It seems this model will not support 2080 SLI, I'm not sure?
Is the cooling solution will be the same as the TM1? We need to see some internal pictures.

yep, looks like SLI support is dropped on this one. doesnt really surprise me though... but maybe Clevo will up the TDP on the single 2080 to match or even surpass the desktop card :D

Is this an actual product that is different from P870TM1 or is it just a P870TM1 with an updated BIOS and has a different number added to make it a new product?

    Hope that makes sense..LOL @Donald@HIDevolution

I was really hoping for the SLI 2080 as that is what I usually go for. I have the 980m sli P870DM which I have had for 3 years and still works great but isn't 4K.

I will probably get this but would be really annoyed if the SLI came out 6 months down the line.

The original SLI connector is dead, NVLINK does not have a mobile connector version.

so either mobile SLI is dead or Clevo is still working on a proprietary solution like they did with the mxm form factor...

P870TM-R is only renamed P870TM-G because P870TM project is EOL and dont come back with single or sli version, unfortunatelly. For clear - this is not orginally 'P870TM-R' from CLEVO.

That's the name HIDevolution chose, since they are the ones shipping the P870TM with a RTX2080. Clevo themselves discontinued the model.

HIDevolution is a well known and respected reseller here at NBR, I doubt they would sell this particular mod without testing and upset their customer base. Since your company is based in Germany, perhaps that is why you are not familiar with the HIDevolution shop's reputation.

I haven't followed clevo since the X series days so wondering how it would compare to the p870tm or similar. Did the X series use to have same sized chassis and also gaming Nvidia gpus ? I think someone mentioned that it used to have the server processors so wonder if that is true !

When you order with any changes to the original manufacturer’s stock configuration or choose any service options from us, we will perform a full quality check - ensure latest stable BIOS firmware and drivers are installed, burn in stress testing for temperature, benchmark testing to ensure it is performing to standard, keyboard and touchpad test, check of ports for functionality, display check for abnormalities, and a physical check of the chassis for blemishes. You can also make notes to the technician if you would like us to look for something specific. A product that passes through our hands has a much lower chance of DOA (defect on arrival).

Here is what we do for Q.C. testing:

    Stress testing and Benchmarks:
    Firestrike/Time Spy
    PassMark/Performance test
    AIDA64 Extreme
    HDtunepro (for SSDs/HDDs)
    Memtest86
    Testmem5

    Monitoring software:
    HWiNFO64
    GPU-Z
MSI Afterburner + Rivatuner Statistics Server

We also do at least 30mins-1hr of intense online gaming at Ultra settings with high end games for those with a heavy build and mods.

Custom Prema BIOS is ready...just waiting for the release date on the 29th.

Call me (no PM's or email) for details on how you can get one as soon as they are released.

Are the internals for Phoenix 5 is different from Phoenix 4 ? Just wanted to confirm. I am wondering if waiting for 2080 with only a meagre boost in performance but a couple of hundreds costlier is something to wait for or should I go ahead with 1080 right away. I am not looking for the latest and greatest but am sure looking for possible upgradeability.

I am also wondering if after the 2080 series, the very next one will have an mxm connector or will even the single gpu connector change. If it will change then maybe will go with 2080 else 1080 is good enough. Any advise please.

hardware is the same, P870 was officially discontinued but unofficially its offered with 2080 and 9900K via PremaMOD. So just firmware is different.

Although I believe it is too early to ask this but is there any news of the nvidia AFTER 2080 ( 3080 ? ) will have mxm or will it be completely different and hence not compatible with p870tm?

Who knows? The 3000 series should be on Samsung's 7nm process so power draw will likely be lower than Turing. The die size should also be smaller so there is no reason why it couldn't fit on an MXM card. Whether it will be on MXM though is another matter since every generation more manufacturers drop it for BGA. Its too early to say for sure though.

Am I right in saying there is no point in getting 3000Mhz ram? I wont have access to Prema bios. I presume the ram will go the same speed of the FSB of the CPU which in my case will be 9700K I9 CPU which has a FSB of 2666Mhz?

    depends.

    namely on:

    1) application usage, whether or not ull see any performance boost compared to slower ram
    2) check and see if u have ram control in intel xtu, then u wouldnt need prema bios.
    3) base speed of ram sticks is different in each case. important thing to note here are the XMP profiles (overclocked, manual setting) and the JEDEC profiles (stock, automatic setting). the JEDEC profiles can have different speeds in each case. not sure but iirc the highest PnP sticks are rated at JEDEC 2800.

I don't have this laptop yet. Its not out yet. Just speccing it.

So what everyone is saying is that the CPU and memory work asynchronously now so I can have the RAM at 3000Mhz with no issues and it may provide a performance increase over 2666 ram if I play with settings in XTU.

I'm about 7 years out of date with my knowledge. I gave up keeping up with tech when I moved from building my own desktops to buying pre-built laptops.

The memory controller is on the CPU and scales with the ram frequency so it's always 1:1. 3000mhz will give a small bump over 2666mhz, wont really noticeable.

Looks like I can't find the listing for the P870TM-R (option with RTX) anymore on HIDEvo, @Donald@HIDevolution any insight? I have been watching the site everyday, but with Clevo ending the p870tm line and now HID not showing the listing anymore, it is making me a little worrisome.

definitely no go with i9 9900k HT on. But if someone wants better chip and willing to sacrifice HT for stability - it is viable.

I think that with LM and delid it is possible to run i7 9700k at 4.8-4.9 ghz for all cores without hitting 90C.

    Talking about KM ofc.

Hi @UltraMale, do you plan on creating a thread for the EVOC P750TM-R with RTX and i9?

    Hello,

Is it possible to download this bios anywhere? I have a 9900k I would like to install but am on an older bios version (1.05.13). I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Your reseller should provide you with the latest bios files.
