That'd have to be your decision - can you live with a TN screen? Or can you afford, and are you capable of installing, a replacement IPS screen?

Thanks for the tip. Do you know any sellers (US or EU) who propose this panel as an option ?

It's not yet offered by Sager and so no Sager reseller has it listed as of yet. Once available it'll be updated to all reseller sites.

I just ordered from Mythlogic today, the FHD panel, which is TN I'm pretty sure. Maybe I'll upgrade it someday if I feel like it. They said they don't have their shipment in yet and couldn't tell me exactly when it would arrive, so who knows how long it will take. Eurocom is taking pre-orders too I believe. They are the only two that I know of.

I don't know of any resellers or system builders that offer the LTN156HL01. Most that offer an IPS FHD screen seem to be using the AUO B156HAN01.2.

pcspecialist now have stock of the 980M. You can't fast-track yet sadly, but you can place an order with the standard 6-8 day build time. Anyone got one on order with them? If so, when do you expect delivery? :)

Just got below response from mythlogic. Not sure exact model of the screen.

Just an update the new FHD screen on the Dia 1614 w/ 980M is now a FHD IPS matte screen, not a TN

Just ordered M5 Pro (their version of p650SE) from eurocom, gonna replace the HDD and RAM when it arrive, nice thing is that they have 10% discount for student (CAD$149 off), now let the wait began, hope it won't be too long.

It's most likely the LTN156FL02-L01, it uses an RGBW pentile subpixel arrangement and operates at 48Hz. PLS typical response time is 16ms.

Out of curiosity, what components did you order? If you chose the 980M GPU, by consequence you're choosing a Clevo P651S G (not S E) barebones, so the ETA for that option is "beginning of December" as I write this.

MySN seems to have a good reputation here in NBR, I hope you get all those kinks ironed out.

Just go give everyone an update:

    For the Dia 1614 (P650Sx):

The P650SE/SG will have a default FHD IPS Matte Screen (Its AUO)
    The P650SE (970) will have a 4710HQ proc
    The P650SG (980) will have a 4720HQ proc

The only 4K panel we will be offering is the Sharp, unless it simply just doesn't exist anywhere, but even then we'll keep trying. We won't be offering the Sammy panel, as its just not that great, so why offer it?

We will have the Dia 1714 up soon (The 17" cousin)

It'll have a 4720HQ processor on both the SE/SG, and a FHD Matte (TN) 17.3" panel. As there isn't a 17.3" IPS thats electrically compatible.

ETA's are getting pushed back a bit, mostly due to those 4K screens are REALLY hard to get (The sharps)

What is the customer ETA for the FHD model of the 980 version in the us? I understand that the sharp panel is hard to get. I do not know if it is possible, but can you deliver a 980 version with the 4k-compatible cable but with a different screen (FHD for instance)?

So I've got a P650SE (Sager Branded) and Windows 8.1 Professional does not recognize a TPM chip on the machine. There is no option in the Bios to enable or disable it either....does the Sager variant not have a TPM chip like the original Clevo was advertised with?

    That's fantastic news!
You guys did a great job last time I ordered?
Can you tell us what AUO IPS Matte screen you plan to offer?
Will you offer a bigger PSU for the SG or the standard 180W power brick?

Yes we do, we ship anywhere DHL will deliver :p

The cables are screen specific, so no, and the ETA you are looking at for the IPS w/ 980 is mid-december'ish

It'll just be the 180W because the connector is different on the 230, and the IPS will most likely be the AUO B156HAN01.2 or something like it

mythlogic, 4720HQ? Not sure which CPU you're trying to refer too here.. and I think jeanjackstyle is asking if you can include an extra cable for the 4k display, that way they can upgrade to 4k later on. This is probably gonna be a somewhat common request -- I want to do the same thing (can't afford the 4k now/don't want to wait, but want the ability to upgrade eventually).

The 4720HQ is 2.60 - 3.60GHz so slightly faster than the 4710HQ....not much faster but still better than nothing.

That would be great. Most EU resellers I checked already offer the choice regarding the keyboard layout, but I haven't found any US resellers that offer this option. And because of the euro-dollar conversion, I'm planning to buy my laptop overseas. I have friends in the US ;)

MySN.eu just canceled my order placed last week :( "Due to internal security measures" is all their email said and they haven't replied to my email asking for details. I have to say I was really looking forward to ordering from Schenker but now I'm quite disappointed. I was expecting at least an explanation and a few options since I paid 1400€ to them.
    Anyone having similar experiences?

    Nice!
Great to see more resellers offering 1080p IPS options.
Any idea what LG screen it uses and the response time it has?
For that matter does anyone know the response time of the SHARP 4K screen?
It would be great to know exactly what were getting.
    Overall great news :)

iirc the sharp screen sports 25 ms response time

that is really weird... i am sure they have a perfectly good reason for that, seeing as their rep here on the forum is pretty much flawless. give them some time to react to your email, it usually takes them several days to answer :)

Yep. Looks like all our whining helped! :) I'll see if I can find out the model numbers of the upgrade LCD's. I'm impressed though, pretty quick turnaround to source and have product available that quickly.

Lookie here, only $45 upgrade too:

OK my P650SG will be in my hands, worst case in exactly 3 weeks, that's the official ETA+production time+shipping time :).

Normally Pcspecialist told me that they will receive the laptops between 12/2 and 12/9 so between two or three weeks for me to get it :).

(no 4K screens inside, i want my games sharp, not upscaled, and with more than 20 fps please ^^) .

A friend just got his p650SE from a french reseller :
after few hours of BF4 :
    85° C max CPU
    <70°C max GPU !!!!!!!

Limit the FPS to 60, use 'gametime.maxvariablefps 60' in console or create user.cfg with that command in it, and you will see those temps drop 7-10C :)

Nvidia BatteryBoost won't let you. Just use NvidiaInspector or Afterburner. I know it would be nice to have it in Nvidia control panel. Maybe put in a request with Nvidia, and if enough of us do they will do that. I don't see why they couldn't.

Nice! I'm almost disappointed that I didn't wait, now... but then again, it's probably that 35ms response time panel, and I'll probably be happier with the PLS panel, assuming there's no dead pixels, of course.

I had a phone call from PCS yesterday - apparently Clevo is having problems with the 4870HQ processor in the P650SG, so they're not going to be available for the foreseeable future. A change to the 4710HQ was the only option.

In a sense, I don't think this is a bad thing.. Just look at the issues the Gigabyte P35 is having with the 4710HQ and its even worse with the 4860HQ... Honestly, if you feel inhibited with the 4710HQ, you can always get the older clevos with the socketed processors like 4810/4910MQ...
