Hi, my RTX 2080 has just died. Does anyone know if I can replace it with a lower spec model rtx 2060/2070 without too much hassle and if so if there are any retailers in the UK?

If you have a PC Specialist laptop, I would speak directly with them, otherwise Ebay will be your best bet. Also I saw that clevo-computer has some RTX for sale in the spare parts compartiment.

Seconding that you are best off with a primary suppliers, but also that the heatsink in that laptop *I believe* will only work with RTX cards, but you can also buy the older heatsink from the P775 series to slap in a 1080/1070. The costs on those RTX cards is crazy.
Additional thought - Consider sending out the 2080 for repair, it might be something fixable. There are "video card repair" service specialists all over the world, but you might have to part with the whole laptop for a month. -
Would an RTX 2070 fit perfectly where the RTX 2080 was or are the screws mountings slightly different? -

What’s happened to the card exactly @cudawarped does it artifact or is it completely dead?
This is the first case in which I’ve seen one die, could be due to improper vrm cooling from the factory. If you need help sourcing a rtx 2080 gpu let me know, I live in the UK tooPapusan likes this. -
I took it to a repair place and they removed the GPU and said that it was then powering up or at least doing more than just flashing a single led. This made sense to me as its gsync and igpu, therfore with the dead gpu in it failed to get passed an initial boot although I would have expected some bios beeps. They tried a few things to fix the GPU but said that it was difficult because they don't have any wiring diagrams for clevo. They also found a lot of dust between the exhaust and the fan inside the case which was not visable without removing the heat pipes .
Thank you but I don't think my budget can extend to a new RTX 2080 as it looks like they are almost the same cost as a new laptop and this one is 2.5 years old. I saw this RTX 2070 on clevo-computers and was wondering if it would fit without any bios or hardware changes because of the price. If its more than say £500 it would see sensible to spend the money on a new laptop rather than a 2.5 year old one, especially as my last clevo (defiance with gtx 980) died after a year (rma for new mobo due to cpu overheading) and then the same problem again after another year. -
Yes, that 2070 will work without any problems in your Laptop, just plug and play. Prices are really crazy for mxm cards because there is no supply. I got lucky and got the 2080 really cheap but if it goes out is better to get a new one and just sell the rest with this prices.

@cudawarped would you be interested in a rtx 2060 mxm for £320?

I have now removed the GPU and the laptop powers on again, however if I plug it into the mains and power it on it trips the fuse. Does anyone know if this is due to removal of the GPU or another fault with the laptop?

Likely a fault with the 19v input on the machine.
