Been here six years. Now I get to start one of these. Maybe next time I'll poach the top end model thread before Phoenix does.

Yes, I believed that would be the case. I still figured we should have one for it, though. Though slight, there are a couple differences between them that some people tend to get confused about =D

Ah yeah. I know, I've been around NBR for a while. People hijack threads all the time, it's like a rite of passage =D

And no, I have not. IF I were to get a new laptop, it'd most definitely be a P870DM3. With the 120Hz screen. Mmm.

Fun fact, the 120Hz panel should be plug & play in these models here. May need a Prema mod to get Gsync working if you get a Gsync panel, but it should most certainly work. I want to see somebody actually do the mod. THEN I want to convince HIDevolution to offer it "unofficially" if people know where to ask ;)

I had the P670 with 1060 a week before returning it due to size. It is quieter than the 1070 version of P561 which has identical cooling like P670. If noise is an issue, the P670 with 1060 is fine in my book :)

I hope it's sooner. Clevo models generally don't last particularly long before a refresh shows up. I'd like it to be early in its life cycle =D.

    Hi everyone,

Just upgraded just a few weeks ago to a new Clevo (ProStar) P670RS-G 17.3" with:

    i7 6700HQ (2.6GHz)
    8GB DDR4 2400 MHz RAM stock + additional 32GB DDR 2400 MHz RAM (40GB RAM total)
    1TB SATA + 256GB OCZ RD400 (M.2 NVMe SSD)
    GTX 1070

I do sit my laptop on a fan but since the main vents are on the back of the laptop, the fan probably only makes a minor difference. I might overclock eventually, but just seeing how others are doing with GPU temps if available, since mine seems to run ice cold, no higher than 65C when running DOOM maxed out.

Ok so I was running DOOM but my temps were "low," even at maxed settings I was barely pushing the GPU core and thus wanted to see if I could get it "hotter." Thus I downloaded 3DMark, which is a very processing-heavy, and got this:

If anybody can recommend another app/benchmark/game that can push the CPU/GPU, let me know because this really seems low.

CPU is 3.5ghz. So why are your values lower? Are you downclocking?
Why does it say your max GPU clock is 608 Mhz?
Why are you only graphing the CPU during the "cpu only" and not including the gaming test?

As far as I know, these synthetic gaming benchmarks overemphasize average performance at the cost of <5% and <1% [of the time] FPS numbers.

That looks pretty great honestly. Glad to see those temps holding. You must have a really good heatsink!

Are you using max fans or auto fans?
CPU is 3.1GHz 4-core load. 3.5GHz only happens if a single core is stressed. The 6700HQ cannot be downclocked by adjusting turbo bins; it's either turbo on, or turbo off (2.5GHz flat).

    Outdated GPU monitoring software.

GPU shows 608 Mhz in idle.
I did Fire Strike, Time Spy and 3DMark 2011 - 12531, 5027 and 15616 respectively (CPU and GPU stock).

If you're talking about the Clevo Control Center... they don't make good software lol. It's their most glaring issue, and why we need Prema to fix their BIOSes.

I am basically doing these on request, I have rarely done benchmarking so I was not ready to do anything fancy, I can run again with other monitoring software. I also have all the Clevo drivers/software installed, including the Control Center, so that is possibly impacting these if at all, I was also running these with Chrome open so I could know what benchmarks to run. Auto fans. Will mess around with more testing later.

The gpu mhz are a problem with the program. If the gpu had 608mhz maximum, he would never have those results.

So I decided to download and install ALL the SAGER drivers (Intel, sound, X-Fi, Control Center, everything) and while Fire Strike only went up to 11762, my Time Spy exploded to 5062 (all stock settings, default nVidia 3D settings EXCEPT G-SYNC off, since I am running on external monitors). Will try 3DMark 2011 later.

USE THE SAGER APPS AND DRIVERS, NOT CLEVO! :)

With max fans on it is kind of noisy, yes, but it rarely gets that hot unless you are benchmarking to full load, during games it is not bad. I wear headphones so I don't notice it. When idle I can't even hear anything.

Actually since Gsync is broken on latest NVIDIA drivers the fact that you install working G-SYNC drivers will lower your GPU temps in some games since it wont do more than 60 or 75 fps (depends on system).
Also a broken Control Center could cause fan profile problems, not commn though.
    That's all i can think of :p

Oh, so it's nVidia's fault. Seems legit. They're always breaking something. I legit refuse to open GFE because it'll update and I'll get that stupid overlay that people can't exactly turn off that screws with your system.

So some P650 owners have an issue with the screen where alternating columns of pixels are not lit equally brightly creating "stripes" that are distracting, especially in blue and orange colors. Anyone with a P670 have the same issue? I am a little worried, since other issues with the laptop seem to be software-related and will eventually be fixed, while this may be hardware?

Hi everyone, been years since I posted.

I wanted to take apart my P670RS-G and remove the stock ram from under the keyboard, so while i was in there, I figured I would grab a copy of the BIOS straight off of the BIOS chip. It's been a number of years since I tooled around with such things... Since my Alienware M18x. :)

I wrote a guide way back when on how to go about dumping a UEFI BIOS, modding registers, unhiding forms, decoding IFR, etc... it's actually posted here on this forum, if I recall :)

I would like to release my modified BIOS, however, I did read that it is frowned upon due to Prema's BIOS being the defacto release. I don't want to step on anyone's toes. But I was able to mod it easily enough, without fear of bricking my laptop due to having an EEPROM programmer :) I don't know who I'd have to talk to, to get permission to post it.

If anyone is interested in my BIOS dump, I can post it. Do note that if you were to flash it directly however, it would overwrite all your BIOS settings, including cpu oc, ram oc, hdd boot drive etc. with mine. Nothing that couldn't be cleared with a reset, though...

Sounds like some other kind of bottleneck, probably somehow your CPU. Or if you've only got a single stick of RAM, that might be it too.
