Seriously, there isn't a thread for that on this board... We respect everyone around here and you're talking to someone who has diametrically opposite views... Keep it to yourself please. Plenty of places you can express your views. This is not a religious board.

No worries about the comments as I said, I am certain people here will know better than I do.

I'd also like to report that this machine has been through multiple airports and used in a demanding environment for a computer and is holding up nicely. I'm obviously taking steps to ensure its safety but even so it is performing admirably given the current environment. Thus, any questions of Sager computers' build quality after 1 month of travel and use can be put to rest. So far, I am 100% satisfied with the computer, but I cannot say I'm entirely surprised because I researched this quite a bit and Sager came out on top.

I am absolutely astounded this runs games as well or better than my desktop.

    Hi guys!
I upgraded to premas bios for my p370sm-a and messed up my raid. Yay. So I had to install win8.1 again and now the hotkey app crashes when opening the console. Something to do with the new EC? Latest hotkey for p370sm-a in clevos site is 3.10.23. Is there a newer one?

I was planning to flash my 980m sli with premas vbios too but I haven't found enough info to do it comfortably..
Should I boot to safe mode and then flash the cards?
Do I need to disable the cards from device manager?
    Thanks!

Hi, no help with the bios/ec issue but I recently tried Prema's vbios.

You have to use the version of nvflash he provides and work in a command prompt window. You do have to disable the cards in device manager and his nvflash prompts a check that you have done this.
The display will drop to 800x600 when you disable the cards so don't be alarmed. He has two batch files you run, one for each card. Simply exit and re-enable the cards before restarting.

It didn't go too well for me as I ended up with a permanent overvolt of his overvolt! Stock is 1.05v, his vbios is (or should have been) 1.062v. I ended up with 1.2v and a machine that would shutdown during an H4 run. I could have probably fixed it in Inspector but wasn't happy that I'd have to do that all the time so I aborted and went back to stock. Seems this was an isolated problem but check it.

I would personally do one card at a time so that if something happens recovery is more easy (run one batch file (primary card), restart, if it's happy flash the second).

All you have to do is double click the .bat files in Windows.
No need for safe mode, command prompt or to disable the driver, nvflash does that for you automatically.

It also won't set your voltage to 1.2v unless you do that yourself... ;)

It uses 1.062v as that is the most common voltage based average ASIC score of sold cards. On stock version 30% default lower or higher...

Yeah I thought about that but decided that since all the people that had tried it did it in one go I didn't want the cards running different settings, so I just open a window, manually backup the original (it has to be disabled to get a copy), and then run the batch files in succession.

Thanks @Prema, didn't know about not disabling! The instructions and on-screen prompt told me to disable. Guess I do have an older version. Probably try again with a fresh copy when the drivers improve a little ;).

Still if there is an issue and you flash both cards you may need another card or someone else's help to recover.

That's very weird about the voltage, I haven't seen 1.2v on any vBIOS so that's very weird.

As for flashing, what I like to do is I just use mnvflash (a special nvflash, it's what I've always used), disable both GPUs, flash 1 at a time and it works perfectly - even in Windows 10, and doesn't reset the resolution or anything like that. I re-enable them after flashing both of them, and I'm good to go (although, I reboot just to be safe after).

I don't know if using mnvflash is bad or whatever, but I had problems with nvflash working before so I just use mnvflash instead and it works fine for me.

Thank you all for your help! I just have to fiddle with the hotkey app.. flashing the bios went smoothly so I don't think flashing it again would help.

The nvflash that comes bundled with the v1.1.1 Mod is my latest modded 5.227 version. It disables the driver on its own...(better don't mix files, use them as they come, as they come like that for a reason). :)

As for Hotkey in W7, check Sagers support pages. Clevos versions are only for W8+

Flashed both cards separately and everything went a-OK! Got the hotkey-app to work too. Installed new nvidia drivers and 3.5 .net framework. Now to wait the win10 update and hope everything works with that OS too :) and to start more vigorous testing. Thanks again for all, this forum is the best! And thank You Prema for your help and hard work! I'll avert my charity funds from stray hobos with special needs your way :D

Okay I am looking for a converter that converts a mSata drive to a 2.5 SATA 3.0 that would work well inside this laptop, I have seen lots of them on amazon and ebay but I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with one so that I know I get one that will fit correctly thanks guys

    Hello everyone,
I've just become a happy owner of a brand new P377SM-A brarebone. Since it it is a barebone I'm in search of the other pieces of the puzzle.
The biggest question is: Can I install 880M from Dell? I understand that the blind flash will be required but is it possible to fire it up and force the re-flash.
Those card came very cheep here. (new for $250).

    Hi, congrats!

Unless someone else knows better I don't believe you will need to flash at all for them to work. AFAIK the bios does not care what vendor is reported by the card. As long as you know why they are so cheap (short run, never made desktop, throttling and overheating) then you should be fine ;).

As far as I know Svl7 unlocked vBios got rid of the throttling. I've red somewhere that it was related to the turbo mode. Since this one was disable permanently problem was partially cured. Since 880m is a overclocked 780m I'm ok. Where I live Dell is much more common notebook than any Clevo. Other think is that 780m is in almost $100 more expensive. I think 880m have the best $ to power ratio. Since SLI comes for $500 new compare to 970m ($630) and 980m ($920) this price is a bargain.

BTW. I'm was surprised that the graphic card can be much more expensive that the barebone. (mine was $738).

    Hi all,

I gave the Prema vbios another try last night, only this time I used his V1.0 and not the v1.1. The only difference I could see in the notes was that 1.1 supports gsync panels.

My voltage was good this time at 1.062v and the base clock/boost were at stock (1038/1126) so it was looking good. Also no voltage differential between the cards.

I used H4 to test it and all went well up to +100mhz. At +135 the horrible crash happened again as it did in my previous tests. Screen goes blank then it starts a continual beeping requiring a forced power down.

I also tried the stock fan profile just to check out the 86c throttle. Still there, not a full blown P state change but... At that temp the boost starts to step down around 30mhz at a time over around 30 seconds. I waited to see if it would go below the stock base speed of 1038mhz and it did. Once I saw 1000mhz I put the fans to max and at 83c it started to climb back up to 1126mhz. Dunno about that but I'll probably stay with it as I like the extra few mv and card matching (and no game I have runs more than mid 70's C anyway).

    HTH

Edit: I also HAD to disable the cards otherwise the flash failed. Download was directly from Prema's site and used the nvflash/batch files included.

Thanks, that (boost problem) makes perfect sense as I did try the svl7 vbios in my 980m and saw that boost was disabled. The problem I had was that he set the base clock above the stock boost at 12xxmhz (can't remember exact clock) and I found that a run of H4 with no overclocking would cause a TDR. Almost certainly the crap NV drivers but I do want to game without messing so I dumped that one.

Since the card got such a bad rep you could grab a bargain, you have researched it so go in with open-eyes! good luck

The current version is v1.1.1 (that's also the one with the latest automatic nvflash). Older versions throttle at lower temps and had some other bugs.
New version will make full use of your automatic FAN profiles (spin higher before temp throttle), so not so much need for manual full FAN mode unless for benching maybe...

Yup, fully automatic driver stop and re-enable, clock went to the max boost number of 1126mhz (although I briefly saw 1236mhz) and stayed through the H4 bench. I left the fans on auto and they did step up but not until 89c and sounded like one notch from full blast. I waited to see how far it would drop but then it crashed again. A hard lock with blank screen but this time no beeping. I restarted and tried again with max fan and +100mhz. All good and temp stabilized at 84c

I think I may have borderline VRM's or that brief spell on 1.2v hurt them so I'm happy right now that it no longer throttles.

Thanks again. another small donation winging your way :D.

OK so I can fairly assume that a Dell card will fire-up at least to the point where I could be able to re-flash it.
New bios and vbios is already preprepared on auto-flash bootable USB.
    I'll keep You posted.

I did read that you cannot flash the maxwell cards from DOS so you may not be able to do that. You'll still want the bootable USB for the bios but you'll need to load windows and use the nvflash prema supplies with the vbios.

I'm aware of that. However I was referring to gtx 880m which is not a maxwell card. So standard or blind flash/backup should be possible.
Maybe this is funny but I prefer an old fashioned DOS vbios re-flash. If it's possible of course.
