At last can get my hands on the this P650SE after a long wait. It arrived at my local post office 1 week ago but I got a final exam to take so I had to leave it there until today. That feeling when your beauty was there right before your eyes but you cannot touch it, arrghh :(

My laptop came from One.de and I am quite pleased with it. The screen was not IPS and I could tell the difference from the one on my W230ST right away. Unfortunately my budget is quite tight so I guess I have to make do with this screen for now.

To my surprise, the laptop came with a 7265 Intel wifi card and a fingerprint reader even though it was not advertised on the website (7260 for the Intel card). However I could not figure how to get the fingerprint to work. I installed the fingerprint driver but nothing happened. Have anyone got it to work ?

We don't know that yet. There is no vBIOS mod that lets us clock past the +135MHz limit, and don't know how much voltage is required to meet stock 980m speed. A +135MHz GPU clock and vRAM @ 6000MHz resulted in performance < 10% that of a stock 980m without any voltage bump. It may be possible to reach 980m speeds with stock voltage, and with temps in the low 70's for the most part, should have plenty of headroom for temps. But I'm certain the 980m will blow the 970m OC out of the water with any overclock and the 256-bit bus.

I prefer StartisBack but there's lots of options out there.

Same order! Haha except I won't replace the screen since I will be using external anyway. 19th is the day it arrived at sager facility right?

Also how do I check my current laptop's screen model?

Are there a lot of people on the Dec. 19th waiting bus? Never had a gaming laptop before, and the highest desktop card I've had is a 560 ti. The wait is killing me.

I just installed the driver and then followed the manual : create a password for your account, reboot and set the fingerprint. It's in PC-settings. It's working good for me btw.

Man, the P650SG is so tempting with its price and all at pro-star.com - but I'm forced to look away as they don't offer global warranty. Will have to stick with the P35X or the GS60 in that case, but damn.

Can u check the panel connector with HWinfo64? I hope it is the right one, so i can install a IPS screen myself.

    Thanx :)

None, in Saudi Arabia, I'm afraid!

I've always had to avail the warranty for every notebook I've owned so I guess it's too risky to give in to the temptation.

Bought one clevo when i was in lebanon ^^, no custom or whatsoever. The best thing to do is order from Europe in your case, i ordered from germany back then. Got it in around one week.

hey if you got a 7265 and not a 7260 then maybe i will get a 7265, since it was advertised on the PCspecialist configurator that it's a 7260....

It will have to be 7265 because only 7265 comes as M.2.

Hey Guys how does this sound:

    Clevo P650SE

    - Processeur i7 4710HQ

    - 15"6 Dalle Matte FULLHD (IPS)

    - Carte Graphique GTX 970m 3GO DDR5

    - Mémoire 2X8GO DDR3L 1866Mhz

    - Plextor PX-G256M6e 256GB M.2 SSD ( 770MB/sR | 625MB/sW )

    - Wifi Intel AC 7260

Price is cheaper than all the other resellers I've contacted, the only issue is the IPS screen, can't seem to give me the exact reference for a reason, and the RAM, what should I expect or not?

What are your thoughts regarding the SSD as well? Good or bad?

My XMG P505 got here about an hour ago :D Installing Windows on it now. I already love the form factor of it. It's not super slim, but it still feels pretty small and portable to me. I think the only thing I'm not going to like is the power brick, which is somehow bigger than my previous one! But I can sure as hell live with it for all the power inside this thing.

this vram rampage again. why don't we wait until HT or someone to do a full vram comparison, including actual use vs reserved and then go on a rampage of how you should be paying again?

do you not understand what tight budget means? a couple hundred bucks for 30% power, you can go on with that forever

even with a modded vbios I don't think we can go beyond the 2 25mV voltage steps set by nvidia, but then again that should be plenty if just aiming for stock 980m performance

Well The Evil Within was just released this year by Bethesda and it recommended 4 GB of vram. Regardless if it was poorly optimized, I do think the difference between 3 and 4 GB is an important aspect to consider. I wish Clevo would have used the mxm versions which has 6 and 8 GB because this would become a nonissue.

Regardless, The talk between the 970 v 980 started due to someone complaining about temps and choosing 970 due to the ability to OC and not about budget. Whatever you pick just be sure because the parts are soldered onto the motherboard.

mxm wouldn't have fitted in either chassis. what I don't get is 970m vs 980m isn't like the 860m vs 850m dilemma, in which the latter two do have close gaps, but there's no price gap, and in a lot of cases devices with 860m is cheaper than 850m. there's a clear difference between 970m and 980m in both performance and price, so what else is there to make the decision ambiguous?

At the end of the day even if (and it's a big IF) 4GB memory will not be enough for maximum textures in future games, the fact remains that you're still gonna be able to fit gloriously sharp textures in a VRAM pool that size anyways. Look at Crysis 3, that doesn't need anywhere near 4GB.

So yeah, I'm not worried at all :)

Dunno about MXM, but I think 980M 8GB would have been possible as Gigabyte fit 980M 8GB in the P35xv3.

yeah, well I also can't see anything. Honestly, I really think, that there is no chance to align these parts at 100%. At least not with a decent amount of time. However, I have a Lenovo Notebook here, and there is also a small gap. But none of you guys have seen a "real" problem with the clevo?
Btw. mine is hopefully arriving tomorrow... DHL says it should arrive between 09;00 and 13:00 o'clock.

That or kingston impact are the fastest but decent 1866mhz ram will offer all the performance if you still have other areas such as storage to improve.

I'm confused wether I should buy windows or not.

I already own a legitimate copy of Windows 8 OEM System Builder Kit which I used for my desktop when I first built it. I can't seem to find out anywhere if I can use this same copy on another computer (ie: the P650SG).

If it is possible for me to use on another computer, would there be any problems since then both my desktop and laptop would have the same license key?

OEM System Builder can only be used on one PC at a time, and usually only one PC period, so once you ditch that desktop you need a Windows license.

    Wingnut is correct.

OEM versions of Windows are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:

    - OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel

    - OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on

    - OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

    - OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system

Threw up some new pics. Took some of the outside, had a quick peek on the inside, bottom cover and some quick viewing angles of the 3k screen (WQHD+ / EDP IPS PRO PANASONIC - VVX16T020G00).

I just got mine an hour ago and I have to say that it does seem thicker than I expected, it's still much thinner in practice than my old P157SM.

It's noticeably thicker than my Razer Blade 14 and the MSI Ghost Pro, but it's easily manageable. That front edge where my wrists 'rest' is much nicer on the hand than a Macbook Pro or Razer Blade. I'm still breaking it in, but if I find myself with nothing to do I can see myself going to the effort for a review.

Nice pictures, thanks. So the fans are similar thickness and size, but they added a strip of radiator fins to the bottom of the heat-pipes. That should help cool it a lot.

Now come on Mythlogic update your site with a more definite time hehe, this waiting is killing us. (And yeah I know you are probably waiting to actually get them, or something reasonable like that, still tough waiting on a long pre-order like this.)
