Yes this should be a popular one! With the 14.96” (w) x 9.80” (d) x 0.73” (h) 4.19 lbs. including Bare bone and 55WH Battery Pack.

Interesting. Aftershock PC revealed and began taking pre-orders for this notebook nearly a month ago; they branded it the Aftershock Prime-15. I didn't recognise the notebook when they mentioned it, but that was because I couldn't find it on the Clevo website.
Is this meant to be the successor to the P6 series? If so, it's not particularly good; there's no G-Sync, fewer M.2 and SATA slots. The cooling system and internals, however, look really excellent, with separate systems for the CPU and GPU. The best is three heat pipes and two fans for the GPU:
Original Facebook post by Aftershock here.
I still cannot believe that Clevo didn't put the 1060 in their P640, when nearly every other 13-14" notebook on the market has a 1060.Last edited: May 12, 2017 -

I was excited about this...until I saw that there are no Thunderbolt 3 ports.

If this handles well under load with no throttling...I don't see why anyone would pick up the p650 over this, especially considering the price..

I can't add it in good conscious until we have some reviews on thermals, but my hopes are pretty high for this one because Clevo is usually pretty good at that. It's definitely jumped up to the top of my watch list.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

@Meaker@Sager if you get the chance can you compare the chassis to the P650? Is anything metal?

It's not a successor, it is running parallel for those who want to give up some of the storage options and G-sync switch for a lighter/thinner build.

Yes, some of the centre structure is not for weight/durability/cost/cooling reasons.

The design is never going to please everyone, hence why you get different revisions

Is there any chance of a gsync version of the p950?

No MUX on the motherboard so not internally. External screens can run it.

I currently have a Sager NP8172 17.3" laptop and I will say, I LOVE IT! However, it's just too bulky when I'm travelling. I'll be doing more of it in the future and so to save my sanity and back muscles during TSA, I want to sell this machine off and change to a 15.4" laptop. My priorities are Weight = Battery Life > GPU> CPU > Ports. I'm mainly a WoW gamer and I periodically play Diablo and Gw2, I will sometimes play Overwatch when I want to hate myself and I'm interested in Mass Effect Andromeda. I do some light audition footage video editing and some light stuff like spreadsheets and internet stuffs.
I have a spreadsheet dedicated to all the laptops I had an interest in but I wasn't in love with any of them. The recent 2 main contenders were the Gigabyte Aero 15 and the Asus ROG Stryx but the price of the Aero got way out of hand too fast. I'd like to keep it below $1700. The ROG was in the 1700 range and for the 1070, it seemed like a good deal but I hear of a heat issues often with these computers and I wasn't IN LOVE with the unit. The ugly keyboard just was a major turn off and there weren't as many ports as the Sagers have.
So I was entertaining the Sager NP8157 ( http://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP8157.html) which has a 1070 in it and a 120hz monitor with gsync but the battery is meh which is to be expected with a 1070 and it came out a little heavier than I'd prefer.
So I entertained the Sager NP8156 ( http://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP8156.html) which is almost the exact lateral move to the machine I have right now except it's a 15.6" version. The 8156 has a 1060 with a 120hz gsync screen. There's flexibility with the hard drives one can install which is nice as well. The weight is about 5.5 pounds. Meh battery life as well but I've been plugged in this long so it makes it a contender.
Then Sager came out with the NP8950 ( http://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP8950.html) which is super lightweight (BIG BONUS) with a 1060 (lateral move to what I have now) 4ish hour battery life (nice plus). Basically this is THE machine I really want... with the exception of the screen. the screen has no gsync or 120hz refresh. It's a 15.6” IPS HD 1920x1080 Display.
So now my question is... how important is Gsync for the games I play? I'm not a big fan of games like Counter Strike or Call of Duty or any A++ level games. I don't know what the future holds but I'm not a real fan of FPS games. Is it worth it to just buy the 8950 machine now or hold off to see if they implement it with GSYNC or 120hz refresh? I spoke to the guys at Sager on twitter and they said that if there is enough demand for it, they'll entertain creating a unit with it. Is that a possibility in the future or is that false hope? For the case of future proofing as I don't want to sell this next one off for several years down the road, should I wait or should I just entertain the 8156 instead? Thoughts? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
For the games you play G-sync would not play a role.
-
-
You wouldn't be able to use the G-Sync feature anyway. The mDP ports on the P6xxSx series are routed to the Intel iGPU unlike in later generations..

My next unit must be 2Kg, ThunderBolt Support, good battery and medium FullHd gaming capable. It might be a P95xHS series. But ( probably) not this model, because:
- The power connector placement is a bit absurd
- Still no option for a bigger battery if you choose to ditch the hdd (see Asus UX505 models)
- No Thunderbolt support
