The reseller thinks a new bios is about to come... I have to wait...
But now I got a bigger problem, in gaming after 5 min in and at about 76-78 C vga/cpu the sound gets distorted a lot... and keeps it after quitting the game to Windows , the dirtorcion ends when the temps are as low as 50-55 C... tested with overwatch, destiny2 and Fortnite.... happens with all this 3 games....

I am realy disapointed with this machine....

Speak to your reseller about it, perhaps something else is going on here. You can try getting your sound drivers re-installed of course.

I will , but it doesn’t seems to be driver fixable, the card heats up and freaks out... when cools down to 50c it’s ok again....
I will try with a external card tomorrow..

It could be a bad capacitor or something similar or a bad solder joint on a hardware level.

To me that sounds like the common behavior when you use too much undervolt.
I had that happen on almost ALL units... sound distortion JUST LIKE THAT when i have too much undervolt.
And yeah... usually it only starts after i push it hard for some time... and usually only a restart fixes it.

    Hello,
I found the problem for the brightness not working, it was the windows 1803 version, I was installing the last win10_1803 ISO, after I install the 1709 version brightness worked (but control center is mandatory for brightness), and after updating to 1803 it kept working.
Now about the sound problem, it never happened again... I was undervolting with ThrottleStop an now I use iXTU, the same values used in ThrottleStop.
    The XTU script is this:
    Code:
    $status = get-service -name "XTU3SERVICE" | Select-Object {$_.status} | format-wide
    if ($status -ne "Running") { start-service -name "XTU3SERVICE"}
    & 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\Client\XTUCli.exe' -t -id 34 -v -150
    & 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\Client\XTUCli.exe' -t -id 79 -v -150
    & 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\Client\XTUCli.exe' -t -id 48 -v 40
    & 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\Client\XTUCli.exe' -t -id 47 -v 55
    & 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\Client\XTUCli.exe' -t -id 83 -v -80
    sleep 4
    stop-process -id $PID -force
    thanks....

So heavily considering this Clevo for my next laptop. Any new reviews been spotted in the wild or on here?

Also anyone from the manufacturers mind telling me their thoughts on the 120 hz vs 144 hz panels? Brightness matters to me.

    Lastly, still no Thunderbolt?

    Hey guys,

Long time no see, but I got back to Clevo recently, like yesterday. I jut got a P950 with i7 8750h, gtx 1060 and ever since I installed windows and necessary drivers, the cpu is always running at max speeds and the fan is close to unbearable.
It's like it doesnt clock down. Even on battery with the cpu clocked @ ~1.5ghz the fan is full on (according to control center running at 4k rpm). (while plugged in, the cpu is clocked non stop at 4ghz).
I enabled speed shift in bios and also installed the speedshift driver from clevo website.
Any tips what I should check to calm down the fans?

LE: Can someone tell me what the OFFSET option, in Control Center, does? It's in the fan speed setting area.

Have you tried different Power Modes to see if the CPU clocks down?
Are you running any other CPU Tuning tool?
Have you tried going to BIOS and doing a Load Setup Defaults?
CC2.0 should have minimal fan modes, but one of them is Manual which should allow you to tune it to a certain point.

In power options there is only one power plan available, balanced mode. (min proc 5%, max 100%).
No other cpu tuning tool running.
Tried with default settings in bios and same behaviour.
When plugged in, the cpu is running at max clock speeds (guess that is why the fan is also at max).

If you are on older versions of windows you can expand "show other plans". Otherwise you can go into "create a power plan" and create one based off the 3 presets.

To clock down the cpu I can indeed create a custom power plan, based on one of the 3 presets, but that just limits the max clock of the cpu, at which it still runs. It does not clock down no matter what. If i set max cpu @ 99% it will clock at 2.1ghz and stay there no matter the load. (it seems to disable turbo also). If I let it @ 100% max cpu it will stay @ 4.1 while running single core tasks and 3.9 while more cores are loaded, even if it's 1% or 99% load.
I presume I am running the only version of bios available for this model as I have not found any other.
Also I have tried with older drivers (chipset and such), newer ones, drivers only from the cd I got with the laptop, drivers from windows update and still nothing.
Any more tips on what is going on and what I can do about it?

Also, at the moment speedshift is enabled in bios and the speedshift driver from clevo is installed (have tried without them and same outcome).

So after I have tried pretty much anything I think of I come to the conclusion that something is faulty at either bios level or hardware.

I have tried with minimal hardware connected (no sata ssd, no 3g modem, no wifi), with pretty much every version of drivers or combination of drivers (from clevo website and the cd that came with the unit, and online latest versions), with different releases of windows 10, either connected or not connected to the internet, core zero always, and I mean always, stays clocked at max speeds and under load.

    What to do next? [IMG]

Use the balanced profile as a preset, make sure nothing background is loading the CPU (your screenshot shows a load). If it will still not clock down then there could be an issue.

Just wanted to "bump" this one. Hoping maybe someone knows of a review I haven't seen (either here, youtube, wherever really) as this seems to be the default laptop for Clevo at the moment.

The load is coming from system interrupts. After using latency monitor to try to identify the culprit driver it's either ndis.sys, ntoskrnl, wdf01000, hdaudbus, storport. It's a damn combination of everything with nothing. I have tried all possible versions of drivers and hardware combinations (took out the wifi card, the nvme drive, the sata drive, the modem, etc) and system interrupts is always putting a mild load on the system 3-5% , but it's all on core zero and therefor it does not clock down , be it plugged in or battery running.
What are the odds that this is a hardware failure?

Just wanna pitch in that I'm having the same "system interrupts" problem as @myx. Bought mine from PCSpecialist, and this bug happened after it came back to me from another RMA where I had some keys not working. I also can't adjust the brightness if the PC is booted/taken from sleep with an external monitor set as main display. PCSpecialist has been kind enough to offer me a swap for a different model though, so I think I'll go for the Tongfang-GK5CN6Z(Recoil 2 by PCS branding). It's a shame since it's one of the thinnest laptop of its kind and the fingerprint reader is pretty nice to have :(

I have a feeling this is a BIOS problem though since PCS did update my BIOS and I didn't have this issue before the first RMA.

Mine was also from pc specialist and it was replaced with another unit. Seems to be working OK, for the last week at least since I received it back.

That's what your reseller is there for in the end, especially if you have gone through all the testing.

It's down to the reseller, each place is going to be responsible for firmware and support so in a way it's more important who you are ordering from.

Resale value is not as relevant as how long the system will remain relevant for what you're doing with it. If you go with a higher GPU it should be because you need it for your current use, or you want the system to support new games for longer.

I guess if you get technical it can be but if you consider how fast technology advances it's better not to think of it that way.

Thanks everybody!!, I am now a proud owner of a P950EP6 with the GTX-1060 :)

I am now trying to undervolt it, never done that before and using: https://www.notebookcheck.net/How-t...ife-The-ThrottleStop-Guide-2017.213140.0.html as a guide.

They say that GPU can safely be undervolted 50mV. But when I go to "FIVR" > "Intel GPU", the "Offset Voltage" is already set to 99.6 mV...

    - Is that 99.6 to be expected or some mistake from the seller and really too high and maybe even danger of damaging something?
    - If correct, should I thus undervolt to (99.6-50)=+49.6, or I can just set the value to -50?

(I'm not even sure which GPU it is, I suppose the Intel UHD and not the GTX-1060?)

Unless you are loading the igp and using it directly the igp voltage won't make a difference.

    Thanks,I'll leave it default then!

I'm happy now with cpu performance and temperature, I tuned and tested with throttlestop and tested also with prime95 and furmark cpu burner.

Now I want to tune GTX-1060 and did a benchmark to get the current base values. I'm not sure but it seems underperforming (a lot). I ran furmark GPU stress test, fullscreen, 1920x1080, and get an fps of only 62 and temp. of the GPU doesn't get above 64 degrees celsius. I let NVIDIA Experience install the latest drivers but that didn't help. Perhaps someone knows if it is indeed underperforming, and how it can be solved in that case?

Furmark is not a benchmarking tool and should not be run on notebooks.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm completely new to this, I read that furmark is not a good benchmark test as well by now.

But I just run 3dmark time spy test, and it gets a score of 3661 for the GPU. When comparing to similar GPU's on their website, that 3661 is about half of what it should be. I'm sure it can be improved, just don't know how yet :(

edit: looking at https://www.notebookcheck.net/GeFor...orce-GTX-1060-Desktop_7362_7336.247598.0.html my system runs pretty good, so all seems fine after all :)

Hi, I do have a question about the latest BIOS avilable for the P95xEPER series, which apparentely is 1.07.06. I've been looking through the packages provided by different resellers: within all of them there's only the ME/BIOS, no sign of a matching EC. This means that by flashing such version, we'll end up with BIOS 1.07.06 and EC 1.05.02... Isn't that a mismatch? Wouldn't that cause issues? I've already contacted my reseller though they they haven't replied yet, so I was wondering whether one of you guys @Prema @Meaker@Sager @XMG @Support.3@XOTIC PC @John@OBSIDIAN-PC can shed some light on this? By the way, my reseller uses stock bioses, the same that Clevo officially provides.

The EC will only be included if it needs to be. The bios and ec version numbers don't need to match.

Thank you so much for your fast reply, I thought the milestone and major versions had to match (e.g. BIOS 1.07.06 and EC 1.07.04). Thanks for the clarification.

All sellers have simultaneously stopped offering P955EP6 and P955ER.
P955ET1 and P955ET3 (with Quadro) are still available.
