Everyone is probably enjoying their D900F's and forgot about this thread :p

I'm still on phase 1, since I ordered not too long ago :( Probably be a while until I can get mine.

I just got an email from PCTorque that they are expecting "another shipment from Sager next week" but no telling if my machine is in that shipment. So I am enjoying the painful, heartbreaking anticipation since this will be the first top-of-the-line machine I ever had. Up until now, I looked for refurbs and bargains. So, I wait and dream about the 60fps and amazing number of applications I can run simultaneously. I wait and I salivate...and my current laptop (E1705) does its job not knowing that it will soon become a backup machine; sitting in the corner watching me enjoy it's replacement. Some day...soon (I hope).

I used windows 7 a lot on my Asus G1-S before it took a poop, works good.
the 64-bit vista drivers work just fine.

Once i get my 9280 I will throw win7 on it, way faster than vista.

I am sure those interested in doing a accurate review are using their machines as often as they can and taking notes of things they do and don't like. A fairly accurate asessment would require running the notebook under various conditions, i.e. gaming, benchmarking ect. I will wait patiently and hope that the extra time produces a spot-on and highly detailed review.

Yeah, XoticPC has 1333s in their configuration now. I might be thinking of changing the ram of my preorder to 1333s instead, if it is possible since I'm still in phase 1?

Actually, if your machine is on order while a new upgrade comes out and is compatable with the new upgrade, I think your machine will be upgraded accordingly free of charge...But, don't hold me to this.

Mine got upgraded from the i7 965 to the i7 975 in the middle of the order...But, this was before the release date. So i could be wrong.

    Hope this helps

Mine is still in Phase 1 and I was wondering if you can upgrade the 1066 to 1333 later by order them from Newegg when they are on sale?

If you want DDR3-1333, choose the best.

    Kingston HyperX ULL DDR3-1333 CL7

PS: AFAIK, other vendors only releases DDR3-1333 CL9

    Greetings all!

First post--I'm a lurker. I just called xoticpc to find out the shipping status and they told me that they are expecting them tomorrow (Friday). I also asked about the possibility of a free upgrade to the 1333 RAM, but the lady I spoke with could not answer the question (other than I could certainly send more money for the upgrade) and told me to write an email to their service department.

That email is written and sent--but I won't be able to read any reply until 2 days from now as I'm leaving town as soon as I hit this submit button and will be computerless.

I'd be curious to know if any of you others that are waiting on orders are able to get any further than I did.

OK---I hit submit and checked my email and already got a response. Here it is:

Hello, thank you for your email. The Ram Upgrade is at an additional cost as we will still offer the DDR3 1066MHz. If you want to do the upgrade please let us know and we can do the change for you.

Please let us know how we can be of further assistance.

Yea, I had to do the the same, I had to pay a couple bucks for more the faster RAM ... no biggie if you ask me. The only "free" upgrade is the 965 -> 975.

I had bought from xotic before, their service is really pretty good, they have always been very accommodating when I wanted to make changes to my order.

My system I order well have the 950 i7 and with 1066 ram. Would it be best to change it now to 1333 ram? For now I well not be doing much overclocking and just mainly using Adobe Creative 4 on it running plus I'll be installing Wndow 7 RC as my operating system.

I used the following with my d901c and will with my d900f. I found that the notebook + power supply + other crap I carry was to heavy for me in a backpack. Surprisingly my case fits under all the airline seats so far ... and I fly every week. I have been extremely happy with this case.

If the RAM is not too expensive, and there is any possibility you might want to upgrade your i7 CPU in the future....you might want to keep the DDR3 1333 upgrade....

If you have already upgraded i would just leave it. it is possible that the 1333mhz memory will be speed rated at a lower latency at 1066 then the ram the was maxed out at 1066. it would also help in overclocking but i highly doubt that will be possible outside the extreme processors. every laptop i have seen the memory settings we all know the chipset can do are not active in the bios and it only runs the memory at their specified speeds and latencys however sometimes they are adjustable with softfsb and whatnot...so anyway it is possible the higher mhz memory will be picked up by the mobo as lower latency at the lower mhz...and the $ difference is $50 from what i have seen no big deal compared to the rest of the system.

also if you are like me and planning on upgrading the cpu before they move to something i can't use, the mem will one less thing to be "forced" to upgrade.

As i stated not even the Extreme cpus can be overclocked - not via bios.. my seller stated this loud and clear. The heat output and power consumption is already big enough and therefore any multiplier or fsb control is locked. And the ram is always a good bonus if youre upgrading to a 6,4gt cpu later which will actually use the full 1333mhz speed.

Apparently there are only 2 or three that posts on these forums that has this, and for some reason are not saying anything. How many are there of you out there that has the 9280 / D900F???? What this tells me there are many out there that have it but are not the forum types, because we know that Sager has shipped many of these allready...

I just ordered a couple of hard drives to fill the empty bays on this 9280, when it finally gets here. It occured to me that I made a big assumption when I didn't order SATA or power cables. Will they come with the machine or will I be calling New Egg up again?

is intel matrix storage manager installed?

raid 5 is not as fast as you think it would be in my experience with our servers at work.

I would go get the lastest x58 chipset driver and intel matrix storage manager from intel's website.

also I have seen windows turn off different disks in a raid due to inactivity but not all the disks, which really jacks with the system, I would also disable hard drive power down.

What OS are you running bullet? Also, what were you doing when the system locked up, were you straining the CPU? Was it really hot?

I'm not really trying to figure out the solution (I'll leave that to the experts here :D ), just wondering about the system's stability overall.

    I got an update ...

Your order has been sent into our production queue and production will begin in approximately 1-3 business days. The production time frame to assemble, customize, and test your notebook is 3-7 business days.

... so it's moving along. I guess the 975 is only starting to ship out now, or does anyone already have one?

a number of Clevo vendors will have the option for the same paint jobs.... with warranty just for the paint itself.

I think SmoothCreations and Falcon Northwest are the most overpriced of them.

If I remember right, most of the custom paint jobs that vendors give the option to get are from:
