The battery life estimate on xotic is 2-3 hours, which seems quite low. However, the $100 670m->675m upgrade looks solid and overall this laptop seems great :) Now just got to wait for Ivy Bridge.

Did the mSATA (second mini slot) make its way onto any of these new models?

That $100 upgrade to the 675 is tempting, but it's seriously on the border of my budget then. Are there any comparisons between the 580 and 570 (because the 670 and 675 are straight rebrands) out there?

Definitely worth the upgrade, the 675m is stated to be 4-5% performance increase over 580m.

Although if you can't afford it I heard the 570m can over clock very well, and the 670m is already bumped up some.a

GTX675M performs EXACTLY the same as GTX580M with the same drivers :)
Some French resellers said that the 675M would run cooler than the 580M but I highly doubt it. If anyone could confirm ?

Also got the 1st review of the P150EM/9150 here:
Test Schenker XMG P502 PRO Gaming Notebook - Notebookcheck.com Tests

From what I read thru, I can tell:
    Pros:
    - Beautiful matte screen, very bright !
    - Nice touchpad and back-lit keyboard
    - Battery life much enhanced with Optimus
    - Speakers and sounds much improved too (Onkyo speakers)
    - Very nice performances, 675M is exactly alike 580M

    Cons:
    - It gets hot inside (CPU and GPU), was expecte though as this is a similar layout to the P150HM. The barebone gets a bit warm too.
    - Very noisy, even noisier than GT780 with Turbo boost ON - Also we can read that the fans are always running even @ idle (didn't they correct the EC temps trip?) so similar issues as before (basically it's never quiet)

Otherwise great design, really like it ! Still tortured with the GT 60 though..

pau1ow, did the review mention that the EM was hotter and noisier than the HM? Or just hot and noisy in general?

I demand +rep for this. Here are the numbers:

    1.) P150EM noise
    Idle 34.5 / 34.5 / 38.9 dB
    HDD 34.5 dB
    DVD 37.8 / dB
Last (under load in german) 47.9 / 53.6 dB

    2.) P150HM noise
    Idle 32.1 / 32.1 / 35.2 dB
    HDD 33.0 dB
    DVD 38.6 / dB
Last (under load in german) 45.2 / 45.2 dB

P.S. NOTE! Anything above 50 decibels is CLEARLY audible and can **** you off if you listen to it for long enough! In fact, its louder than some laptop speakers. Here is your "shredder-book" that will get you kicked out of the room if someone sleeps in it.

Wow. My friend and I are considering these laptops for school, but if we can't take them to class/library/have them in the dorms without bothering sleeping people, they might be a no-go.

Hopefully the P170EM isn't quite so loud.

Just wait and see with Ivy Bridge and AMD 7970M. Not only will it be quiet, but it will be more powerful at the same price (or less!!!).

    It's not to bad...
better then asus G series. I have g50vt 3.5 years old that -as a new- had louder volumes then that and it's still, this day, is hardley audible over night.
can get better but it's not a deal breaker.

But, if we take out the DVD and HDD instead use SSD only it won't be so noisy. Or I'm I wrong?
For me, the epoc of DVD and HDD is over and if I want to move forward I would choose only to work with SSD even if they are more expensive.

We don't need any more DVD to install windows or any other programs. If in some accident I drop my laptop I won't worry if it use SSD but if it's HDD, wow danger, all data may be lost. There many more advantages to use SSD than HDD and DVD, even if it's more expensive.

Other thing, I'm sure that in near future all games will came in USB memory instead in DVD discs.

What would be the expected performance difference between the 670M and 675M? I can understand why some people would want it, but is it necessary for smooth gaming?

Even with the i7 2920XM (with a raised max TDP) I do not have 90 C for the CPU.
Probably the guys from MySn gave too thick thermopad for the power section of the CPU, the CPU core does not adhere properly to the heatsink and it was not properly cooled. Hence the increased acoustic noise.

I asked the same question and mythlogic was quick to respond with:

    - Different Finish (Not Rubberized just plastic)
    - No backlit keyboard
    - Smaller AC Adapter

Thanks for the info. Now, I'll need to find a retailer like yourself who will sell a laptop with the Samsung PM830 SATA 3 256GB mSATA as an option. I don't think it will take advantage of the SATA 3 connector.

Grrrr, I can't check these because my 3ds can't play video. Can anyone tell me if the last review's reseller just botched the cooling, or if we have a serious problem with the design?

Hey guys. My laptop just died and am contemplating getting a sager/Clevo. I'm not very familiar with the brand but am looking for a 15.6 inch model. I take it this is the latest model? The only places I see to order from allow for customization. I kind of need a laptop this week...is this possible or do i have to wait a couple weeks for a build to be assembled?

Looking to get my first hi-end laptop my 3 year old toshiba literally went up in smoke yesterday good timing i guess. I'm a java programmer but don't play any video games or anything like that. I was looking at the following laptop

    Lotus P150EM-SE
    Lotus P150EM - MALIBAL

Which is about 200 bucks cheaper (before configuring) than the Lotus P150EM but when i compared them what was shown was identical on both machines? What's with the price difference?

I noticed in extras that there was an option for a backlit keyboard on the P150EM but not on the SE version but i'm seeing signs that the SE also has the backlit keyboard which is something i would really like.

Anyway main two questions are does the SE have a backlit keyboard and what's with the price difference?

P150EM is like the old P151HM no backlit key but for what I see now it is posible to config

p.p. sorry I didn't see option for backlit keys in EXTRAS

and P150EM SE is the P150HM

You have it backwards... the SE is the one with the backlit keyboard. The SE also has a rubberized casing compared to the plastic casing on the standard P150EM. The SE also has a 180W PSU, which supports the higher GPUs & CPUs - like the 675M and 2960XM.

well i just looked at the video and i gotta say its too big/bulky for me to carry around at college. im not expecting zenbook thicknes but this is too much. Also, I would expect the cooling to be great but if it makes that much noise.... I have to pass this laptop up. Maybe the next time im looking for alptop :p goodluck to people that buy this!

I do like the pm830 for its 256GB option. 120/125GB would be a tight squeeze for my future setup. Like the others here, I'm waiting for Ivy Bridge to be released. Do you think you will have the Samsung PM830 SATA 3 256GB mSATA SSD before Aug 2012?

Ha sorry about that i do have it backwards so the standard one doesn't have the backlit keyboard :( that's unfortunate was hoping to get out a little cheaper but that is something i would really like since i live in a dorm and my room mate goes to bed at a normal time while i'm up coding till 5am :) I can touch type obviously but the backlit keyboard just makes things easier for those obscure keys that i never use often

Looking to get a 15 inch with i7-2670QM, 8gbs of ram, 750gb hdd and backlit keyboard damn graphics card is just driving my price up ha don't need that at all

Just noticed it. Two things striked me.

One- how could one make such a mistake?
Two- whats up with the terrible video quality, would imagine they could take their time and show something of such a high quality with something of high quality... my god.

I'm looking forward with how the Linux community will deal with all these new laptops coming out with Optimus.

I know you might need to turn off one of the video cards to get it running smoothly for now.

Hmm, I have to ask why the Chimei is still considered as one of the options,

when the Dell Precision lines have labelled the Chimei AG screen as the worst display and does not meet the quality to be part of a business class machine.

Has no one noticed the extra graininess on the Chi-Mei for the P170HM?

I ask because all users with the ChiMei screens have been granted a swap out with an LG or AUO, but there seems to be no problems on the Sager/Clevo lounge.

Good Question. I was unaware about the display's quality. Is there anyone who can give some more input. Maybe I'll be changing my display options before I go ahead and deposit the money tomorrow
