    Thanks Meaker,

I'll give it a go and will try and sort out the Bios flash for the GTX 485M  It saves me having to flog it back on ebay and then having to find a suitable replacement. Never done any Bios upgrades before, so please be patient with me. I have ventured onto Prema’s site but unable to locate the file. Anyhow I have just emailed Prema through he’s web-site, so fingers crossed that I hear back from him. I’ll post and let everybody know, might also need some help and support regarding the how to carry-out the actual flash

Thanks again for all your help and support:thumbsup:

I've been having a problem with my M980NU. It started in the past few months. At first, it would shut down while booting. I'd see the bios screen and maybe the Windows loading screen, then bam, it would turn off like the power was cut. It would take a bunch of tries to actually get Windows to load. The problem steadily got worse as time went on. It's now seemingly impossible to successfully boot the laptop. I press the power button, hear all the fans and drives and see the led lights turn on for a second or two, then it immediately shuts down as if I had pulled the plug. There's not even enough time for the screen to turn on.

I've tried switching RAM, CPU, and GPUs around to rule them out as faulty, I don't think it's any of those. I also have two AC adapters and the same thing happens with either of them. At this point I'm fairly sure the fault is somewhere in the motherboard itself, probably the power circuit or whatever the component that handles the power input is called. How screwed am I? Is this fixable besides getting a new mobo (which might as well mean just buying a new laptop)? Did I maybe miss something obvious that will fix my poor laptop without spending a fortune?

I think at that age it's probably a dead mobo. My D900F went out the same way, I feel you bro. That being said you could get a $1300 clevo with a 970M and an entry level i7 and it'd wipe the floor with your old M980NU; I don't know if you're prepared to spend that cash, but it'd be an upgrade that's not too expensive.
