Just wanted to post some pictures of our exclusive BIOS so you can see some differences :) All the new options and menu's are NOT part of the stock Clevo BIOS, there's quite a bit of tuning that can be done :)

This is the same BIOS that we use on the P150/P151/P157/P170/P177

    Advanced Menu:

    Security Menu:

Advanced Menu -> HDD Password: (Setting a password enabled self encrypting drives that support it)

Boot Menu -> OS Select / UEFI PXE Support: (You can set UEFI boot without setting windows 8 mode so you can UEFI boot any OS that supports it)

We'll be more than happy to answer any questions about these :)

There is a P170SM also that has the traditional conservative design. The "bling free" edition. :p

That would be great, I wouldn't want to walk around with this thing :D

But I'm still more inclined towards the more compacted 13" version. Hopefully I won't be disappointed!

The P170SM is going to be behind a few days as Clevo launched the P177SM first with the more traditional look second

EDIT: We got some in early =)

Bummer, guess I'll sit tight if it's only going to be a few days though, since I'd prefer to be bling-free.

I assume the pricing will be basically identical, so I can keep attempting to build the perfect config with the 177 as my wallet gets itchier and itchier? :)

(thanks for all the weekend responses, btw)

Very nice, tnx Meaker) I was doubting cause only P375SM model on Sager website lists 2 Msata ssd with RAID possible (2+2), while others don't (2+1)

I can't tell much from the images of the P170SM. What exactly does de-blinged mean? It would suck if de-blinged meant that capability has also been reduced.

The Bling version affectionately refers to the illuminated touchpad on the 157SM model which the 150SM model lacks. The other difference is the 150 has on HDD bay where as the 157SM has two with the second being able to fit only full SSDs into.

This is for the 1 57SM vs 1 50SM ? Is it also true of the 1 77SM vs 1 70SM too? Or is this also dependent on who you purchase from like 1 versus 2 mSATA ports?

Oh yeah, thought I was posting in the 15er thread. but that's the same thing. 170sm is going to have a normal track pad. 177SM will be illuminated. Sager will be offering both the 170 and 177SM versions and should have it up before too long. Every 170SM based model will be identical if you but it from one place vs another and the same for the 177SM. As long as the base system is the same the upgrade potential is the same for everyone.

It seems Sager opted for reduced capability choosing 1 mSATA port while 2 ports were available. You will have to find a Clevo builder that offers that. From a quick search, so far, I believe, it's Mythlogic and Origin in the US. Not all models are available from all sellers yet.

It's a bit confusing. It's nice to have more choices but.... So, you will selling models with 2 mSATA ports but not now? Perhaps, I missed it on the Xotic site. I'll look again.

EDIT: Checked the config on Xotic for the 177SM no (170SM yet) one mSATA. I even selected one to see if mSATA (Slot 2) would come up but it didn't. ((

It's not up yet, it's not currently available from Sager. The 170SM model will be called the 8270, the 8290 is the one on the site now and based off the 177SM chassis, and Sager should have it available before too long at which time it'll be updated to our site as well.

Yes, I edited my message about no 8270 (P170SM) yet, But to clarify, the 8290 now has ONE mSATA. Will that change to TWO mSATA ports for Sager or Xotic? It's not in yet but what about the 8270? The P177SM and P170SM (under yet another name XD) both are available now with TWO mSATA.

What Bullrun is wondering (correct me if I'm wrong), is why Sager's machines are only showing a single mSATA port, while others who are selling the same machine have the option for two of them. I just noticed that myself and am also curious.

I was actually looking to get confirmation on this before posting but it actually looks like our website is incorrect with the Msata options and it does indeed have two Msata on the 177SM model. I've forwarded this along to be fixed once confirmed with Sager but according to their site they list with two Msata as well.

Maybe the other slot is being used by the network card and that's why the slot isn't listed for storage.

    No, that's under the keyboard.

I believe it's a typo since the last model had one.

Yes, Kevin, you understood correctly. On the Clevo site it lists two mSATA slots.

    "Three Mini Card slots
-1st  for WLAN Combo Half size Mini Card with PCIe and USB interface
-2nd for mSATA SSD Full size Mini Card with SATA interface
-3rd for mSATA SSD Full size Mini Card with SATA interface"

It does say factory option under storage (but maybe that is just the drives). The Sager resellers, not just Xotic, LPC too, list one slot and in the OP it shows only one. Mythlogic lists two slots and Origin as well. My vendor choice would have been very small if this is or was true. XD

I just checked Sager's site ONE mSATA on the 8290 the options are for OS Drive or Storage Drive. It does not say Slot 1. What gives? So, the other models 150, 157, 151... how many mSATA for Sagers how many for Builders, care to guess?

Hopefully just an error! The 9390, they got right.

We base those specs off what is provided to us as the official specs by Sager. Likely just a typo on the sheet we were all provided. I have our web guy confirming the options with Sager and it'll be corrected before too long. We're kind of working him to the bone right now with all these new models from all the manufacturers.

Hey all, just got the update from Sager regarding the second Msata. It is present but right now it's proven to be unstable, the email we received made it seem that this was an issue on the Clevo side of things so should affect all units, and it concerns the possibility of dropped data connection. It's something that's being worked on and fixable in a future update, but as of right now the configurations are only being offered as a single Msata configuration in light of this. Hopefully that clears up some of the mystery for you folks.

You don't use a Momentus XT for a storage drive. That's wasted money.

Also, just a personal preference, but I'd go for the 72% Matte, if upgrading the screen.

Is the hybrid drive too fast for storage?

Also, what about the matte display do you like? Aren't there gaming issues with matte displays?

I think it simply came down to Mythlogic offering the faster memory. I don't think XoticPC is offering the Sager 8270 with anything faster than 1600Mhz.

I'm also looking at the Nyx 1713 Black. But my thinking is the 840 Pro SSD for OS and apps, better performance than mSATA. Then using those mSATA bays for future storage. Also adding the Hitachi 7200 1TB HDD ($89 at Newegg) in the second drive bay for data. Or possibly sending that Hitachi to the ODD in the future as money allows adding a big SSD (m500 960GB).

Also, I will choose Intel wireless. I read some negative reviews in the Clevo/Sager forum about Bigfoot/Killer failing. The base Intel 7260-AC supports Bluetooth and the AC Band (a little future proofing) vs the Killer 1202 Bluetooth and N Band.

The one negative about the Nyx 1713-Black (170SM) versus the Nyx 1713 (177SM) is the base 765m vs the base 770m for about the same starting price, only $5 more. Almost have to buy the "bling" despite the preference for subdued.

hello guys, I would like to install two m-sata intel sdd m-525 120gb in raid 0 on my p170sm, where I can see the point where they are? One of the mSATA slots is located under the space for the primary 2.5-inch hard drive...but the second?

Sorry, this brings more questions. So, the second mSATA slot is there physically but not usable, not connected in the BIOS? Or it won't be usable for current Sagers, period? Until Clevo fixes it with a hardware or software update? So that future Sager models will have TWO fully functional mSATA slots?
Essentially, if I buy a Sager today will my model NP8270, NP8290, NP8250, NP8230, (not yet released NP**** (P150SM), NP7330) have TWO fully functional mSATA slots after the Clevo fix?

The 9390 is being advertised as having TWO mSATA slots. This model is unaffected?
