    Thanks, What321

The only, and I mean only, differences between the 8130 and the 8150 is that the 8150 has a rubberized coating, higher PSU, and glossy screen. The 8130 has the matte screen, lower spec PSU, and hard plastic finish. I really love the matte screen on the 8130. There is absolutely no glare whatsoever, incredibly bright, and very crisp. I don't have the glossy screen or the 95% gamut screen, so I can't comment on those, but the stock matte is very nice. In the end, its you're preferences that are important.

Windkull - Exactly. Can't have a FPS drop while having a micro battle just because high shaders look cool :D

    The 8150-S1 / P150HM-S1 also has a matte screen option as well! It's a $30 upgrade.

Received my machine yesterday! WOW! this thing is a beast! Compared to my previous sager (8690) is way thinner and lighter! So far my experience has been great, installing W7 + Drivers was a breeze! so smooth and fast!

The screen is simply gorgeous, I love the keyboard, but in my opinion the greatest improvement of all (and this goes for all laptops I've have previously owned such as Dell, Alienware, HP, sager) are the speakers! I love the mini sub-woofer. So yeah I'm loving it!

There are more detailed reviews out there, these are just quick impressions!

About a month a go I sold my M15X to get this! Totally worth it! And for those of you waiting out there, hang in there! you'll not be disappointed!

Time to install more games! so far SC2 is maxed out and looks beautiful!

I believe another thing the 8150 offers is the ability to upgrade to the 485.

As far as I've read/heard about, the 8130 doesn't have the option but I know a lot of people are waiting to hear on the AMD Radeon 6970m. Will the 6970m be compatible with the 8130?

The reason why the 8150 is able to upgrade to the 485M is because of the higher PSU, as hispeed had just pointed out...

And if that's the case, I don't think that the 8130 will be able to handle the 6970M.

Like a dream. Not a single problem at all. I'm still in the phase where I clean off the dust from every button and make sure there are no scratches or anything. I couldn't have asked for a better laptop. Hope you have just as good thoughts as I do :)

No upgrade to the GPU, unless its in the same power requirements as the 460m. As for the wireless card, it was 35 bucks. I figure wireless tech is only gonna get better so might as well be prepared for it

What kinda matte screen upgrade do you guys offer for +$30? Is it the v.1 or v.4? Seems like a really good price compared to the 150-200$ upgrades going around now.

I didn't get it, the stock wireless card is already wireless n. The upgrades offer more antennas and Virtualization or something like that, but since I don't use that, and as far as I can tell my stock wireless card on my current notebook was never lost reception. I didn't really see the point in upgrading. ANd there's others who got stock too. The upgrade is pretty cheap, but that doesn't mean you have to or even should go for it.

My 6300 card gets 2.5x the download speed of the N card in my XPS which is a single antenna solution... It also can pick up signal from about 30 sources in my building vs around 8-10 for my XPS's card. That's what the extra antennae give you, much better range and bandwith.

how's the battery life on the 8130 for internet/productivity? I got the 5160 because of size and battery life, but I'm only getting 3.5 hours out of it. If the 8130 doesn't do that much worse, I'm going to wish that I had spent a little more and gotten the 8130 because of the improved graphics performance. Oh well...

I'm sorry to tell you that it doesn't do much worse. I have gotten around 3 hours and 20 minutes out of it with wi fi on, screen at just under half brightness and web browsing the whole time.

Hi, great review! Cool to read some real thoughts about the laptop :)

However, I'm a bit confused: In the Xoticpc video review of the NP8130 ( YouTube - Sager NP8130 Video Review by XOTIC PC) you hear the fans constantly both during the 3d test and after the 3d test.

But your NP8130 is completely quiet apart from when the fans is revving up.

Could any other owner of a NP8130 tell me how much noise their laptop is making in office mode?

I really need a laptop I can bring to business presentations and such ;)

PS. @Hispeed: Have you solved the problem with the fans revving up?

Those benchmarks are pretty stressful and I don't really push my computer that far, which explains why both fans are on in their video.

As for my issue with the fans revving up, no its still the same. There is a thread that is dedicated to this issue on the main sager page. A lot of people are having this issue so I think its more of a design thing. Realize that the fans are only noticable in a completely quiet room. Any other situation and its background noise. I would like you to the thread, but I'm on my phone and its kinda hard to do that :D

I would say about 130ish degrees. Give or take a few. I would like to add the viewing angles are pretty good for this screen too at the angles.

    Hispeed,

Does your laptop sit level on a flat surface with all the rubber "feet" touching the surface?

Just curious because Batman mentioned his may not be sitting level and I was wondering if it's just his laptop or if they are all like that.

    Thanks

It take a while to cool down back to normal levels so the laptop can turn the fans off. Anyways, trust me that this laptop has very nice cooling and the temps will get to acceptable levels quickly.

@QuadCoreDV6 - My laptop sits completely level. I don't know any other issues about the levelness, so ...... yeah :D

    hispeed,

Can you comment on your experience with the plastic flex and "weight bearing on the plastic" that has been reported with this laptop? Just wondering if this something that you've noticed as well.

    Thanks

I have been looking at the 8130 forums too, but I have not experienced any of these issues(that I can tell).

If by flex you mean when typing, I don't have any of that at all. I have to press pretty hard to get some flex(much more than normal typing would need).

Would you explain what this "weight on the plastic" is? If its something I have, but didn't notice, then it's not really an issue for me. At the end of the its still a awesome laptop. Minor irks come with any purchase and if one is looking for issues, then they will be found no matter what.

Thanks hispeed! I think you're right, there are going to be minor things and some people may be bothered by little things that others don't even notice.

I'm looking forward to getting my laptop tomorrow and enjoying it.

The number one disadvantage i see with this laptop is its battery life, how long does the battery actually last when doing normal web browsing, and surfing?
I am torn between this and the sager np5160, I save about $350 with the 5160...however price is secondary (budget of 1500), however i need max battery life, since im not a heavy gamer....

    thanks

In that case, go for the 5160. You will get much better battery life, and it's not like the 540M is not a good card. It's a decent mid-tier card.

The 540m is high, low teir card. It would be outdated in by the end of the year at the latest.

The battery lasts 3 hours on the 8150 with a 485m with screen slightly dimmed and just doing text editing and browsing, not too bad at all.

Yeh I've heard that too, and I have to say, I find it really strange. There should be a bigger difference then that. However if that is really the case for most people, which I still don't think it is, I would only go with the 5160 for price, Intel QuickSync, and WiDi, and lighter chassis. If none of those are a deciding factor, 8130 all the way. ;)

Yea thats why i decided on the np 5160 first, but then i saw the temps, the battery life and the lack of a "future" proof graphics card. :(
Is there actually noticeable difference in weight between the two,i mean i know the numbers, but what does it actually translate into?
