Debating Win7 out of the box vs. Vista, but I hate that I would be on the RC release. x64 either way. -
i will be with 64bit windows but i will just have the vista then use my upgrade voucher for free windows 7
Im debating about getting an SSD for when windows 7 is released
Still trying to sell my M17 tho -
I read some the other thread and it says no OCing for this system? Is this true at the moment guys?
-
-
it is possible to overclock this system (we suspect) but no one who is willing to do it has got thier hands on it yet
but there is no bios oc available, but FSB should be available
thats why i made sure i got 1333 fsb ram -
New KBC/EC guys:
1. EC firmware 1.00.05.

As usual, extract onto a botable usb stick, boot into dos and type "update" (without quotes) -

Ty Gophn,
hows that review coming?
have you been able to do much clocking on it? -
-
-
Looking forward to both reviews as well.

Finally, an owners lounge for M980NU
-
Is it next week yet? I so want my beast to arrive...
-
hehe you have no idea im climbing the walls here lol
-
-
that was when i was ordering it
now im like a racing driving waiting for the race! -
So quiet... so calm... need more owners!
-
well i know in the UK that supplies are still pretty scarce, I know that Kobalt only got enough chassis to complete pre-orders
So I know that they will become more available, but we are all just awaiting our machines at the moment
Still got an eta of this friday (with a following wind) -
What backpack does everyone get with M980NU? I was told that it won't fit Targus XL... OMG, how much does it weigh?
Also, how is the screen quality, how their screens are in comparison to M17x's screens? -
According to notebookcheck.com's updated review for m980nu, it's a Samsung screen (reputation for grainy lcds) and it's not too bright and too reflective in all lighting conditions.
Display
In our test model from Cyber System there was an 18.4-inch Full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) display from Samsung (184HT03-001). Thanks to the high resolution the large panel pleasantly offers a lot of space to work with.
The biggest weakness of the panel in our test laptop was the measured average brightness of only 147 cd/m². Along with the strongly reflecting glass panel this leads to interfering reflections in almost all lighting conditions. For example playing GTA 4 during the day was almost impossible (indoors!). Our preview sample even had an average of 180cd/m², although with a differing panel from CMO - CMO1800, N184H4-L01.
The illumination of 74% isn't especially good due to the strong brightness wastage towards the corners. However the low black values and the good contrast achieved from it are positive.

you soon learn not too trust notebookcheck after you see a couple of thier "reviews" and compare them to normal useage after owning the product
-
-
Ouch... how reflective is it? I hadn't counted on that. Hate reflective screens.
-
well to be fair i think all high res screens are, i know my M17 screen is reflective as well
-
-
-
Well, I wonder if we're going to see these starting to go out in the US this week. Haven't heard anything new yet
-
I know that my OEM supplier has recieved the first units in the UK and are starting to ship mid week (hence me having mine by end of week )

Though I have been thinking about going down to hte X9100 and then upgrading to the Q9300. What do you think? -
hehe it s a good choice
i must admit that i have been going round in circles as to which cpu to use, i have elected to order a cheap one and save the cash by buying an ES chip.
Much better way of doing it imo and the chips are very easy to change out
Put the extra cash into a SSD
But all in all for gaming this is the best choice -

XoticPC keeps changing their dates and it is starting to make me mad. They have already pushed it back twice and they are pushing it back to mid August now. I think I should get it somewhere else, where else can I go?
-
GenTech is very involved here.
-
nvm

Sager would be one of the first OEM's to ship out the M980NU. XoticPC just pushes paper for Sager. Just wait patiently, Jack_of_Blades.
