Yes, I know. But it's only 640 cores, 128-bit mem bus, etc. 780Ms and 980Ms have 2.5x its core count and put out a ridiculous amount more heat, and we both know 980Ms are better for OCing once you add extra VRMs to them (which nVidia "conveniently" left out). Look at 970Ms for the supreme OCing that people did on P650SEs and stuff =D

Not that much better, it only helped for me at the extreme end where it made that 960M look like it was using the same power as a pocket calculator.

Oh, well, haters gonna hate when they see my 860M (also an OCed 960M, because it runs at 1.3 GHz) running GTA V at very high settings while sipping power, or Witcher 3 at high settings. Also, the advantage of having a small, high-res screen: you don't need any much more anti-aliasing than FXAA, or at most MSAA x2, because pixel density outweighs any benefits of higher AA settings.
Hell, I can crank out 1.5 hours of battery life while playing TW3 unplugged.jaybee83 likes this. -

Not really, the only thing it did was stop the card tripping as it approached 1.5ghz core clocks and shutting the system down.

yup, thats exactly what mine does once i reach my power limit clocks. there are no artifacts or the like, it just shuts down / black screens. thermal headroom is totall given, seeing at im having trouble getting my card to 75C
so im betting it would have more oc potential with additional power phases...

The 860M/960M are excellent overclockers. As @octiceps said - you can take them to stock 870M levels. And I haven't had an OC crash on my 860M yet (except on TW3 - but that crashes on all OCed GPUs.

Well feel free to give it a go. It won't hurt if done right.

What about you? Are you ever going back to a monster like a P570WM? Or is your eGPU GS30 working out for you? -

A titan-x at 1485/8000 is fine for me so far, though I am always looking out for something interesting.

The 13" Aorus X3 has also been on the market for some time. Significantly smaller than the Razer Blade, 330(W) x 263.5(D) x 22.9(H) mm / 12.99 in (W) x 10.47 in (D) x 0.90 in (H), and it includes full 6GB VRAM on the 970M.Last edited: Sep 28, 2015 -
Yup ^^^^ , will be at the end of the year. As with other models, you might see pre-orders from some companies pop up earlier. As always, please take the cue of when the larger companies put them up for sale in order to gauge the more accurate availability and shipping dates ;-)

Mythlogic has them up for pre-order, with a mid October ETA YMMV
-
link? i only see 2 17 inch DMs and a 15 inch model on their site...

aaah, weird! when i click on "mobile" it only shows me those three machines, but when i hold the pointer over the mobile section it gives me more options to choose from. i guess theyre still working on the site
hm, u sure its the right one though...? it sports a 15.6 inch screen, rather looks like the P650RE/P650RG series... -

People will likely start to get a little confused as the P6xx range gets expanded.
-
yeah, im already having trouble to discern all the new models *lol*

What are peoples guess-estimate of battery life?
If its 6hrs of wifi use- i'll wait out for it! -
difficult to say, but similar / slightly improved battery life compared to the P6 Sx series with haswell would most probably be the case.
-
Thanks. This proably ends it for me with Gaming latops.
Big moment for me- but guess i prefer not being able to game rather than nOt being able to turn on -

@ycon,
Double post? You just asked that question a short while ago. -
-
I don't suppose we have heard even a rumored release date? I'm looking at buying mid october/early november and looking at the p650 but this one could be just as nice
-
yup yup, should be just in time for the holiday season, so im thinking november-ish

Clevo/Sager don't usually have a long pre-order period before launch.
-
Watching this thread cos I am looking for a 14"!
I like what I am seeing so far, but the lack of a Thunderbolt port is kinda disappointing for me (cos I wanna do eGPU lol) -
Megacharge Custom User Title
I didn't notice any mention of Thunderbolt/USB type-c in the list of specs. This is worrisome for me, as, like the poster above, I want to use an eGPU as well. I hope this will be included in the final build. If not I'll end up stuck with Alienware, sadly.
-
It would seem silly for the P640RE to lack a TB3 port. I can understand the P650 being an established system and having to re-tool manufacturing. But in this case it's a whole new chassis targetted at Skylake. You'd think it would've made the cut.
I guess we'll have to wait until somebody actually sees one. -
There is no USB3.1/TB3 port on this model...

what is this Microsoft Hybrid Graphics thing that i read of in clevo manuals? is it optimus or software control for mux or something different?

This is incredibly disappointing, for this laptop to come so close only to fall flat by missing such an important must-have feature. This should be standard across all their models, it's too important to be missing on any of them.Last edited: Oct 3, 2015
