I have a couple of questions about the support for this model, as offered by XoticPC...

The first two support options are listed as:

    1. 3 Year Labor 1 Year Parts, Lifetime Sager Toll Free Tech Support
    2. 1 Year Parts & Labor, Lifetime XOTIC PC 24/7 Toll Free Telephone Tech Support

Is the 3 Year Labor and 1 Year parts in the 1st option from Sager or Xotic? What about the parts/labor in the second option? Does Xotic offer any additional support (Labor/Parts/Telephone) in addition to what is listed in these options?

Hello BigMadS, the 3 Year Labor Warranty is provided by Xotic PC. I am sorry I do not know what option you are referring to. We do offer upgrades in parts/labor warranties on our website. Please feel free to email or PM me with any additional questions and I would be happy to answer them for you. :)

@Justin: Your website's warranty choices are just very confusing. It looks like as you "upgrade" you lose certain warranty features. I'm assuming that's a typo or something....

Like other notebook companies, Sager does not use a specific brand of hard drive/RAM/screen/DVD, etc. It is whatever they have in stock.

My NP5125 review unit has a Seagate hard drive. The monitor reads as "HSD06A5" in the device manager.

wait, so does that mean that lets say 2 people buy the NP5125, one person could have kingston memory for example, while the next person could have patriot? purely as an example, thats kinda worrying IMO since some brands are more reliable than others and creates performance/reliability differences from the exact same laptop between diff people. that is if i understood you correctly.

Sager users brands they certify for the machine. Hard Drives are usually the same depending on size and speed.(Seagate, WD, Intel etc.) For Example 500GB 7200 is Seagate, RAM is Major Brand that has been certified for the machine. Obviously CPU's are always Intel Genuine Processors, never Engineering Samples.

Can anyone tell me what type of charging port is on the computer? Is it the same as msi or Sony or other major brand? Bought a great external battery to extend this computers battery life by 4-6 hours when on the go and it has different connectors but I need to see if it will match saver since it was not specified it has connector. Fits all other major brands

Clevo uses their own port on the computer. However most manufacturers use a similar port. Normally one from a ASUS or MSI should be similar to it. Since this a custom application you will unfortunately have to try it out and see if it works. Make sure to report back on what you have found. :)

Ok, so I'm grabin barbones for my wifey's brother for his college laptop and desktop replacement. This is all the kid can afford and I hope it'll b good for him for next 3yrs.

    Question.....
For casual gaming fps's, fifa series and nfs series, some office and school work which cpu would be good bet ? I'm not familiar with i5/7 series cpu's, price difference between them is not so big.

I would go with the i5-520M since he is on a budget, and it gives very good performance for its cheap price. It should not be a problem with what he needs to do.

Assuming resellers just pass on the custom configuration orders to Sager and reseller ships the laptop to consumer.
Then the consumer will not have any clue to know the brand/makes of the internal components going to be used in his/her machine.

Is there a way someone can place the order to reseller like XoticPC for specific brand/make ?

If the brands of the components are part of the inventoried items, you bet. Your best to email in for these kind of questions and we can get more detailed information for you. :)

If you, like me, have been searching for portable power to extend battery life, recharge laptop, phone ect on the go with ease invest in this.....

    Xpal xp18000 power pack
    Specifications on box are
    Power capacity: 18000mAh
    Battery Cell: lithium polymer
    Rated input: dc 19v
    Rated output: dc 5v-1000 mA
    10.5v - 2000 mA
    19v - 3500 mA
    Dimensions: 7.1L - 4.3W - 0.8H inches
    18L - 10.9W - 2H centimeters
    Weight: 18.2 oz/ 516g

This is great! It can add up to 6 hours to laptop battery and is roughly the size of an external hard drive so easily carryable in laptop bag or backpack. Unit is charged through removable dc cord.

I'll report on actual times and performance once I test it out.

those are the specs on the power pac, and i confirmed that it is the corercet output voltage(19V) for the laptop and does indeed come with a compatible connector. I would recomend this product to any resellers who are looking to widen stock or satisfy the power hungry gamers who avoid laptops because of battery life. This external battery plus internal could even power thos monsters. BUt anywho.....Ill get back to you all with how long it actually extends life for the NP5125 specifically! Charges via wall outlet by the way.

The base i5-450M is fine. I would make sure you have 4GB of RAM and a 7200RPM hard drive. I also highly recommend the 1080p screen - it looks great and offers lots of screen real estate, improving multi-tasking and readability.

A 2- or 3-yr warranty might not be a bad idea either.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I'm getting more and more excited every day for mine. Although I'm questioning the wisdom of going with the 620m now. Hopefully my battery won't be too bad. And the Hybrid drive will eat battery too probably. Oh well. That's what the 62.16Wh battery is for when it comes out.

Sumik sorry for the late reply currently at work.
The memory I used for my barebones was
    Patriot PSD34G10662S 4GB PC3-8500 1066MHZ CL7
Used two sticks for 8GB total runs like a champ. :)

Need to order AntiVirus software, does Norton suck up a lot of CPU, and will it effect starcraft 2 gameplay or performance? Doesn't impede the computer while providing protection.

    Talking about Norton 4.0 360

8GB of RAM is a bit of overkill for many people, but if you're doing HD video editing or 3D rendering it comes in handy.

if ud like to the opinions of many experienced security software users u can check Wilders Security Forums - Powered by vBulletin forum, great advice can be found their.

but to summarize, norton is a relatively light program that should not hinder system performance very much, but in my own experience as well as many others, Avast is the ultimate AV for people wanting top system performance out of an AV (ESET is a close 2nd)

I see on Clevo's site the B5100M has 2 mini card slots. 1 for wlan and the other is USB interface. Is that the USB 3.0 interface or is this 2nd slot just not soldered to the mobo?? Just wondering about the possibility of using (even if it requires modding) that 2nd slot.
The Sager specs don't list that 2nd slot.

And I know there is virtually no demand for this but wish I could somehow add the modem that is a factory option on the Clevo specs. I do on occasion use dialup for remote administration purposes. Ya it sucks but, its the only way we are allowed to do it.

Neither of these are a deal breaker, just "thinking" out loud.

And I too recommend staying far far away from Norton Antivirus and McAfee.
Norton is a resource vacuum, imo.

Man this external battery is great, with it, the regular battery and extended life i could have a close to 10 hour battery life

I got to look into that external battery. Something else to add to the list.

I'm thinking of getting the 5125, can anyone recommend a config?

    - Play 720p MKVs without any stuttering
    - Occasional gaming (Starcraft 2, L4D2)

I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with a config that doesn't have the i7 to save some money.

You won't need the i7 for gaming .. in fact fewer cores and higher clocks are generally better for gaming at this point. I don't think you'll have any problem with HD video either. Just be damn sure to get the 1080p screen ... anything less would be uncivilized.
