Every single output is wired to the primary GPU.

Thanks...that was my guess but I needed to be sure So if I was passing through a secondary GPU for VM use, I'd probably want some solid remote access software for the VM. Appreciate it!

No problem, also remember the IGP is unpowered and totally unavailable.

    Hello Everyone,
My RMA'd system is coming back to me this Friday so am waiting for it :) . I got the 780 W power adapter for the machine but the connector that goes into the laptop is somewhat small and so drops out very easily. I thought that if I can paste a couple of STRONG ring magnets inside the system around the socket then it would attract the connector to a degree and help keep it in place. In the meantime I wanted to ask if anyone has tried making something similar to this https://www.instructables.com/id/MagSafe-for-the-Rest-of-Us-A-DIY-Magnetic-Power-A/ . Please note that I didn't wish to change anything on the connector itself as shown here but just to paste some magnets inside / around the socket that receives the wire. Any suggestions anyone ?

Do you have an answer from RMA? And what was the problem with the laptop?
P.s we have a new bios update, for our problem with the sleep mode.

I would not place magnets in unintended places.

That is why I was asking if this would be ok or something problematic as all I was doing is put some magnets to act as a partial pull / support for the power cord so it goes in the socket and sticks there for a bit ! .

I think hid already updated the BIOS for me so I should have it with the new BIOS. The issue was that the laptop suddenly stopped in the middle of the game and the display went black. I sent it to HID and after inspection they told me that the graphics went off and likely due the issue they quoted as one with the evoc 870tmr for which they had sent emails to all owners for an RMA to correct it. So hopefully it should be fine

I'd recommend the cord being let rest on the desk before going off the edge of the desk.

I got my system after the RMA and it looks fine except for one thing. The other things are working fine but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to install the audio drivers properly which enables the internal DAC. I have tried a few of the drivers from here http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/realtek-hd-audio-mod-for-clevo.814860/page-18 but none of them install. All of them give me an error: Install Realtek HD Audio driver Failure! Error Code: 0xE000024B. Can someone help me with this or redirect me to drivers I can install ?

Did you disable driver signature before installing? BTW install the drivers from the last pages. Those are the updated ones. Solution for that error is provided by @j95 in this post:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/index.php?posts/10787873

Doing a Google search would provide you said solution

Thank you for the reply. I tried the steps as listed there but to no avail.
I have a p870tm-r from hid. Steps I tried and the result (hope someone can help further). My hardware ids do belong to the list so not sure what else could be wrong
    • HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0899&SUBSYS_1558087B&REV_1000
    • HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0899&SUBSYS_1558087B
    - Firstly uninstall current Realtek HDA drivers under Programs & Features (Control Panel).
I looked in device manager and deleted anything realtek there under "Sound Video and game controllers". I also removed sound blaster 2.

    - You must disable driver signing before installing drivers. Hold down the Shift key while you click the “Restart” option -> Select “Troubleshoot” -> Advanced options -> Startup Settings -> select “Disable driver signature enforcement” option.
I opened an elevated cmd and typed : BCDEDIT /set nointegritychecks ON .

    - Copy extracted "Realtek_UAD...Clevo_mod_.exe" to desktop then run as administrator (Temporarily disable AV software)
I tried doing this for quite a few of the versions on the premamod page. The only version that successfully installed without errors was :
    Realtek_HDA_6.0.1.8569 (Legacy) Creative_SBC_Clevo_Mod.exe (full package) .
All others failed with the same error as above. For the 8569 HDA version (above). I got the drivers and the sound blaster 2 installed but couldn't get Realtek audio to install as it gives me the error : Realtek audio does not support this machine.

    - Follow the instructions in the readme to the letter.
I think I did that based on what I said above. Did I miss something ?

You did everything good. Maybe view the hardware ID the audio controller and ask @j95 if he can add it to the drivers for you in the mod thread!? Don't know what else to do beside that

    Hi lsflp,

The B173QTN01.0 display with the scan lines was annoying.

I had that same display and it was horrible to look at, so I replaced it with the B173QTN01.2 which also has 120Hz; QHD 2560x1440; Matte, but no scan lines. It's a good looking display and reliable so far. You can probably pick this display up new via Aliexpress or eBay for around $130 - $135 with shipping included.

    Manufactured: 17/02
    H/W: 1A F/W: 1
    YQ16H91J8222-BRS201

    Model Name B173QTN01.2
    Manufacturer AUO
    Screen Size17.3 inch
    Pixel Number 2560(RGB)×1440 (Quad-HD)
    Luminance 400 cd/m² (Typ.)
    Color Depth 16.7M 72% (CIE1931)
    Refresh Rate 120Hz
    Signal Type eDP (4 Lanes)

I bought mine from eBay for about $125.00 with shipping included. The link to the seller is listed below.

The eBay listing shows the horrible B173QTN01.0 display for sale, but just contact the seller to request the B173QTN01.2 instead before you make an offer/buying it.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/120Hz-17-3-LED-LCD-SCREEN-FOR-Eurocom-SKY-X7E2-B173QTN01-0-H-W-1A-2560X1440/163134337605?

    Good luck.

Hello guys, now I have a very serious problem with my laptop, I do not know what to do.

    Configuration:
32 gb of ram 2400 crucial
    8700k
    RTX 2080
    2 x hard disk 2.5 "of 1tb each one.
    2 x NVMe 1 tb each one.
    AC Adapter 330w

For a week, when I try to benchmark or simply open a game, the PC is completely turned off.

the temperatures never rise from 57C in cpu and in gpu they are around 72C.

I do not know what to check, I already apply thermal paste again, it's still the same.

So something about it going full power is doing it. I would check your GPU VRM is making proper contact with the heatsink.

I had same issue and i could track what is problem. In my case it was power cord. One 220 W power brick couldn't deliver that much power. First time it happen during firestrike test.

I ran test and after 10 sec laptop turned off. At first i though that GPU burned down coz i couldnt boot it up. Than i realized that power brick is "off". Green light is off. So i tried another 220 W brick and it worked. After while first power brick started working again. After all of this i re-run test with both power supply and it went without problem.

My hypothesis in your case is that - when you plug in power - laptop shuts off instantly coz power delivery forcing it to work on higher leverls, which means higher power demand. Demand couldn't be fulfilled = so it turns off. To confirm it - check if power brick is also turning off after it happens.

Take whole story with grain of salt. It might be something else but i guess it's easy to check it this way - and also easy to fix it (which in this case would be getting another same power brick and "merger")

I will disassemble the power brick and take the output voltage from the board, because the damn green led take a long time for power off

    Thanks

I had a similar problem. Was a short circuit in one of my 880M's and the psu would turn off totally. The gpu died but in my case the laptop wouldn't turn on with that same gpu. Had to take out the gpu for it to power on

Sounds like the brick is happy to supply the 19.5v and is not detecting a short if it never fluctuates it is not struggling either. That suggests something else down the chain like the GPU vrm.

P870TM-R this is really P870TM-G and P775TM-R is really P775TM1-G so.. Different is so.. Clevo P870TM-G (max GTX 1070/1080 in Sli) and is eol (end of life) and is discontinued and P775TM1-G is manufactured with first GTX 1070/1080 and is evaluated up to RTX Models.

Well it's not just the SLI and it does support RTX cards with the right bios/vendor.

It comes with far superior cooling solution, both for the CPU and GPU. As well as room for a vapor chamber gpu heatsink, which can dissipate something like 400-500w worth of heat.

Companies like HIDevolution offer it with an RTX 2080 plus the vapor chamber.

That's interesting, because the vapor chamber can't physically fit into the p775tm chassis. Could you link where they say that?

    No worries.

In the end it comes down to your needs and budget. P775tm1 can (apart from SLI) fit the same hardware (cpu/gpu/ram etc) that the p870tm1 can, however the components will be limited by the cooling. And P870tm1 has a higher ceiling before thermals become a real issue.

The 870 is also a fair bit bigger to do that so there is a trade off on mobility even at this size class.
