook.com/LP173WF4-SPF5_LG Display_17.3_LCM_parameter_29880.html. Display colours says 262k (6-bit) and the relatively low contrast ratio of 700:1 is typical for a TN panel.
AUO B173ZAN01 on the other hand seems to be an 8-bit IPS panel with 16,7m colours according to this link: http://www.panelook.com/B173ZAN01.0_AUO_17.3_LCM_parameter_25358.html. XMG, I can't see any Pro17 config with a 1070 card, it just redirects me to the main page, only one with 1080. Do you also ship to Australia or is it only Europe? -
In Romania, the PA71 is shipped with a 120Hz display, made by Chi Mei N173HHE-G32 (CMN1747)
-
Hmm interesting because basically Chi-Mei 120 Hz are batter than AUO (i mean mostly by contrast above 1000 vs ~700)
There is also interesting 15,6 inch panel but it is for now without G-Sync support (contrast around 1100 : 1) N156HHE GA1
Last edited: Oct 30, 2017 -
It should be. Although this panel is considered TN, and it does not support G-Sync. So there is a downside.
-
17,3 inch one N173HHE-G32 is certified for G-sync but in MSI laptops from what i see.
-
Yeah, apparently you need a custom BIOS from Perma to enable the G-sync, because Clevo did not pay for the certification. But the panel itself is G-sync capable.
-
The Pro 17 only comes with a 1060, no 1070 option that's correct.
The FHD LG panel is definitely IPS, it's actually AH-IPS as the link in your post details. The AUO panel is AHVA which is not "true" IPS, although it functions in the same way. That is only because Hitachi owns the IPS technology patent and LG has the patent rights to use it. AUO can't call their panels IPS because they don't have the patent rights, so instead they have their own wide viewing angle technology which they call AHVA. 700:1 is pretty high already, the TN panels from several years ago in laptops were generally 300:1 or 400:1 maximum. But you should take into account the colour gamut, black level and other factors in addition to the contrast ratio - plus these ratio figures tend to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
We ship worldwide (if you get in touch with our sales department they can organise everything for you), but the website is currently limited in the countries which it will allow you to easilly order from.....it's something that is being updated now and very soon it'll be much easier to order and ship to outside Europe - plus much more website functionality to come!raz8020 likes this. -
I guess it's the XMG P707?
-
Howdy! Would you mind telling me what your experience with Multicom has been like... I've sent them two emails now, trying to confirm which panels are included in their PA70 laptops, and have had no response so far.
Also, what's your opinion of the 1440p 120Hz screen? I'm torn between ordering 1080p 60Hz and the 1440p 120Hz. Are there any display issues with the TN panel, any banding, etc? Could you maybe tell me the make/model of the display panel in your laptop please? (I think that information is available in Aida64).
Takk!
-
The P707 is no more, only Pro 17!
I can't guarantee it, but everyone should have the same panels available in the same chassis. Clevo offer different panel options, but in one chassis model all the FHD UPS are the same, all the 120Hz TN are the same etc etc. Very occasionally Clevo change the panel version, but not this close after a chassis launch. -
No 7820HK and GTX 1070 ? :-( .
-
-
It's available... currently I see it from Sager or XPC. Just no 4K with the 7820HK which is what I have been waiting for months for.
-
@XMG
I would love to buy a PA71HS-G 7820HK GTX 1070 1440p 120Hz G-Sync... Can you tell me if we have to wait long for yours? Can’t find any like this in Europe...
Also on this model I see you don’t offer the Grizzly Kryonaut repaste service. Any reason for that?
ThanksLast edited: Nov 4, 2017 -
my 7820HK and gtx 1070 with 100hz GSYNC IPS is currently on sale for $950 if anyone is interested. Just moved to a desktop rig

@Webmaximus - on the paste, with 1060 and 7700HQ it's not necessary as we have very good temperatures with the paste we use by default. If you do want a paste upgrade then I would recommend to contact our sales department as they might be able to arrange this for you - please pm me if you wish and I can send you the information.
1070 and 7820HK is still being worked on, the engineers are testing the samples to optimise performance and so on - at the moment I don't have a date unfortunately.jsstp24n5 and Webmaximus like this. -
Thanks @XMG
Is the FHD option you offer for this model the 75hz overclockable to 100hz? -
@Webmaximus it's the SPF5 variant which is 60Hz - that's the FHD panel that Clevo offers in this chassis and so everyone should get the same. I think you're refering to the LG LP173WF4-SPD1 as this was discussed as a 75Hz panel in the past, but actually it's a 60Hz panel as well. That doesn't mean that you can't overclock either of them, I just can't guarantee by how much.

Hey Meaker, just wondering if you can tell me if this is a unified heatsink or not. I find it hard to tell. Kinda looks like one but kinda doesn't lol
-

That fourth heatpipe is shared to the CPU area yes. -
I see. Still seems to be a pretty good cooling solution. Really looking forward to this thing!

It just helps the GPU maintain its boost clock in gaming

That's what's important! Thanks Meaker! Have a good one!

I believe this isn't the same model. The ethernet port is on the wrong side.

Has anyone seen the Medion Erazer X7857? I can't find much info on it but it seems to be a pa70hs. If it is, why can I not find any north american sellers with a similar lid... The odd curvyness on the lids I find in N.A. being removed would sway me closer to picking one up, even more so if it was on the pa71hs. Oh, theres also the x7855 which is basically the slightly lowered spec version.

You won't find it it North America, sometimes they are found in Aldi supermarkets but that's about it. Medion laptops are generally only available in Europe.
-
Oh sorry, I must not of been clear. I'm not asking if that brand can be found in N.A., I just mean if anyone knows of a pa70/71 with a similar lid that's sold here in N.A.? I was hoping one could be found without the curvy detail on the lid like the X7857 / x7855.

There are not that many original importers to the US and they usually all go for a single style.

There's a Q7 ?
-
Does anyone know that if the panel Chi Mei N173HHE-G32 from MSI GT73vr will work in this PA71HS? The GT73vr has G-Sync so I guess it'll work just fine in our PA71HS.
If it worked that'd be awesome since that panel is 120 hz and 100% sRGB! -
Unfortunately even if the specs are good, the panel (N173HHE-G32) is not special. It's not 100% sRGB, and the antiglare filter is especially bad. It has dark blue tint that doesn't go away even after calibration.
Plus, it does not support G-sync on the Clevo model. You need a custom bios for that, that isn't out yet.
The bad panel reviews, plus the bad reviews on sound quality is what made me decide not to buy this model. -
Hey Meaker, I noticed that the only display you offer is 60hz G-Sync... Is the display overclockable? If so, what refresh rate could be expected from an OC? Thanks.
-
I bet it is the same 17,3 inch IPS we know so it should be OCable to 75 or in rare cases up to 100 Hz
-
Has anyone gotten this yet with the 7820hk? If so, care to share temps/OC potential? Thanks!
-
So I just ordered my Q7 (which is essentially this laptop) with the help of @woodzstack and @Eurocom Support . Got the 7820hk with a QHD 120Hz panel. Really looking forward to this and will for sure post my thoughts!
