Hi. Mine is on order and while there are several reviews about the following, I'd like to hear your impressions on:

    Where you ordered from
    Build quality
    Fan noise
Screen quality - I ordered same screen
    Any issues finding drivers

    Thanks

The more reviews the better, always good to hear another users perspective.

Very nice! One other thing, some comparison shots with the sager and another 15" laptop (if you have one that is) would be great.

Yeah I think he means a 3G module. Spoonzie, have you tried connecting to your phone to use the internet that way when out and about?

Tethering (what you're talking about, Pommie) is, imo, expensive, slow and pointless, even if you have an unlimited data plan, which is becoming rarer and rarer these days.

A 3G module would be better.

Don't see why it's pointless? Sure, it's slow, but it's only limited by the speed of the cellular network so getting a 3G module won't make it go any faster.

True....guess I was thinking in terms of gaming, since people are often asking about that. It should be fine for web surfing, right?

Depends on the carrier. An integrated 3G chipset wouldn't be any better than a tethered phone with 3G - they use the same carrier.

If you're lucky enough to have a 4G phone with tethering though, you could be getting 20Mbps up/down on your tethered phone. So in some cases, it may even be faster than home broadband :D

You're right though, cellphone 3G/4G connections tend to be high latency, which can be a deal breaker for gaming. (900ms+ ping or more)

The new wireless hot spot feature is a god send. I have my phone contract with Telstra (a very good, if expensive carrier out here in Australia). The 3G flies. Internet surfing speeds nearly as fast as my home broadband. Have played world of tanks using it quite nicely. Any FPS would be a no go though.

But users aren't going to be tethering to play games, for surfing the internet, it will all be based on your 3G carrier.

3G modules are now pointless IMO. The only negative with the wireless hotspot feature is the battery drain on your phone, but this isn't that big an issue.

i was just asking because i tend to use my laptop for work and it would be pretty awesome if i had the option to put my sim card in to battery , forget about it and just load up the 3g whenever im out of wifi range. (i know the 3g sucks for gaming .. tried it with a dongle and it was horrific)

p.s. yes i was on about the module .. the cd with drivers came with 3g module drivers and i saw the sim card slot however drivers did nothing so i assume there was no 3g module included. anyone know where i can buy one ?

I have 4G through Sprint and get about 20 down on a good day, 6-8 consistently. Uploads are in the 2-4Mbps range.

It's the latency that will kill you, though. Too high for gaming.

    Pictures. Lots of pictures. :D
Also, maybe some comment on the sound quality as far as the headphone jack is concerned? I'm planning on using some nice studio monitors for awhile through the jacks until I get my recording equipment set up.
